I'm positively inspired! Ready to patrol the ramparts! And rake leaves too!

When I return home, I am going to picture Weezie standing behind me making sure I work on cleaning the basement.
And I'll watch the game. LET'S GO, DUKE!
I am at work. Someone has to be.
MLB..tv for the rest of the year for $3.99, FTW
I'm guessing they can reel off 60-70 posts about the debate without much trouble.
I petition that jk set up a chat room for the debate tomorrow or we will be left in the dust over here. Not fair!!!
Every bone in my head aches at the thought of the media spleening over the impending horse poop storm Monday night.
Yes, bones in my head.
It is going to be a madhouse...
I have to confess to being a Facebook stalker more than a Facebook poster. This weekend, I've re-connected with a group of people that I knew while living in Korea. Our father's worked for the same company and we lived in the same compound. It is fun to see what they all are doing now. And to compare memories.
Although he isn't teaching there any longer, I discovered that a DBR member was teaching there.
I somehow taped the last part of yesterday's game and am now watching it. I think we win but it isn't over yet. I'll keep you posted. :D
We won!
More rain here in South Central Texas. The commute in is going to be awful. The upside is that my lawn will be green and I will save $18-20 because I won't have to water my yard for the next few weeks.
Washed my car yesterday, so of course it rains today :)
Is it so wrong to not reeeeeeally want to watch the debate??? Like mental castor oil. Not that I've ever had any of that, gross.
It's raining here in VA!!!! Yay!!!
Bold statement Ymo! I thought it was mandated by the IRS, FBI, Nascar, NOW, and the Toledo School of Meat-Cutting.
I was last through Toledo in 2014.
That other thread got locked for a while.
I'm finding reasons to stick around an empty church building to avoid the possibility of catching any part of the debate. I'm amazed at how people strongly on one side or the other think the other side are total idiots.
Aw gee whiz, not like there aren't a bagillion other places that political fixators can't get their browbeatings on.
There's only one DBR LTE. Ta---daaahhhh.
Correction DinK: many of them, on both sides of the aisle, don't "think" it, they "know" it, and therein lies the animosity and mass infuriated stupidity.
You are being, as always, generous and kind in your characterizations.
Otoh, it was a lovely little rain last night and the reseeded lawn is blissful this morning!
Better to mow down grass than push up daisies.
Ah geez:cool:, how I crack myself up!
Watching the Notre Dame game broadcast for the first time. 14-14. Whew, thought we were gonna get skunked early.
28-28 fourth quarter, 9:10 to go. Dame driving.
Crap. Dame up by seven, only 7:46 to go. Hope we still cover the 20.5.
(in all honesty, that was on my mind at this time at the game)
I do love the internet. I re-connected with people that I knew in Korea 40+ years ago. (Yes, I'm old). Our fathers all worked for the same company and we lived in the company compound. The pictures are being shared - pretty funny.
I recently celebrated my 45th. My gravy comes from a packet.
You can't do that on television...
Ymmm, beer about to get passed on number of views.
I suggest we take up a collection to have OPK and Ymo be guest conductors of the Pep Band during a game in Cameron. But I want to play the drums for the tip.
You could think to crowdsource or crowdfunding it. Maybe think to take Bitcoins.
It's not the thought that counts. It's the thought turned into making it happen that counts.
Really, now that I think about it, it's the doing that counts. I think.
But if I am guest conductor, we're doing Danny Boy. Like, a dozen times.
I didn't march people around much and that was a good thing. I move to the beat of my own drummer.

Love that quote. And that drummer.
^^^This, good sirs and ladies, is why the LTE will never pass from this earth!
Perhaps you can hide on The Dark Side of the Moon.
Perhaps my favorite Pink Floyd story:

And favorite Nick Mason if you like old Floyd and have the time:

Edit: Nevermind, it costs out the end of Echoes pt. 1 where the drums really kick in. I'll see if I can find a better link.
Selena Gomez just hit 100,000,000 Instagram followers. I'm falling behind.
"Beer Bellies in Bikinis" -- a small niche, but a niche nonetheless
Going to fill some growlers on the way home, will report back at the appropriate time.
Anyone home?
I can now officially rent a car without paying the "young driver" penalty. Guess it is all down from here, eh?
Standing alone my senses reeled.
I typed "beer bellies in bikinis" yesterday, and now there is a hyperlink where I typed that. Odd, I don't know how to do that and have never seen the page that it links before.
Truly.
Odd.
Did a mod add that, or is this thread developing a sentient sense?
I got nuthin. It's just one of those days...
C'mon. It's all about when pigs fly...

Watching the Clemson game hoping to catch a glimpse of my nephew on the sidelines. Not sure I can find him as the sidelines are very crowded.
Hope you spotted him.
Watched the SNL debut for about ten minutes then hit the hay. Thought the opening skit was too long, even during those ten minutes. I'm worrying about the media/press/pundits today...they are so frantic/foaming that Hill get elected, I think they are going to collapse from the strain.
Apparently, all quiet on the election front.
I enjoyed SNL the other night. Weekend Update is always the best these years, but when they mock politicians it's SO much funnier than any other skits they try. They simply aren't capable of coming up with memorable fake characters any more like they did for so long. The sinkhole skit was pretty funny, too, but I could be biased as a nerdy looking guy with a hot wife.
Toxic Masculinity?
I just can't help myself.
I know there are a ton of important things going on. Hurricane Matthew is wreaking havoc in the Caribbean and is headed this way. Politics is depressing. The cost of higher education is spinning out of control. But can we all just take a sec today to pray about the most important thing: is Kim Kardashian okay?
Thank you in joining my solidarity on this international crisis.
I'm wondering if we should start a vigil?
I don't care how much money you have - who needs a $4.5million dollar ring?
The attention span of a gn..squirrel?
I ordered an iPhone 7 Plus through work today. Go ahead, flame away.
My iPhone 6 is getting old.
My Jitterbug is still going strong.

Anybody got any good jokes?
Will the pre game Blue Devil walk tomorrow now become the Blue Devil swim/skinny dip? If so, I'm leaving it as soon as the cheerleaders go by.
Yeah, I'm not sure where to go with this.
Take this thread to Cuba!
Am I the only one that thinks the new Apple IOS 10 sucks?
I'm good with it. But then I spent this evening at the drag strip.
Kinda quiet for a Sunday. Everyone must have been posting in that other thread.
A quiet Monday also...
LTE is organic. It cannot be rushed or slowed. Zenyatta Mondatta.
De do do do, De da da da...
...stuck in Lodi again.
I went down to Durham this past weekend to go to my high school reunion and take in the Duke-Army game. Hurricane Matthew had other ideas. With the flash flood warnings and low lying areas between my parents house and Wally Wade - I didn't venture out. Then the power went out where the reunion was supposed to be held and that got cancelled. Then the power went out at my parents' house.
At least there was an informal gathering on Friday night so I saw some high school friends. And I saw some Duke friends for Sunday brunch before I flew back home.
And you saw your parents?
-blinks-
And yes, I saw my parents. It's always nice to see my parents. But I saw them in May and June and August, so, not that I didn't enjoy visiting, but c'mon - due to Ronnie's illness, I'd missed my last 2 reunions. I was planning to catch up with at least a couple of people I hadn't seen in 15 years!
My parents came to visit last weekend. As I don't have kids, visits are fairly widely spaced(5-7 years) so this was a very infrequent event. I go to see them 2-3 times a year at their place.
Somebody actually speculated that the presidential race thing might overtake us here.
Never!!!
They speculated that IN the presidential race thread.
Cheaters.
But the bottom line - as has been pointed out upthread - they don't have enough time.
And I wish they had less time than they do. Can't wait for it to be over - but I think I dread the outcome just as much.
Those time calculations assume average posting volumes over said time period. There is zero force keeping those posting rates at current levels other than the 1 minute betweens posts by an individual.
So, while unlikely, it isn't impossible. Statistics are informative, not determinant.
This thread is still 4,125 posts ahead. The election is in 26 days.
And you gotta admit -- there's a bunch to discuss over on that thread. I'm glad to see that folks are taking the election seriously.
Even if that thread passes this one, the other one has a limited time duration. This is the LTE.
Rather than worry about either thread, I try to enjoy both.
No matter how you slice it, keeping this thread in front feels... right
And, as always:

Heading to Pittsburgh for the weekend. Any thoughts?
I'm sorry. I suspect some of you are fans. But I have to say it.
Bob Dylan wins the Nobel Prize for Literature!?! I'll never look at the prize the same way again. I can't take that seriously. I just can't.
Since they don't give Nobels posthumously*, Lennon and McCartney can't win and McCartney without Lennon doesn't deserve it.
*If they announce the winner and the winner dies before the ceremony, the prize is still awarded.
The Presidents are gaining on us. It's under 4000. And yes, I'm posting over there too. I have to post at least twice here before I post there again.
Well I think LTE will never lose it's looks. At least if I'm any indicator.
Sorry, the only thing I've had lately were these:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NEOHFbhWiG0
Maybe we should have a poll on how close they will get?
But - some of my best friends are beer drinkers.
Dodgers!
Friday Night Football...
Breakfast cereal!
Wow, an explosion of silliness allowed the other thread to knock off 150 posts of deficit to this one. At that rate, it will pass this thread in 26 days. An anomalous day perhaps, but may get close.
It's my birthday!
I'm going to celebrate by attending a knitting workshop. By choice. I'm chuffed about it.
Also - tomorrow (postponed from today because Number 3 son is taking the PSATs tomorrow morning) we are going to Screamfest at Canobie Lake Park. Which is just an excuse to ride a roller coaster at night in October. Not that I need an excuse but getting the kids to go with me is a great birthday present. Actually, Number 3 son and I have the same favorite ride - the Tilt-A-Whirl and he maintains that the best Tilt-A-Whirl is at Canobie Lake Park.
Happy Birthday, Bostondevil!
Another 75 or so and it is still early...
I think the election thread is in its biggest week that it will have. After the third debate, if Trump leakage continues, there simply won't be much more to discuss.
LONG LIVE LTE
^^^^^ Haha, that's a good one Mtn.Dev... Unless just wishful thinking.
Let's not forget we have standards over here. We're all self-assured, good looking and highly intellectual. We accept diversity of poptart proclivity without heartlessly condemning each other. Each of us would be eager to point anyone needing help in the direction of someone else who could help them! Come one, come all and come with enough to cover your own bar tab.
Well - some folks don't get it. We're like Seinfeld, except not funny.
We're not trying to be funny! The LTE isn't supposed to be funny. It's just supposed to be. That's all there is to it.
Looks like this autumn is turning out to be a dud here in WNC. Sigh.
I bought a two pack of Pop Tarts today at the cafeteria at work. Strawberry frosted. They will be toasted tomorrow.
Apparently, our nationally televised football game is slowing them down.
Using stats dating back to the 5th of August, that other thread will pass us on approximately 1/1/2017. This of course assumes that both threads maintain the same pace of posts over that time period. The election is 23 days away and it should be noted that the other thread can reel off 100+ posts without much trouble.
I forgot to have my Pop Tarts this morning.
No reason to be ashamed. It's a very interesting discussion.
But back to pop tarts and all, I am in a serious breakfast funk. Looking for different ideas that the usual eggs/cereal/grits/starch kind of thing. I can do fruit and yogurt for a spell, but then get tired of it.
Blessings for your son, BD. Fight on young man! The oatmeal and pizza additions sound tasty, more of a dinner entree to me though. How about a little tabasco in there?
We eat a lot of the steel cut, small crock pot, four hours overnight low heat.
OPK, have you tried adding nuts, pumpkin seeds, shredded unsweetened coconut, dried mango, currants, etc?
SUE71ESQ, Happy Belated Birthday!!!! Any cake left over for your old pal weez?
