I'm not sure how man walked before arch support. Did we stay on all fours until New Balance created foam insoles? The world may never know.

when I was but a wee tyke, the only sport shoes out there were Keds which were as flat as a cow's butt. My feet and legs hurt SO bad every night after running around all day in those things. Phil Knight changed some stuff for the better, at least he did for me.

Somewhat ironicaly, I have two of the flattest feet you have ever seen, but counterintuitively they require a lot of support. I had to have some orthotics put in my shoes to relieve the pain...no longer required once cushioned running shoes with arch support arrived on the scene in the 1970s...
