Have not tried, but those all sound like good ideas.

What started off as a good sports weekend quickly dropped into gutter be the end of Saturday. I shall skip all events tomorrow.
Hmmm... no belated birthday wishes for me unless you're 11 months late. Mine isn't until next month.
On the other hand, (have I mentioned this yet?), I found out this week I passed the Nevada bar exam, so I'm licensed in 2 states now. Blessing? Curse? Remains to be seen.
I hear Chico's is nationwide, but that may just be Bad News.
I'm a lector in my church, and I get a reading this morning from Exodus. Lots of smoting. Good way to start the morning. Alas, no begatting.
Good morning from Pittsburgh. We plan to walk to a bakery for breakfast this morning.
I had breakfast for lunch yesterday. Chorizo and cheese omelet.
We are planning on kayaking around the point today and a rousing game of croquet somewhere on campus later on - complete with the required hats. If you know me on FB, theee should be pictures posted later this week.
Met the niece's boyfriend and did round one of the interview. Any suggestions for questions for round 2? Asking random questions about his growing up years.
That bakery won't have Pop Tarts. Or will it?
Speaking of breakfast, a few weeks ago I happened to notice that there was a package of bacon in my fridge that expired the next day. So, doing what any bacon lover would do, I prepared the whole package. For brunch, I had two thick bacon sandwiches, with a side of bacon and another side of bacon.
I didn't have any remorse, cause I prevented a food waste. Fortunately, my next annual physical exam is about a month away. My cholesterol level may be back down to 3 digits by then.

Interesting that DD pointed that out.
i was thinking the same thing.
Hard to go back to work after a week's vacation :(
My vacation starts Friday at 3pm!
Yup! Last weekend. Healthy baby, happy parents.
I love babies!
That said, healthy baby, happy parents is nowhere near enough info. Geez - what is wrong with you people! You are acting like my husband. ;)
Hubby: So and so had their baby.
Me: What's the baby's name?
Hubby: I dunno.
Me: Is it a boy or a girl?
Hubby: I dunno.
Me: How much did the baby weigh?
Hubby: I dunno.
It's so frustrating. How am I supposed to vicariously experience baby cuddles without more info, hmmm?
The thought of having children scares the hell out of me.
And how many stones in weight?
After much delay, my brother is finally on his way to Paris Island. Just swore in and hopped on the bus.
Semper Fi.
Ok, with the twitter sphere urging Canadians to tell American they are great and Americans telling Canada thank you, I had to pause and thing about all of my favorite Canadian authors that wankering better than Bob Dylan.
Robertson Davies (deceased, so, no longer eligible but better than Bob Dylan nonetheless)
Michael Ondaatje (Every year I hope it's going to be him. I'd have given it to him a long time ago.)
Margaret Atwood
Rohinton Mistry
Yann Martel
William Gibson (hey, if Dylan can win it for creating a new genre, Gibson can win it for creating cyberpunk)
Also in the no longer eligible category
Margaret Laurence
Timothy Findley
Farley Mowatt
Alas, this list makes me even more depressed, wankin' Bob Dylan. Why? I've lost so much respect for the award. It will never be the same for me.
It isn't Dylan's fault is it? He didn't have to submit anything did he? I've been skeptical on the whole Nobel thing for quite some time.
If you can accept that Dylan's lyrics are akin to poetry, then it's hard to dispute that Bob has been one of the most influential poet of several generations.
I'm a Bob fan, and think it's well-deserved.
But let us not talk falsely now, the hour is getting late.
So, when can Bruce expect his? Okay, maybe not for his mid 80s stuff but maybe for Born To Run?
It's not so much that I don't consider Dylan a poet, it's that when it comes to great works of literature, I can name 9 Canadians off the top of my head whose work I consider a greater contribution to literature. (And that's just Canadians.) Yes, great songs engender great emotion and yes, more people know the work of Bob Dylan than know the work of Michael Ondaatje, but that doesn't make Dylan better than Ondaatje.
Why mention Canadians - they've only ever had one Nobel Laureate in literature - Alice Munro.
The US only has 4 - Pearl Buck, William Faulkner, Toni Morrison and now, Bob Dylan. Yep, the Nobel Prize in Literature is a crap award. Worse than peace. They get it right sometimes but still - look at that list. Dylan!?!
Good morning! Hoping everyone has a great day!
Thanks Ymo! I am going to take your good wishes and try to make them a reality. Even the weezie needs a mood makeover every so often.
Today is going to be a good day. I don'y know why, I just know that it will be.
Well, so far, it was actually a pretty good day, thanks to Ymo. And, if I studiously avoid the thing on every tee-vee channel later tonight that shall not be named I think I'll sail right into a nice evening, too.
I'm boycotting my TV tonight.
Y'all are missing the one, single, only substantive debate of the year. Although I think it's pretty one-sided on substance and style.
I'm not sure I can spork anybody anymore. :(:o:rolleyes::eek:
Apparently, that medicine comes in single packs now.
So close to Friday. So close to Friday.
Since late August, that other thread 150 pages > 30 pages for the LTE
Using the board default of 20 posts per page.
But we are so much better looking!
So - what should we talk about?
They have made pumpkin pie PopTarts in the past. I bought a box because I suspected they would be nasty. They were. Although, to be honest, not as nasty as I was expecting.
We could just talk about pumpkins.
I haven't bought my pumpkins yet.
Something to do this weekend.
Single malt pop tarts.
Should I have Pop Tarts for lunch?
I did not have Pop Tarts for lunch.
It appears that BandAlum83 is tracking the progress of that other thread to this one. I'm trying to do my part to make sure his number doesn't get to 0. Who's in?
Should I decorate for Halloween?
I haven't yet. But there's still time. Perhaps tomorrow.
I also need to buy a new phone, the land line kind.
What do you think - Target?
Where else would one go to buy a telephone?
I'm open to suggestions.
The knitters?
Now have 2 threads - their very longest, nicknamed Fred, and what has become known as Small Fred.
Fred, as of 1 minute ago, 1,622,652.
Small Fred - 43,795.
Not even a president can beat a bunch of knitters.
My mom's birthday is next week.
She's turning 80!
As a present, my two oldest sons are flying down for a visit.
Though, if I'm being honest, the grandsons will beat any other birthday presents or birthday wishes.
For those who are reading both threads, Silly BandAlum, the LTE is not static!
Five more posts to get to an even 3500, for now.
OPK, how could you!?! With a post about Schrodinger's cat, no less?
All posts about Schrodingers cat belong over here!
Ok, that's just my opinion.
You know how Jason moved a bunch of political related posts to the Election Thread - it's rigged I tell you, rigged!
And to be fair, he really should move a bunch of posts about nothing over here.
Or Occam's Razor.
Alas, I cannot spork OPK until I spork somebody else.
Who should I spork?
Anybody want a spork?
Ok, I have to go finish knitting a baby sweater. The baby shower is Sunday. Almost done, but, I do have to go do it.
By clicking on the replies in the forum view(displays all the threads) you can see who has posted the most in a thread. I've posted in this one nearly 1900 times with DiK not far behind. OPK has posted in that other thread a mere 1961 times. OMG, that other thread wouldn't be vying for the title without OPK.
You have me beat by 800 posts!
Poly Sci / History double major. That stuff is kind of what I do for fun.
Al Smith dinner coverage starting on C-SPAN, should be interesting. These are usually very funny and self-deprecating, but neither of these candidates are very funny or good at light hearted jabs.
Donald can't even look over at Hillary, sitting less than ten feet away.
I cannot find that search tool btw.
In the main view for the Off Topic forum you will see all the threads listed. Near the middle od each thread listing, you will see Replies and Views listed with a number next to each of them. Click on the number. The replies number is active, clicking on the views number won't result in anything.
The knitting is done! Now I have to weave in the ends, block it, and sew on the buttons.
There was a song a few years back called 3 AM.
Is there a song called 6:21am?
I remember that Spin Doctors' song "4:30."
Finally Friday. Always difficult to make it through a week after vacation.
Many from here head down to Port Aransas and Corpus Christi to vacation during the offseason.
Not sure why I can easily listen to podcasts while I work, but the second I switch to music, I lose all concentration.
I posted this on the "other" thread, but it seemed to get immediately lost among yammering. My neighbor's grandmother voted early yesterday. Not terribly unique, except that she just turned 101 and was born before women had the right to vote. Yesterday, she voted for a woman for president (to keep this nonpartisan, I won't tell you which one). The passage of time is truly amazing.
Also, her granddaughter posted live video on FB and it has over 4,000 hits.
I thought it was a ray of optimism in the midst of a truly depressing political season.
Spent last weekend in Pittsburgh. Went by the family homesteads from the 2 times the family lived there. I only lived there twice. Met the current owner. He was leaving as we all piled out of the van. I thought he might wonder why 5 strangers were standing there looking at his house so went up to talk to him. We got pictures of the 3 sisters on the porch and then wandered all around the outside of the house - with his permission.
This made me smile to imagine your marauding bunch of citizens putting the neighborhood on alert. He sounds like a nice, if slightly alarmed man!
Agreed, our Primante's experience was also rather blah. Too much bread up in there. I'll bet the stadium steaks at any of the ballparks are far superior.
Happy to hear that the cake was good. I could eat a big old slab of cake any time of day.
I need to get out more...
I'm probably being petty in another thread.
Getting wings tonight, at what I consider, one of the two-best wings places in the city. Today is a good day.

So, Corollas have a matronly reputation at least compared to their main competition, the Civic.
Let's face it - to maintain our position, we're going to have to start talking about weed.
The kids today call it kush. And really good weed is dank kush.
The ends have been woven in and the sweater is now blocked and drying on my blocking pad in the hallway.
I could make the sweater my new avatar if I knew how to change my avatar.
The weed on my softball field, I coach at a high school, is some dank kush. There's a little holding pond beyond the outfield fence that brews all kinds of nastiness and the county won't let us spray anything so it just keeps coming back.
chocolate fudge - with or without walnuts
Oreos. An embarrassing amount of oreos. Still cringe when I think about that one.
Although, I think the term "dank kush" might have given young weezie pause. Sounds vaguely, uh....fungal infection-ish. As in, "yuck, you might want to put some ointment on that dank kush..."
I hear the opening to SNL was pretty weak. I didn't have time to watch it myself.
Fudge Stripes by Keebler was my poison of choice last night. Now, day trip to Houston!
It's Poldark night!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have not watched Poldark. I'm guessing that weezie thinks I should.
In January I will become a grandfather for the third time. Found out yesterday that in April I will become a grandfather for the fourth time.
I'm getting pretty good at this.
PSA - Ocracoke in October is divine...
