Trust me, it gets worse.
As Frank Zappa once said . . . .

But I know you’re up on your bands from Aberdeen.
I guess I don’t get politics. They have a Purple Heart war hero and author of the great American socially conservative novel, Representative Santos.
Another way too early flight.
Something to listen to while waiting at the gate:

Steve Miller’s cover of this was really big, but not many people know Paul Pena. Both were San Francisco musicians and we’re in neighboring rooms of a recording studio. Steve heard Paul recording this song and asked if he could record a version too. Steve’s came out first — but Paul’s is the original.
(and the better one IMHO).
Actually, here in Asheville the reverse is often true.
In the summer, big storms that don't even affect the mountains will mean that small planes to Asheville from other areas never take off the night before. So the 5:50am flight connecting through Atlanta isn't there and it's cancelled. It creates a domino effect where all those passengers are delayed and miss their connections etc etc.
I know that especially for smaller airports, if you want to maximize chances of getting to your destination, you have to take the early flights, like REALLY early...typically I get up a 3:45 a.m. to make 5:45 flights to Durham for football season...after that burst of activity, most other flights don't leave until very late morning or early afternoon...the longer you wait in the day, the better your chance of missing a connection (and I've missed plenty in the past several years).
