But does she want to make her funk a P funk?

She realiy should change her name to Cardi O.
Strange posts like the Win 10 one have presaged spam post bombardments on other boards I've been on.
Beware the 2020 Presidential Election thread may be in danger before it starts!
Jay Williams is apparently dating Charissa Thompson. His private life was leaked. Emphasis on private.
If Cardi B had a kid, would that make her Cardi mum?
Restring the guitar, I sound like a whole different guy.
Made it back safely to Asheville from Durham. Snow completely covered the highway all the way from Black Mountain to my condo. Had to clear a tree on the final stretch...thank God for 4WD. I was one of the only jackass***$ on the road, and honestly, it was quite fun:o
I drove by the Sun Bowl and Juarez today. Of course, going through my mind is WWOPKD?
Atlanta United got the job done tonight. I am a happy man.
Power is finally back!
I have won DBR’s Survival NFL pool for the second consecutive season.
How many commemorative t-shirts can I put each of you down for?
The OTB is up to 6900.
SO....you’ll be going for the Triple Crown next year huh ??
Holy moly, this wretched cold cough draggy thing going around is brutal. Two weeks of lingering yuck.
Wash your hands everybody and run when you hear someone sneezing!
I will neither confirm nor deny that my return trip might have been delayed as I was regaled in Spanish with stories of an American who visited on or around December 27, 2014. For me to say any more would detract from the richness of the tales.
2020 miles and a bad tank of gas. That was my weekend...
I'm about 500 miles away from the 200,000 mile mark on my vehicle.
If you want to have a really good time, may I suggest going over your estate planning?! I'm practically passed out excited from piles of papers, lists and missing bits of vital information that must be found post haste.
And I'm staring out the window a lot to counterbalance the thrills.
Pfft. We're going with milk cartons in the attic. Done and done.

Mine too. Mrs. Turk has been working on her mom to declutter, perhaps one carload at a time, but has not been able to persuade her to rent a dumpster. For example, last month, Mrs. Turk got the green light to attack some file cabinets in the garage. She found a box with more than 200 old 3.5" floppies. (remember those?) The youngest Turk had never even seen that kind before, and we had fun doing the math to see how many she would need to match the capacity of the USB stick in her pocket. On the plus side, Mrs. Turk found a recycling place online where she could mail the floppies, and got a check for around $30 or so, which was a pleasant surprise.
3.5" were "micro" floppies. 5 1/4" were "mini". Anyone else ever worked with the original 8" floppies?
(Yeah, I'm old. My first "real" job in high school was working at Woofer (Woofer) and Tweeter (ᵀʷᵉᵉᵗᵉʳ) selling and supporting computers. 8" discs were mostly done even by then. And, yeah, I'm a lifer...)

I still work with 3.5” and even a few 5 1/4 floppies. The x-ray manufacturing industry was kinda late getting into computer driven equipment. And hospitals and clinics sometimes hold onto older equipment longer than advisable, due to budget concerns and the extremely high cost of replacement. I have to maintain two old laptops (one as a backup) with floppy drives in order to be able to continue working on these medical relics. I even bought 2 external floppy drives so that I can continue with a new laptop when my old laptops crap out.
And, yes, I still live in a cave and hunt woolly mammoths.
Yes. I worked for a Beltway bandit and we were doing mainframe database work. For the project, they ran a line from the Pentagon into our building, into a dedicated room, and installed an IBM controller on a shelf in the corner. A bunch of dumb terminals were then connected into the controller using coax. The thing booted up with those big floppies, and I seem to remember updating and saving our configuration to floppy as part of the process. It was essentially a router, only noisy, black, ugly, and the same size as a large microwave oven.
Whew, feeling better that while I may still yell at the neighborhood kids to get off my lawn, I'm not the eldest here.
Really wet in DC - we just set the record for our all-time wettest year this morning! And, as I understand, before this storm, we had our second longest dry spell of the year - all of 12 days! And more than half our weekends have been washed out. Yeah, it's been a wet year - but my basement stayed dry! (Win!)
And my 15yo kiddo is running a first-ever half-marathon tomorrow morning. I'm guessing it'll be really damp, even if the rain stops (however unlikely that might be).
Determination!
(Just think if this system had been snow!)

The office Christmas party evoking memories of middle school.
Hope she says yes:rolleyes:
Once again, the Kia holiday commercials are the most ear-worm annoying on the teevee.
It's a sign of my insanity that I notice such things but there it is.

I really don't want to hate an organization that, I guess, helps kids or something. I never hear the whole commercial because I am clawing at my eardrum like a rabid squirrel every time this comes on the radio.
Having tough personal times. Please send good vibes. Thankful for this community.
Pulling for you Mt Man!
Along this line of thinking, here's my go to after a difficult day:

You got this Mtn man. Lighten up while you still can!
Unless you're like The Dude and hate the Eagles, then I'd suggest:

This will bring stabilization to your life on a level you never ever considered possible!!!
I wish you love health and happiness
We've got your back, Mtn Devil.
You good, Mtn Devil? Sending good vibes your way.
In slightly good news - Happy 11th Anniversary LTE!!
I always figured it’d eventually break something.

Fun Fact: December 20, 2007 was a Thursday, same as this year.
Sometime recently when I wasn't paying attention - we went over 1,000,000 views.
Three words: Capital Loss Carryover
i'm offended by holiday traffic...
Next year, either December 20 or 21. I find Friday nights are easier, but it's hard to resist the actual solstice when hosting the Winter Solstice Dessert Open House. So, just come up to Boston for the weekend. I'll let you know which night the party is a little closer to the date.
Also - I'm not going to go back and look for it now - but I'm pretty sure I've offered a standing invitation to my dessert party in this thread before. ;-) But it is true, I did not remind you with sufficient time this year.
Prime.
Ummm... family Christmas announcement.
There is gonna be a (biological this time) UNCLE MATTMAN!
Wooooooo!!!
More babies!! I love babies. I got to hold one last night at my party.
Today has the feel of a Bedknobs and Broomsticks/Candleshoe kinda day.
Ugh, sore throat. Thankfully by my fourth hot toddy, I think it feels better.
A very merry Christmas to all!
Yes, Merry Christmas everyone!
Merry Christmas Everybody!
Pass me that Bloody Mary with extra hot sauce...
And bless us, everyone!
Happy Boxing Day!
It’s over 🤗🤗
Boy. A good night's sleep make a huge difference.
That was easy...
What a long time between games. Sheesh.
Today is the big day.
Sigh, the semi-annual fireworks...
She said yes :)
My New Year's resolution: for every post on the politics thread, I will post something on this thread too in order to maintain balance in the DBR universe.
So far, so good.
Politics is the Bird Box of our times. But those who don’t like the topic can thankfully avoid the thread without the need for a blindfold!
I switchec to a tablet awhile ago.
Wow! I may actually be able to attend the basketball game on Saturday. Surprisingly unusual lately, even though I have season tickets. (I have lots of volunteers/vultures eagerly gobbling up my unused tickets, so don't ask.)
1) No blizzard in the forecast.
2) All of my cars are working at the SAME TIME. (Driving as usual from the Atlanta area).
3) None of my widely scattered and ever-increasing number of Granddaughters are having: (A) birthday parties, (B) Dance Recital, (C) Gymnastic competition, or (D) their parents going on an Anniversary trip, which requires "Pop-Pop" to babysit over the weekend.
4) I can actually afford gas money, as long as I don't eat on the trip. Please throw bags of Skittles/Pork Skins in my direction. I'll be wearing a blue shirt.
So, the in thing is for endowments to buy vineyards. Hmmm...
Thanks for the well wishes. Thinking about eloping next month then heading to Rome in May for our honeymoon. Any suggestions? Might make a new thread for advice.
We did Rome/Italy for our honeymoon 20 years ago, and went back eight months ago with the kids. I absolutely love Rome and Italy.
I have often started a travel advice thread (within the country and overseas) when I start looking at hotels, etc., and have always gotten great info from the DBR community, which is diverse and well-traveled. You might get more info by doing that than on the LTE only.
If you decide to go, happy to let you know what I know.
The food and wine is incredible. Beer not the biggest, although I found a place near the Colosseum with two local craft beers made by some dude in Abrizzi — only place you can get it because it is such small batch. So craft beers are available if you hunt but it’s really a wine country.
I’m going to Belgium in April, talk about beer hunting!
Accompanied my friend to a hot yoga class last Wednesday. Tweaked my knee and it's still bothering me. Think it's a bruise. Felt better the last two days, but worse today.
Lesson: I am not made for yoga
Yoga is not a contact sport....hard to be put on the IR in Yoga ☺️☺️
Weddings are inherently stressful regardless of how simple. Mrs Mtn Devil and I had every intention of eloping at the courthouse, and were talked into a small backyard ceremony by her parents. It was as easy as could be but still stressful.
Good luck whatever you decide.
My husband and I were married in Duke Chapel with 300 of our closest friends in attendance. It was a remarkably stress free occasion. The only time I had a fight with my mother was when I had to pull rank and tell her that is was my wedding and we were singing "Be Thou My Vision" instead of "O Perfect Love" as the hymn. (I then had our vocalist sing "O Perfect Love" during the pre-ceremony music. I don't like that hymn, my mother loves it, the vocalist sang it well before I entered.)
"We got married in a fever, hotter than a pepper sprout.
We've been talking 'bout Jackson, ever since the fire went out."
(One of the most underrated songs ever)
There have been lots of covers, but to me -- nothing can ever touch Johnny and June.

Definitely allergic to mountain cedar...
Watched a gust of wind blowing a traffic cone across a parking lot this morning.
Negotiating with a cat whether or not there is open space on the couch for her.
Received a very unexpected present from Nephew Alex this year. He wrote me an incredibly sweet note and gave me this -his first ACC Championship ring.Attachment 8925
Today, I
Went to the gym
Sent my daughter back to college
Walked four miles on the river
Made about three gallons of tomato sauce
Chased an opossum out of the garage that was eating the cat food
Introduced my son to “A Fish Called Wanda”
Listened to two Joseph Campbell lectures on myth and the individual
Re-watched Zion’s 360 about twenty times
I’m ready to go back to work tomorrow.
The 2019 MLS schedule comes out this afternoon. Hoping for a couple of Atlanta United road trip possibilities. I feel excited.
Big Four Oh

Happy birthday to you both!
Happy birthday everyone!
(Yeah, I went too far.)
The. Win difference between Zima and Diet Mt. Dew is that the DMD willl make you sick.
Yes, I did in fact win a 60 person bowl picking contest. Heavily dominated by Vandy alums(my grad school), only 3 of us picked Clemson correctly. The home team/conference bias is strong and clouds thinking...
FWIW, I was in first place before the final game and wouldn’t have finished lower than 3rd if Alabama won.
Unfortunately every year one of my ESPN brackets is a “Worst Case Senario;” 2nd round exit for us, Kansas and UK rolling, ACC sh9tting the bed, and then the Cheats cashing in those unused timeouts for a blessing from the basketball gods who don’t care about integrity. I finished 358th out of over 4million entries 2 years ago and hated every second of it.
Swiseman just tweeted that Cam is back on bench and looks ready to get back in.
We're an inclusive bunch. As long as we get to toot our own horns over here it makes some of the other rooms more tolerable.
So, I'm enjoying the day with more exciting estate planning and then diving into some early tax work. I'm sexy like that.
But, I'll probably just lurk here all day, too.
Tooooot!
I lost the internet at home for about 36 hours. I feel so out of it.
Have I posted here about my guinea pigs yet? We got Cookie in September. We were told that guinea pigs are social and prefer not to live alone. It took a little while but we got Evie on New Year's Eve (didn't want to do Christmas because of all the other stuff going on). I now have two "girls" to spoil .
Hmm, tried to upload a picture but I can't make it work. You'll just have to trust me that they are very cute.
Running today after three days off because of some knee pain. About 10 weeks into training for a marathon. If the pain persists today, I'll be shutting it down completely :(
I need to lose 5 more lbs. before I start running again. I worry about joints as I've had issues in the past with my knees.
I need to lose about 30 pounds, and something needs to be chasing me before I start running again.
Once upon a time I did.
I've had two surgeries on my right knee (ACL, Meniscus), but it's my left knee that is bothering me this time. Attended a hot yoga class with a friend a couple weeks back a tweaked something. Went out for a 3 mile run at lunch and it's better, but still not 100%. Going to take 10 days - 2 weeks off.
Uhhhohhhh. I was once like you, dear luburch, also had the meniscus snaparoosky. I'm sure you used arch supports, braces and bands, etc. I did way too much jumping and running and kick boxing and assorted cuckoo things and suffered mightily...then it was both knees replaced at a young age. Apparently the Irish genes aren't the best for knees.
Good luck my friend.
Left ACL (twice) for this Irishman. First time in a 3 on 3 bball tourney at a family reunion (I might take things too seriously), second time about 8 months later after my buddy stroked my ego and told me his flag football team needed a WR1.
I don't think I've run more than a mile at a time since high school, so kudos to you, luburch. Hope the knee feels better.
As the snow continues to fall and the branches get more and more snow on them, I'm beginning to rethink my walk to work today.
Had to watch the game in a pizza parlor inside a casino. I was the only Duke fan there.
