Still working 33 years later. So, yes definitely worth it. The key with different types of rice is how much water to add. At least for an old model like this.
Thanks guys!
World Cup(Por-Gha), Andor season 1 finale, World Cup(Bra-Ser), Duke vs. Or. St., No Time to Die
Maybe Vandy basketball?
I made my wife go back into a store after we had already checked out to buy me a pair of socks that says, “I’m the kind of dirty that doesn’t wash off”.
Is spicy V8 juice a viable alternative for a Bloody Mary?
And yes, tonight was the night you could watch them lose in basketball and football nearly simultaneously.
Heading home today. Glad it’s not tomorrow. Yuck.
No flames, I must not be doing it right.
Okay, I think that's a flaw in the DBR matrix! Happened to me, too, and it doesn't make sense. We can't fight with our friends?!?! It also begs the inverse --- if I have flamed the everloving poo out of someone but they suddenly took a turn and I wanted to spork them, I couldn't?!?! That ain't right.
The meltdown at the Vandy message boards is at full effect.
I pressure washed part of my driveway this afternoon. There is a nice trail of dirt, etc. from my driveway to the storm sewer. I hope it rains soon.
Still no action...
Sigh, weekend almost over.
I don’t think I’ll have any problems retiring. I’ve already taken multiple sabbaticals, including one after my MBA of 1.5 years. Probably hasn’t been great for my career but at this stage I’m pretty comfortable with my focus being on freedom, flexibility and family.
This is not going well.
Two silkworms challenged one another to a race. It ended in a tie.
I took two weeks off between my job in Ohio and the one here in San Antonio. I cashed in vacation that covered those days off. I took zero time off between my current jobs and cashed in 10+ weeks of vacation. Essentially, I've been paid continuously or even double paid since June of '03. Even though that time has included now 6 employers.
I mean, you don't hate to see it. Do you?
Yeah, just couldn’t do that. Don’t even understand it, really. I’m pretty good at effing around. And, for the record, while my 3 parents were wonderful enough to take care of my college tuition, everything after has been me. That is to say, my sabbaticals have been self funded but I recognize if I had undergraduate debt my choices may have been different.
Well, crap. Here we are again.
I have huge lectures at the University of Chicago and Cincinnati Children's this week. Getting on a plane this afternoon and I'm flying to Chicago and then driving from there to Cincinnati and flying home Thursday morning. I've spent a decent amount of time in Cincinnati and I've flown through Chicago dozens of times. But this is only the second real trip to Chicago and it's just one night. Food recommendations would be appreciated. I'm looking for delicious more than I'm looking for swanky. I don't care if it's a Burger Bar as long as it's amazing.
Since you are a noted admirer of Big Meat, may I suggest Gibson's? They have their own USDA designation for prime meat...and while it is clearly upscale, you can also sit at the bar or just grab a table and really enjoy a feast. Important info: the side dishes and desserts are all comically huge.https://www.gibsonssteakhouse.com/gibsons-chicago/
So you're saying they will respond well to a dude with a shaved head and a Southern accent who says things like: "Yes. I would like for you to bring me a ribeye cooked medium rare the size of a dump truck tire please. And don't trim the fat. That's where the flavor is."?
It’s Giving Tuesday! Give a little if you’re able to your favorite non-profit.
To that end, here's a shameless plug...
Our organization uses numbers for one bedroom apartment rentals directly from HUD. We operate in a four-year rolling average to keep numbers from spiking or dipping in a reactionary way.
We take that average for the rental and multiply the total cost my 3 (the income most landlords and rental agencies want to see for qualification) and extrapolate an hourly wage.
It's been a game of "catch up" as late, as the rent from 1/20 to 1/21 rose 25%, but everyone across the board is reacting to dramatically increased costs.
Personal plug - I'm the Living Wage Program Coordinator, and we currently run the largest employer certification program in the country!
Thanks for the question and feel free to PM if you would like more information.
Tuesday you irredeemable bitch.
Good Wednesday morning!
Is it April 1st?

What’s new — Ancalle and Maia Gatlin, an aerospace engineer at the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI), created a mechanical device loaded with pumps, nozzles, and tubes meant to recreate the physics — and sounds — of human bodily function. They named it the Synthetic Human Acoustic Reproduction Testing machine (yep, S.H.A.R.T.).
They are each a helluvan engineer.
Wilson will be devastated to know that one of the singers, Christine McVie, from his favorite band, Fleetwood Mac, has passed.
Anybody local interested in a last-minute ticket to the game tonight? Possibly two tickets, if you are willing to pay face value.
Pretty psyched about that Cocaine Bear movie.
Had to eat a $102 ticket tonight. Not cool. Extremely rare for a ticket to go unused in my family, but things do happen.
But I did get a hat!!! And I didn't have to roll a drunk student for it. Found it amongst some trash. And yes, I will boil it a few times before I wear it. I knew when I first saw those hats, ONE WOULD BE MINE!
Is boiling enough? And what do you do with the pot you boil it in?
Ymo, who is the person you follow on election twitter?
That'd work here, too.

"Mah Nà Mah Nà" debuted as part of Umiliani's soundtrack for the Italian mondo film Svezia, inferno e paradiso (Sweden: Heaven and Hell [lit. Hell and Heaven]) (1968), an exploitation documentary film about wild sexual activity and other behaviour in Sweden. The song accompanied a scene in the film set in a sauna...

Is that DeSantis standing behind Peter? I can’t see the face but I recognize the boots.
Indian or sushi for Friday take out?
I do not curry favor by favoring curry.
Also an earlier version of the muppets take.

I know this from Benny Hill when I was a kid, but I can't find a good video. His show would get me laughing into tears sometimes.
Went with Indian.
Y’all eat your bananas with or without the shell?
I love hot tea but I never order it out because I'm afraid of what I'll say when they ask me about tea bags.
uh oh. For greatly different reasons, my English mother was so disdainful about how tea was presented at most U.S. restaurants that she travelled with printed instructions on how to do things right...i.e. don't bring me a cup of tepid water with a sad tea bag lying next to it.
Some of you were worried, no?
Confused. What's up (and I saw the outages and suspicions of criminal activity)?
Wasn't the Moore Co power outage roughly the same time as the DBR forum outage? Seems to me a little more than possible that there could have been some correlation there.
Little chilly, having chili.
I just have to say that the holes' football team losing three in a row and the basketball team losing four in a row, well, it just makes me smile.
Perhaps the Duke curse can still pack a whallop.
Huh? That Moore county outage was targeted and intentional. Weird.
It is going to be in the mid 70s here. I'm headed to Detroit.
Pot makes you paranoid.
Kind of irks me that one person even went into great detail about how one has to shoot in just the right spot to cause the madness. I am worried it's just going to give too many other nuts out there the same idea. Kind of like the DON'T LICK THE TOADS warnings.
Well, if you read the longer articles, the act was either timed to shut down a heavily protested drag queen event, or a huge coincidence that also shut down a drag show that was being heavily protested.
I'm not big into conspiracy theories, but I'm even less into big coincidences.
The sheriff says they have not heard anything that would specifically point to the drag show connection. I am sure they are looking into that, which would greatly narrow down the suspect list. A really, really horrible AND stupid thing to do since, if caught, they could be charged with domestic terrorism.
My SIL's mother is in an assisted living facility in Pinehurst. I am sure they have some sort of backup generator for emergency equipment, but think of the elderly living at home with no heat last night. Or folks who depend on oxygen machines or other life-dependent equipment. Think of all the food people will have to toss. When they get them, they need to be made examples.
Done ranting. This really pissed me off in case you can't tell.
Well, the article I read has a quote from the woman who organized the protest saying that investigators had come to her house, but she insisted that she had nothing to do with it and that the power outage was an act of God.
I've rarely read a more guilty sounding denial.
As bundabergdevil mentioned earlier, it must be someone with knowledge of EXACTLY where to shoot. So maybe they can narrow it down to a much smaller circle in your diagram of former or current electrical persons w/ties to the protest group. As I said, the sheriff said they had not found any connections, but I am sure they are looking hard at them.
Whoever did this thinks he's really clever, but he will soon find out what a dumbass he really is.
If I were a mod, I would correct all thread titles to be grammatically correct. For example, those that use an apostrophe s to indicate plurality. Not that there's any thread out there like that currently, mind you. it's merely a hypothetical.
It seems my pedantry knows no bounds.
A pirate walks into a bar with a steering wheel sticking out of his pants.
The bartender says “hey, do you know you’ve got a steering wheel sticking out of your pants?”
The pirate replies “Aye — and it’s driving me nuts!”
I haven't clicked on it yet, but I assume that the thread in question relates to various things possessed by Duke point guards.
You know, like
Bobby Hurley's assist record
Quinn Synder's hair
Wojo's floor slapping
Sean Dockery's half court buzzer beater vs Va Tech
Tre Jones's intentional missed FT vs Carolina
Andre Buckner's shove of Matt Doherty
I am more puzzled by a particular long-running thread which includes more than 880 posts without any mention of a Rolex that tells time in the form of a question.
Avenatti going to jail.
Layovers always fun...

Of course, it is appropriate to ask, does anyone really need socks?
When you are allergic to nickel and many dark colored dyes use nickel and sometimes those dyes are used in the manufacturing of shoes, it is somewhat essential to wear socks. Sadly, most dark colored socks are also given their color with dyes containing nickel, so, white cotton socks are even more essential.
Socks for everyone!!!!
At least at home with an 8:30 start time I'd have a 50/50 shot of making it through the game. Here in the Eastern time zone, no chance.
Anyone got a favorite bean?
Also, I think the scene where Paulie is staring out the window at the end of Pine Barrens with the aria playing in the background might be the greatest shot in the entire series.
