I mean, she's fine. Do you think she's one of the top 10 characters (Ann or Karen) across shows?

I just started watching "The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" on Netflix.
I was never a loyal watcher of either "The Office" or "Parks and Rec". I have seen enough of both to know the shows and the characters but not enough to make a top 10 list. That said, Ron Swanson is number 1.
Love Rashida Jones. Ron Swanson is my favorite sitcom character ever. 30 Rock was hilarious too. Lil Sebastian was a great comeback.
"During this fight, I've seen a lot of changing, in the way you feel about me, and in the way I feel about you. In here, there were two guys killing each other, but I guess that's better than twenty million. I guess what I'm trying to say, is that if I can change, and you can change, everybody can change!"
-Rocky Balboa
Anyone remember Rashida Jones in Freaks and Geeks? Kim Kelly's friend? I am not a watcher of Parks and Rec or The Office, but I did love F&G. Best show ever cancelled after only one season.
That was probably it.
Two loss night...
They really come on strong in the night.
After F&G was cancelled, I had a discussion with a friend, and we decided that maybe it was for the best. The kid who played Sam grew a foot after that season and he wasn't nearly as Sam-like. (I saw him in an episode of Boston Public, and I could not have seen him back on F&G) And I have no idea what the writers could have done with Lindsay and her parents after her summer at Not Nerd Camp. I would love to hear what the ideas were had they not been cancelled. If Judd Apatow and Paul Feig had waited ten years for the show, it may have lasted longer (and even longer streaming), but they would not have had that amazing cast. Suddenly, I am picturing Jeff the guidance counselor. "That is SO not cool!"
Never seen it, though I remember it being advertised when new.
Ted Lasso on Apple TV+, Freaks and Geeks on Hulu. Maybe I should go back to cable?
Drat. Was sure it was a Kuri!

People who walk slowly annoy me. And yes I recognize I am the problem here.
And my flatus is redolent of violets and primroses. So that won't work.
I don't enjoy escalators.
I'm ok with escalators. I don't like revolving doors. Have a strange fear of getting a shoe, particularly a sandal, caught under the door. Plus memories of a description of my brother narrowly missing running into a woman dressed for a very formal occasion while carrying his very muddy football uniform.
I don't like mice - especially when I don't have someone to take care of those caught in a trap for me. I toss the whole thing. Now I need to set out another trap tonight - and probably a couple of others.
Stupid mouse ignored the trap for 10 days in the kitchen. Moved it to the garage yesterday morning and found one in it this morning. I could have walked right past it when I got home from work around 10pm last night - I'm pretending that I didn't.
On an escalator, I fear the crop dusting.
Oh man. I commuted on the DC metro system for 7 years. There was nothing worse on the way into work on a sardine-packed metro than the moment someone cut one and the smell hit your face.
No one said anything but you could see the same look of quiet desperation in everyone’s eyes.
The first mouse I ever caught, I threw out the whole thing, too. I have dealt with them more and more living where I do (woods) and at my mom's house as well. I am much less squeamish in dealing with them. I won't go into details about this last less conventional way I dealt with Mighty Mouse who survived a trap across his neck for at least seven hours, but I will say it did not involve boxing gloves.
Nice! Many years ago when Trump Tower first opened in NYC, friends of mine took their kids to the Big City and they played around inside Trump Tower...their wee kid, maybe five or so, managed to get her jacket sucked into the handrail mechanism, and she was lifted off the ground and ascended the escalator on the outside of the apparatus, up up and away! She was half way up (a loooong way) before they could catch up to her and haul her onto the correct side and yank free her jacket.
Yokel tourists!
I've thought about cats but don't want to deal with the litter box. Was hoping the cats on each side of my townhouse would be enough but they haven't been - or they are chasing them all my way.
Had this issue a few years ago. Came home to find the trap inside the kitchen door flipped over. Was preparing to face the battle of getting rid of it using a gardening fork with a 3 foot handle. Turned over the trap to see no mouse. Back went the gardening fork. Closed the kitchen door to find the mouse, sans trap, behind the door. Back I go for the gardening fork. I flip the mouse into the middle of the garage, thinking I would have Nephew Alex or BiL Alan get rid of it the next day. Couldn't stand the thought of it out there so, using 3 flips with the gardening fork, I moved that critter out of the garage, to the street, and then into the arborvitae at the end of the street, where NA and BiLA had been getting rid of any prior dead mice. I just crossed my fingers that none of the neighbors were looking out their windows to see the crazy lady flipping a dead mouse at midnight.
All this escalator talk reminds me of my favorite comedian, God rest his soul, Mitch Hedberg.
Quote:
An escalator can never break. It can only become stairs. You would never see an "Escalator Temporarily Out Of Order" sign, just "Escalator Temporarily Stairs. Sorry for the convenience."
Well, in my case, the trap was GONE. Had to hunt it down, thinking I would find a live mouse dragging a trap around by it's tail. Instead I found a live mouse with the trap across it's neck. No idea how it survived. I am probably offending animal lovers right now, but hey, I tried to end it quickly.
I was thinking more this . . .

There are definitely ebbs and flows to the DBR posting cadence.

I didn't know who Dan Dakich was before that thread. Sure I heard him on the ESPNs at some point; never institutionalized his name in my brain though. Guess I didn't miss anything.
I took a family trip to Iceland a couple of years ago and while there, couldn't resist the Icelandic version of the Gatlinburg/Myrtle Beach old timey photo. It was great fun and the results are, I've been told, rather Vigo the Carpathian-like.

It comes and goes in waves.
I have no idea who Vigo the Carpathian is, what am I missing? Besides typing into the Google machine?
I definitely need a cronut.

I wrote a letter to my dad - I wrote, "I really enjoy being here," but I accidentally wrote rarely instead of really. But I still wanted to use it so i crossed it out and wrote, "I rarely drive steamboats, dad - there's a lot of stuff you don't know about me. Quit trying to act like I'm a steamboat operator." This letter took a harsh turn right away.
Saw my dermatologist today. I'm good for another year. Don't need any moles chopped off!
I got my natural gas bill today, surprised that it was a little less than double last years for this month. We'll see what happens with electric.
Getting real. New computer arrived today, turn in old one tomorrow.
Question for the LTE - is the universe hinting that I should continue with my recent activities with this news? https://www.scotsman.com/news/politi...xv9U6jUmGf2W9U
I'm skeptical that the ribeye I am about to order is as good as it's price tag suggests. And ribeye is my favorite cut of steak.
Another night work webinar so, yeah, I'm pretty invested in how this ribeye turns out.
Worth every cent. No outside dining so eating alone in my hotel room. But wonderful steak with brussels and a wedge salad.
Yeah. Carpaccio can be very very nice.
I once ate an entire plate of kibbeh nayyeh (raw, minced lamb). It was in Dubai and I thought it would come in a tartare appetizer size. It did not. It was a full plate, probably over a pound, of raw minced lamb. It was my last meal before a 14 hour flight home on a plane that was 90% military contractors and soldiers. Not a good idea.
The full plate of meat was not a good idea NOT flying on a plane full of military folk. That was a great idea. Their was a medical emergency mid-flight and the captain came on and asked if anyone had medical training. Half the dam plane raised their hand.
Correct. I would also add that traveling for work with an expense account has changed what I consider to be a reasonable price for good food. I'm not sure this change has always been for the better. I was recently in a small airport in Florida and the only restaurant was a Chili's and I told my boss that I might go lick the bathroom floor instead. And that's not fair.
"Last week I helped my friend stay put. It's a lot easier than helping someone move. I just went over to his house and made sure that he did not start to load stuff into a truck. " --Mitch Hedberg
I accidentally signed up for two knit-a-longs this month. (And by accidentally, I mean that I forgot I had signed up for the first one when I signed up for the second one.)
No, knit, and they are usually "go knit on your own time and compare progress". One of these two, though, has scheduled Zoom meeting times so we can all knit together. Granted, one can always consume whatever beverage one desires while knitting, but if one is doing a complicated lace pattern, it's not a good idea. Garter stitch? I can do that in the dark, so, sure.
Live free or die.
The Legen (wait for it) dary knitters thread, originally titled The Very Longest Thread, nicknamed Fred, and later officially renamed The Very Longest Fred Ever, in the Completely Pointless and Arbitrary Group on the knitters' website Ravelry now clocks in a 1,790,785 posts. When some posters in Fred announced that they couldn't keep up, Small Fred was started. Small Fred is now at post #55,575.
Unlike the LTE, I have not read every post in either of these threads. Although I check in from time to time to see what they are talking about. Today, in Fred, the discussion is focused on ordering seeds for summer gardens and in Small Fred, the difficulties of moving a roll-top desk when moving from one apartment building to another. Worthy topics. What Pop-Tarts are to the LTE, cake is to Fred.
Spent way too much at Costco today.
This reminds me of when I moved back to Atlanta from Greenville, NC in 2007. A couple of my closest Duke friends (still to this day two of my closest friends) had moved to ATL by that point, and I wanted to see them ASAP. At the time, I was living at my mother’s house, and owing to logistical considerations, my car was still living in Greenville and all I had was a 19-foot box truck, to be turned in the next day. Not to be deterred, I drove the 19-foot box truck clear across town (no small feat in Atlanta) to spend the evening with my friends. I ended up driving back across town to turn the truck in the next morning, on account of it was...unwise for me to drive the truck back home at evening’s end.
I have been doing socially distanced outdoor gatherings around the firepit every other month or so.
I think we've still got a bit. We have grandparents and servicemen/women in and around the house and that's about it. With the little guy running around and wife pregnant with #2, we're just going to keep taking it easy for a bit. We don't have a lot of friends in the areas so that helps! Only been here a few years and 1/3rd of it has been pandemic. Hah!
I wish we could spork ourselves. Every once in a while I really nail a post.
As part of the knit-a-long that is having Zoom get togethers, we got a Zoom class on German short rows this evening. I have now mastered German short rows.
I am firmly convinced I am an efficiency expert.

The backing band cranks. Wonder if that is Duck Dunn on the bass, sure sounds like him.
I have read this post 9 times and I cannot find the Kim Kardashian reference. I know it's in there though.
You rate the thread 4 out of 5 stars. Let's hear the yelp review, man. You've basically said this is the old reliable of threads. You always come away satisfied, order the same thing, but it's not one of the high end, choice threads for special occasions. Is there a thread (gobble, gobble) that earns your 5 out of 5 stars?
I’m having a bit of a grits mishap here in the kitchen this morning . . . .
