Trying to buy a transmission from a 1970 Buick GS Stage 1...

Finally! A break in the heat so I can resume my browbeating and Supreme Overlord of the Chore List self-assurance.
We had a break in the heat also today. 91 F. I was mowing the lawn at 3 PM and realized that 91 F is still kinda warm.
Sigh, really? We're doing this?
Seems I have beem pronouncing "Gal Gadot" wrong.
Godot never got there...
I would wait much longer for Gal Godot than Beckett's.
After a brief break, back to mid to high 90s. I'll wait inside.
So, anybody got any pots to bang?
Never a dull moment.
The County has conveniently provided me with an ankle bracelet for the next 12-18 months, so my location is readily determinable.
On a related matter -- anyone willing to run over to Tennessee for me this weekend? I'm kind of, um, indisposed to interstate travel at the moment.
Booked some flights this morning. Athens -> Madrid, Madrid -> Budapest. Have some more to book, but coordinating travel can be a pain sometimes. Hoping to see Prague and Dubrovnik also. Ending in Germany for Oktoberfest
I hate taking my car in for anything but routine maintenance. Now waiting to see how my negotiating skills are with Toyota.
I am experienced enough to hate both the player, and the game.
So Devo could make your Friday the Thirteenth a bit creepier:

Oh come on Ymo, Devo was a blast...
I did have a beer yesterday while out with coworkers.
This is more my speed on covers...

Thanks to a crossword puzzle this morning, I learned that "I'm on a Boat" was nominated for a Grammy in 2009. I don't know what to do with that information.
I guess no oone is watching the WSOP Main Event final table?
Definitely. Was at the WSOP earlier this month, although did not enter the Main. (Good fried did, made day 2).
Eating at a bar in the Rio, and Chris “Jesus” Ferguson and Jean-Robert Ballande sat down:

Mystified by how we ended up with an American flag that looks like we could recruit eight friends and walk it onto the field at Comerica Park at the beginning of a Tigers game.
The thing is huge! What the heck am I going to do with it? Found it squirrelled away in the back of a closet. Kind of sad to have it folded up but it's way too big for a regular flag pole. Guess I could offer it to the local hospital to fly?
Request for positive thoughts this morning from the inmates here please!
Thank you to cellblock DBR!
All clear.
Not sure I knew this thread existed. But it's fantastic. And I wanted to be a part of it.
So now I am, I guess.
- Chillin
Great news! (sorry you had to wait out the news)
I'm going to call on the DBR cell block for my brother-in-law. He will be having a heart cath on Thursday. Hopefully, they will see minor blockage so they can do a stent and it will put everything right. Medicine seems to be all hurry up and wait - have a test done, it doesn't provide definitive info to diagnose the problem, have another test, wait some more. Very frustrating.
Will be thinking of him! Nothing but the best for him and then many more lovely repasts of vegetables, light salad dressings, lean meats and fish...forever. Maybe he can get a pair of those sweet "dad" type sneakers that are oddly back in style so he can begin his trek towards the South Pole via the streets in his neighborhood.
He already has a great diet - except for the ice cream. He is starting to get back on his bicycle after breaking his hip in January. (Stupid mailman didn't even stop to ask if he was ok. No, you idiot, it is not uncommon for someone to be on their knees clinging to a flower pot in the rain.)
Vibes to your BIL, DIK.
Thank you. I'm praying they are able to fix the issue with this procedure. If open heart surgery is needed, I don't know when it will be scheduled but hope it isn't urgent so it can be done when I'm back from the mission trip to be here for support for my sister and BIL.
Is it Thursday? Or Friday? Maybe Wednesday? They are all blending together...
I always thought man was the most invasive species around.
I had a big pork chop for lunch...a San Antonio tradition.
Some times pets have no sense of decorum...
Over-grilled the roast, after it ran too low.
Lesson: Foil changes thermodynamics. A lot.
(Asparagus good though, so some redemption)
Foil would adjust the heat transfer flows in the grill.
Hopefully the word leather was not an apt description.
The volleyball team I coach is in chapel hell for team camp the next 2 days. Send your prayers and vibes that I don't get too much cheater stench on me.

Who's going with me?!
Vibes sent, MI:F may be the only movie I go to for the rest of the summer season.
This is mission trip week. If anyone wants to check in on our activities, check out leawoodumcmissiontrip2018.blogspot.com
Paint and grease don't always come off easily.
Hmmm, what shall we do today?
Have I told you about my teenage crush on Ally Sheedy?
Here we go again, same old stuff again.
Going off the rails on a crazy train...
On the TV show American Pickers, someone found the van Aerosmith traveled around in ‘70-‘71. I was born in ‘71, coincidence?
Please don't. That bubble window is a key selling feature...

My 2009 Camry Hybrid needed the electronic power steering rack replaced. I came home with a RAV4 in Galactic Aqua. The color changes based on the light. I may call him Joseph.
DaughterPK named her new car Loretta. Just not feeling it though.
Depends on the car...
Sister Turk ran off to the Peace Corps in South America and left behind a 2003 PT Cruiser for her nephews to fight over. I'm trying to christen it the Silver Shadow, but getting strong visual and verbal insubordination from the young Turks... Patience, persistence, and perseverance are the keys to success!
Hope not! Good reference, my first thoughts were of Ms. Lynn and also the girl from the Beatles' Get Back. But it's her car (sort of) so what's a dad to do?
You left out the fourth P -- "paint job." Just emblazon "Silver Shadow" on the side, and voila!
This is a 2014 Camry, grey and nonstandoutish.
Former car was a really beat up 2006 Hundai Santa Fe that she named Sergio. That, I could sorta see.
A Midsummer Night's Dream opens in Hastings Park in West Medford, Mass on Saturday. It's been both a rewarding and exhausting summer. Producing two shows is too much though - not planning to do it again.
We are downright middle aged.
Anyone else getting tired of rain?
Never heard of him...
He’s right behind you....
I know what you did last summer.
I know too derivative.
It IS the rabbit.
Which rabbit? I see two of them
That’s really Daffy
Howard the Duck?
Apparently, references to Frau Blüker can get a thread locked. So ix-nay on the lüker-Bray.

Is it really only Tuesday? I demand a recount.
I'm thinking you parents of soon to be decamped college freshmen are definitely feeling those tears welling up whenever you focus on the duffels, boxes and lists of things to do.
It's such a moment! Be proud.
Be penniless and proud! Holy moly, those large checks!
And now it is mostly over...
22 days until I'm in Europe for 5 weeks :o
Well, that didn't work...
Try some WD-40
Shrimp n’ grits, chill morning. Whew.
Rained most of the day...sigh. Saved me a couple hours watering trees and shrubs.
Chipped some paint on the front fender. Life will move on...
Today is National Navajo Code Talkers Day. I'm still amazed by these men. They had been punished if they spoke their native language when they were children but then joined the Marines to use their native language to serve our country. They did this in secrecy - they weren't allowed to talk about what they did as the program was classified. It became declassified in 1968. President Reagan set aside August 14th as a day to recognize and honor them in 1982.
I have had the privilege of meeting and hearing Sam Sandoval speak twice. He is one of the last 10 living code talkers from WWII. The code was never cracked.
Thank you to all of the code talkers and their families for their service and sacrifice.
Here is a link to some facts about the code talkers: https://www.history.navy.mil/researc...e-talkers.html
I'm not the codebreaker I uses to be.
Starting the engine tonight!
Don’t forget your dip-stick
My Pappy said, “son

Sadly, all I got was the smell of burning wires. I need to rip out the jumble of wires that is in there now(likely the original harness from 1970) and install a new one
I believe that today is National Tell a Joke Day.
Hey, Canada is, for real, full of very nice people.

“I am one of the 7 billion human beings alive today. We each have a responsibility to think about humanity and the good of the world because it affects our own future. We weren’t born on this planet at this time to create problems but to bring about some benefit.”
— the Dalai Lama on Twitter this morning.
Still blows my mind that I live in a world where that can happen.
When Mrs.PK was still FlingPK, we saw the Stones. Afterwards at my house, we were discussing what "sha-ruby" meant. I pulled out a dictionary, flipped through it, and said "here it is . . . it means gullible."
"It does?" the love of my life responded earnestly.
I knew we were perfect for each other from that moment on. (And she ultimately forgave me after giving me a Charlie Horse).
And yeah, the fact that I was sitting in my kitchen drinking coffee when the Dalai Lama communicated to me from afar blows my mind. Unga Galunga.
Happy Black Cat Appreciation Day, y'all!
Hatch peppers arrived from New Mexico! Chile relleños underway.
Not healthy. But yummy and fun.
I love Chile Rellenos! What time should I stop by?
They take forever as best I can tell, will be cooking all day.
Mild peppers are about done, hot peppers soon.
If you live in west Tejas you can get them, I’m jealous. I have mine shipped from the grower in Hatch. Most “Hatch peppers” you find are like “Vidalia onions” — not really.
I'm in South Central but there isn't much between here and there. Pepper selection far exceeds my knowledge base.
FYI, it's HATCH PEPPER WEEK at Wegmans!!!!
He cared very, very deeply about the 2014 Ice Dancing gold medal that went to Davis & White over Virtue & Moir. But he unfriended me on FB because of the gold medal hockey game. When I found out that all but 3 of the players on the "Canadian" Women's Olympic hockey team played on scholarship at US colleges, I asked, "What does it even mean to skate for Canada if your training is being provided by the American taxpayer?" That's about when he stopped posting here too.
Hmm, I haven't watched the last 4 or 5 Winter Olympics.
To the top! Debating what to do with new information.
My level of typos has gotten out of control.
I'm throwing in the towel on the squash plants. They are disgusting. See ya squash.
Between birds, squirrels, and torrential downpours, I opted out of the backyard garden this year.
Meanwhile, in South Central Texas...

Watched Being There with my son this weekend, forgot just how good Peter Sellers was in that.
“Life is a state of mind.”
I figured beer brewed with hatch chiles would garner more discussion than it did.
I don't think I can move permanently to the beach.
Surely I'm not meant to drink beer all day.
Or am I???
I might be the exception.
Just saw three friends on the Cooking Channel.
Were they being served for dinner?
I was discussing that episode of Twilight Zone with someone recently.
I’ve had the Late Greats by Wilco in my head for about three days now. It can stop, please.
