Just a reminder...
...the dog should be named "G."
I know... that's what happens when we bring onto the OTB discussions from the Snrub.

Is this how you make subject emoticons? When I try to put it in the Title box, it jumps down into the main box.
Holy jumping emoticons!
:) Okay, I think I got it. I never knew what those "post icons" at the bottom were for. Duh. :o
Kind of like Vegas - what happens there, stays there. ;)
They also have a person beating a dead horse icon to use when the same point is discussed ad nauseum and there is no chance of changing someone's mind. This could be very useful on some of the EK discussions.
What about a pancake bunny emoticon? :D :D :D :D
I'm lost on HPR also...
ahhhh...now I get it. 9F I know, HPR is less used or at least I see it less.
SHPaM
DiK
TG
Thank you for asking, TG. I was drawing a blank on it but was afraid to ask since I had already admitted to being lost on HPR.
Thanks for the explanation. Definitely a useful one. I especially how it sounds if you pronounce SHPaM.
I woke up in the middle of the night and caught part of a show on howler monkeys. They must not have watched Duke play as they did not appear to be in panic mode. ;)
Uhhhh...I'm lost and I can't catch up!
You could always go back to the beginning! :D
Hahahahaha...no:D
I feel like I should post something profound tonight. Now. Immediately.
Tomorrow is Friday. Friday is the day before Saturday.
Thank you. Please tip your waitstaff.
You put your left foot in...
Ugh, what a day.
Nothing profound could come out of my head tonight.
Jim Beam may have something to do with that. Ymm, bourbon.
Thanks. Mr. DA & I are fine; big changes to come for my group, but immediate impact yet TBD. A fistful of colleagues, not so good.
As the News correctly reports, some cuts happened today, with more to come. The slow tug at the bandage, as opposed to the quick rip, is stressing. Am counting my blessings, and continuing to stuff the mattress...
Glad to here you and Mr. are okay. My company just laid off about 1000 people, and restructured some of the survivors. My group is okay, this time. While there are no more "planned" layoffs, if things get worse there probably will be more.
It's pretty scary, these are tough times for sure.
You put your right foot in ...
This has to be one of the funnier things I have ever seen at CIS. On the vt "rugby" team's first trip to Cameron, they were serenaded by the Crazies with the Hokey Pokey-song and dance. Along with "need 5 touchdowns" when they were losing by 35+ points, and "please stop fouling" and "it's a school night," after an insane # of PF called on them for their, uhh, "chippy" style of play (22 PF in the 1st half alone!).
Today is the one year anniversary of Miss Moneypenny joining my little brood of four legged kids.
Yay for Miss Moneypenny!
Didn't think of that. :( Watched Ghost Whisperer and now off to bed as I have to work tomorrow. We're having resident interviews so I will be meeting the next generation of surgeons at Duke. Will keep my eyes open for single guys to hook up with my single girlfriends.
Happy happy, joy joy
Happy happy, joy joy!
:D:D:D
Sigh:cool::confused::):(
Hopefully she won't be too sluggish afterward! At least you'll be there to re-assure her that it's all okay! Does she do well traveling to the Vet? Had a retriever a while back that was adopted and he always knew when we were going to the Dr., he had major issues getting up on the scale... funniest thing! Watching a 180-190lb man, trying to hold a 120lb dog that is freaking out... what a visual! Guess that steel is pretty cold on the piggies! thank god for treats! :D
A halftime PW explosion? I mean its not like the game is on or anything like that...:eek:;):p
Guess not. A 43 point lead PW explosion?
Georgia is officially 21.5 pounds of puppy. This means she has tripled her weight since joining our household. She should hit 35-40 pounds when full grown.
She's still at the vet's. She has a mild reaction to one of the shots, so she's kept there under observation, just to be sure.
She smothered everyone today with puppy kisses/slobbers.
Cheers,
Lavabe
Post-game PW here. I'm gettin' too close to 2000.
My browser is on crack! Every time I click on something in DBR it opens a new window.

That is, if I am to believe something that came into my Suspect Mail box. Apparently, they want me because of my dealings with some money person in Nigeria.
The big giveaway that this was phony was the fact that they missed the comma in Washington, D.C.
Or is that much of a big deal for folks there?
Punctuation just gets in the way of getting the job done...
woohoo! First post on the longest thread! Badabing!!
I have just finished watching my tape of the game. I stayed off line so that I wouldn't see the score. I kept waiting for the Twerps to mount a comeback - I'm still waiting.
That was, indeed, a fun game to watch.
Okay, survey question: were any of the rest of you watching the US Figure Skating Championships? If so, do you agree with me that the results in the women's competition were a bit nutty? I don't know how Alissa Czisny finished ahead of Rachael Flatt, and Ashley Wagner should've been above Caroline Zhang. Sure, short program scores count, but Rachael had more technical content along with decent artistry. And Alissa fell. Unbelievable.
There was plenty of that going around at Nationals, at least in the women's competition IMHO. The judges have found a way around the scoring system that was supposed to keep them from cheating. Caroline Zhang reminds me of Oksana Baiul in that she poses and waves her arms around, succeeding in drawing the judges' attention away from the fact that her jumping is horrible to watch (she kicks her leg WAY out on takeoff).
Spins count too in the new system, a lot. Alissa Czisny's spins are so far superior to Rachel Flatt's, well, they aren't even in the same spinning ballpark. Did you see how centered Alissa's spins were? TO DIE FOR!!!! Yes, she fell on her second triple lutz but she was far enough ahead after the short that she could afford that one mistake. I liked Rachel's skate, she's a nice skater, but I have no problems with the order of finish.
Ashley Wagner dug herself too big a hole (12th place and I don't know how many points) to overcome Caroline Zhang in the short program. Don't feel too bad for her though, under the old scoring system it's highly unlikely she would have been able to rise up to 4th place no matter how well she skated. Yes, Zhang needs to work on jumping technique and she's got to skate faster if she ever wants to be world champion but again, spins, TO DIE FOR Part 2. I love the new scoring system cause it rewards the spinners. Have you noticed how few 'all jump - no spin' skaters win anymore? Hooray! If she were skating today, Suraya Bonaly probably couldn't crack the top 5 at worlds, ever.
Alissa also has better extension and did you notice how long she held her positions in the spiral sequence? OMG!!!!! The only thing Rachel did better in her program was land her second triple lutz. I mean really. That shouldn't make the difference. Sorry Arkie, but I definitely disagree with you, I don't think Alissa's score was padded at all.
Can you tell I don't view FIGURE skating as purely a jumping competition?;)
Anyone watching the Australian Open? Federer lost the first two sets and is currently down 2-1 in the third set. Will he be able to fight back to take the last three sets?
Well, the #1 seed in the Women's side of the Aussie open is already out - will Federer suffer the same fate?
I wish I could get that trainer to show up here to work on my back. That would be sweet!
D A Y U M.
Wow what an end to the 4th.
And to a 5th set we go. I'm going to have to catch up in the am. I'm supposed to be somewhere at 8am, so I better get some sleep.
Living in the DC area (VA side) - located so near to the MD journalism school -we have to suffer through media bias towards MD (and to lesser extent for VPI and maybe UVA), which usually means at least some "Duke hatred" in the media. So it is soooo much fun to see them try to find ways to make the game today NOT sound too bad... Tonight's examples in local TV and radio included emphasizing that Duke is, after all, about to become the #1 team in the nation (so apparently not bringing it with your players is therefore "undersandable"). The other theme has been that CIS is such a historic/rough place to play (even "though populated with fans named Biff, Taylor and Chase"). I am STILL waiting to hear one of them go to the usual Terp standby -- "the refs cost us this game." Which would mean, obviously, that they msde about 20 totally biased/unfair calls (and none for MD).
BTW, in discussing the outcome with a few MD fan friends today, quite amazingly NONE said they WATCHED the game... only to later argue with me about what actually happened on a certain play... Hmmmm.
-BDBD :D
Ahhhh, Twerp fans...thankfully not many around here.
Fortunately, I have two in my family.:D One of whom is my brother (who went to Louisville and loves Carolina). This is the same brother who earlier this year said that Vasquez was the second best point guard in the ACC.
Ooooooh, I'm waiting to call him up this morning.:D
Fair points, all. Up until she fell, I thought that Alissa had it locked up. She was temporarily rattled by the fall (subsequent popped jump, where I thought she lost it), but then she pulled herself back together and finished strong. I do hope that Caroline the Contortionist gets the rest of her technique together. If she ever does, she'll be truly phenomenal. She reminds me of Sasha. Prediction: I think Rachael will finish ahead of Alissa at Worlds. Rachael is a much steadier competitor. I'd love to see Alissa hold her nerves in check for Worlds, but I'm still skeptical.
BTW, ITA about Surya Bonaly. I couldn't stand her skating. All she did was jump. Everything else was just skating to get up speed for the next jump.
We'll see. Would love to, but could possibly be tied up w/ work that weekend and won't know until the week prior (ahem), so it's going to be a last minute call. :(
As an aside, and I think you'll get a kick out of this, when I was in grad school, I had to take an Event Management class. Our final project was a group project where we had to develop and submit an RFP and do a presentation as if we were trying to bid on an event (to host it). It was a MASSIVE undertaking. Massive is actually an understatement, and there were about 8 people in my group. What event did we choose? The State Farm US Figure Skating Championships. :D
Our professor and the panel brought in to evaluate the RFPs and presentations said we were so thorough, we could actually put on the event. We'd consulted w/ the USFSA when gathering information, and they even asked us for some of what we did. :D
Bear Grylls is in the jungle, eating the liver of a monitor lizard.
Kinda reminds me about Julius Hodge a few years ago. His locker room material included the following quote just before coming to CIS when asked about the crowd/intimidation: "I'm not gonna let some pimply-faced nerd/geek with a 4.7 GPA tell me how to play basketball." (or something like that)
He had 7 points, 7 TO, a couple rebounds (maybe) and fouled out of the game with several minutes to play to the chorus of "julius, julius, etc.:" Can't remember the final. It wasn't close but it wasn't a 41 point smackdown either:D.
From an old DBR t-shirt-Top Ten Terp Excuses:
10. thought games lasted only 39 minutes
More later. I'm still trying to catch up on other OTB threads and EK stuff from the game yesterday. Plus, I like dragging out the suspense...;)
I just kept asking, "Hey Vasquez! Are you having fun yet?":D
I still have fond memories of the Duke-holes game from '92, when Monstrous talked smack the week before the game. He said, "Duke's not the best team in the ACC, let alone in the country," among other things. Can't remember how he played, but I do remember the guy at half court that was dressed as Monstrous (green face, fake bolts sticking out the side of his neck). We beat them, of course. :D
I actually liked Len Elmore's broadcast yesterday. He actually was quite good with his exchanges with Waner.
Gary really didn't sweat yesterday.
Quit posting. You're slowing me down on posting the top 5:p:o;).
5. Too busy making plans for postgame riot.
4. Their Boozer was better than ours.
I missed Dick Vitale.
3. Kept wishing Battier really was our daddy.
2. Juan Dixon? We needed two Dixons.

Didn't see any SPEAR THE TURTLE signs.
