Didn't we all post about lawnmowers?

I don’t have a lawnmower. Unless you count the kid across the street.

I'm feeling some deja vu.
I'm not going to look for it, but I'm pretty sure I've posted that exact sentence before in this thread. ^^
Trying out a new blueberry muffin mix. Substitution at the grocery store curbside service is forcing the change.
Kind of like when my children say: yes you already told me that Mother.
We have a guy who talks so much that I literally hide when he's mowing, keeping obvious movement to a minimum in case he sees me on the first floor of the house and rings the doorbell to chat. It's always something here at Casa weezie.
Tell him to get used to it! Where I work we have been doing the same required training modules FOR YEARS! The exact same presentations and questions. No one actually watches the videos anymore b/c they already know the answers to all the questions at the end. It's just a matter of clicking through all the screens until you get to the end. So, yes, it's obnoxious, but . . . welcome to adulthood!
Had to replace the battery on the Kinsa thermometer. Apparently, I've been taking my temperature too much.
Current family debate: what constitutes having visited a state? Do you have to have had a meal there? Stopped at a sight? Filled up on gas? Stayed the night?
Seems my family cannot come to an agreement. One thing we do all agree on - simply having a layover in a state does not count.
Okay, not awful not great. This mix reminds me of desserts in Europe. The locals will say they are sweet, but as an American that grew up on loads of processed foods with multiple type of sweeteners, you can taste the attempt but wonder if that is all there is.
My general feeling is that it has to have involved some sort of stop. Gas, food, an attraction.
A few are more lenient, only one leans more restrictive.
I admit that my personal rule is rather restrictive. I wonder if anybody says you have to do more than have an overnight stay to claim that you have visited a state. I had driven through Delaware many, many times before I finally started counting it after I went to a wedding there.
Yeah. More than once.
I've spent a weekend in Newport as a quickie getaway vacation. The family rented a house on the shore for a week one summer. I've run a couple of downtown 5ks in Providence where I thought it would be fun to stay in a nice hotel in town the night before. Rhode Island is lovely!
My requirements are less stringent. I haven't had an overnight stay in South Dakota, Wisconsin, nor Montana. I've passed through them and made sightseeing stops on multiple occasions.
My counter example would be someone who lives in NC and has been to Virginia thirty times, say to Roanoke, but always returns home. Have they never been to Virginia to the extent it counts?
92 right now, massive gin and tonic looms, it's medicinal in this weather, probably even tax deductible!
"It's half an inch of water, and you think you're gonna drown"
Last night, we finished a bottle of wine that had been a gift to Sister Anne and BiL Wayne. The label said "It's what's inside that counts". The wine is bottled in a very heavy glass bottle called a Shiner. It is then etched to be a commemorative bottle. If there is a flaw in the etching/painting, they slap the paper label on it and, I think, donate it to fundraisers. When we finished the bottle, I decided to soak it to remove the label and see what was underneath. It was actually a commemorative bottle that has meaning to our family. We are going to see if we can get some additional bottles.
i'm pretty strict - an airport layover or interstate rest stop doesn't count. Need some sort of activity / meal. I did a little consulting gig in Providence - not bad. I like small airports like Providence, ILM, and AVP - easy to get in and out or meet someone. Sorry I didn't get to see a PawSox game...
I hope OPK forgives us (me) and comes back!
I have long had Mississippi on my list of visited states, but right now, I can't remember when it was that I stayed overnight there.
SWEET! An entire day spent waiting for DirecTV to fix the dish after a week long outage. 8am appointment. And guess what?!
THEY DIDN'T SHOW!!!! :D:D:D:D They confirmed yesterday, I took the day off and lolol no contact, no tech call, no supervisor, no dispatch message, just ain't coming today! Sorry, the guy got busy and decided I wasn't worth the effort.
At least I have several new friends in Tulsa at the DirecTV support office so there's that. Hours of talking to each other. I think one of them might name their baby after me.
Wow, I think I am beyond enraged and straight into lunacy. It will be ANOTHER WHOLE WEEK before they THINK they MIGHT come out. NO promises but I'd better be smiling and welcoming.
I still pay for cable.
Did I tell you I finally got Disney +? And I've watched Hamilton, well, most of it.
inch of rain last night, no need to water!
Happy to report that BiL Alan's hip replacement surgery went well. Rehab process will tell the tale.
Doing my least responsible event since March. Meeting cousins at a rental house in Lake Toxaway for a few nights. I will be masking and social distancing.
I have had several picnic lunches with friends. We going for a foursome on Saturday. Positivity rates for the towns these friends live in (plus mine) are all under 1%.
The Boston Globe has a new map up on their website color coding all the towns by number of daily new cases per 100,000 population. Green is less than 4/100,000 a day, yellow 4-8, red over 8 and white for towns that have had less than 5 cases total for the past 14 days. At least 2/3rds and maybe more like 3/4ths of Massachusetts is green or white.

I work on a college campus, and I keep getting emails from campus security with the subject "Bears on Campus".
I'm wondering if they've received a negative result on their COVID test, and if they've been obeying the mask rules. I'll report back with more info.
Today's episode, The Quarantine Adventures of T-Bone and Dad: T-Bone Returns to College, started about 15 minutes ago when the Fearsome Twosome pulled out of the driveway.
So - nobody is going to comment on Bostondevil finally learning how to embed a video into a post?
I missed out on eating peaches this summer.
Ymmm, peach cobbler.
Hmmm, let's see if I can do it again . . .
Everybody has seen this by now, right? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0l3-iufiywU
We sank, just like a rock.
Really? Just now?
Not really. That was a comment made by someone on an episode of 60 minutes shortly after the pet rock craze.
My high school's student council sold pet rocks decorated in the school's colors during homecoming week as a fundraiser one year. I bought one. Don't know where it is now though although it might be in box somewhere in my parents' attic.
Has anybody else been watching the Marble League?
Paddies introduced me to them last summer. I have been closely following this summer's edition.
Paddies is an O'rangers fan. I have both adopted them and struck out on my own, falling for the Oceanics when I heard their story. The are famous for being terrible at water events.
The competition has 16 events, event 14 was posted yesterday, two more to go.
I find these competitions surprisingly addictive.

I haven’t played with marbles since we moved back to the US from Germany in the early 80s. I may have lost a few...
I have an Oceanics t-shirt now. I bought Paddies one for the O'rangers.
Part of me really wants to be retired.
One...flew over the cuckoos nest....the other...
I don’t mean to direct this toward you, and are not calling you out in anyway.
I don’t want to be retired, but in the last year, Prostate Cancer radiation and major back surgery is trying to tell me that I might have to retire. I’m really fighting it because I have always enjoyed my career, and also enjoy yard work and house maintenance, both for myself and family/friends. Sitting around doing hardly anything but recovering from the back surgery is not what I had planned, and is not enjoyable, as I’ve always been active. My surgeon is not optimistic about my full recovery and ever being able to do all the things I used to take for granted. Turns out that I might not be invincible. 😡
Not looking for sympathy. Just saying that everyone should be grateful and enjoy being able to work and play while they can.
What? What did the other do!?! Don't leave me hangin'!
Prayers for strength and healing so you can prove the doctors wrong.
Being able to pick when you slow down instead of your body telling you to slow down is a blessing. I'm sorry you might be forced into slowing down more than you want.
Part of why I want to be retired is there are other things I would like to do without having to take time off work - yard work at church on Wednesday mornings, join my retired sisters on walks during the day, volunteer to rock babies, find a way to help instill a love of reading with young people, actually get some projects done around my house. However, I do still enjoy my co-workers, clients, and most of what I do at work.
Alas, The Quarantine Adventures of T-Bone and Dad have stalled. The mail in covid test results were not posted by the company in time for my son to move into his dorm today. Uncertainty ensues. Trying to figure out what to do next.
Doesn't "retired" just mean that you are tired again?
If so, I'm already there!
(New title) The Move-In Saga of T-Bone and Dad: T-Bone gets a case manager. Goal - negative test results posted soon and a new move in appointment on Saturday afternoon. Keep your fingers crossed!
Sister Anne calls it re-wired instead of retired. Although Covid has cut into it, she has found many ways to volunteer. She always thought she would become a master gardener but became a master food volunteer instead. She really enjoys the Books and Bites program - ready and health snack preparation with pre-schoolers.
My wife is officially gallbladder-free.
Also - congratulations on a successful surgery! Is she staying in the hospital for a day or two to recover?
We are nearing 1500 pages of posts. Well from where I'm sitting we are nearing that number. I think the number of posts per page is not consistent across all viewers of this thread - correct?
For those of you who remember TillyGalore - you might want to have a look at this: https://because.massgeneral.org/fundraiser/2833778
I'm running a 5k in her honor.
Your marbles....keep up with them...seriously....
Event 15 - Collision https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ktIzZn_LDI0
That last event was just posted and I am very disappointed in the results (the team that wins the gold medal is my least favorite, I actively root against them, they are marbles.)
Another post closer to 30k. Season 2 of This Old House is long.
My yard desperately needs rain. As has been the case for the last few weeks, we have storms surrounding us about 5 miles out, but nothing here. Must be a force field over my neighborhood.
Spoke too soon. Just had a storm pop up over my house, and it’s almost stationary. I can hear my grass and plants cheering.
Hmmm, can we get to 30,000 tonight?
I signed up for "Vogue Knitting Live Online". It starts tomorrow. The package I bought includes the virtual marketplace, one lecture, and two classes.
The lecture is tomorrow at 12:30pm "Turbo Throwing: Super-Fast English Knitting".
Did you know there were two kinds of knitting - English and Continental?
They produce the same fabric, but they motions used by the knitter are what is different. In English knitting you hold the working yarn in your right hand and "throw" it over the needle to create a stitch. In Continental knitting you hold the working yarn in your left hand and "pick" the new stitch with your needle.
I'm fairly sure the next question on the tip of everyone's tongue is - which method do you use, BD?
Answer: Both. Of course. ;-) I get a much looser gauge when I knit Continental so, I do have to decide at the beginning of a project which method to use and do my test swatch accordingly. But, sometimes, when my gauge doesn't work out with the needles I've selected, instead of switching out the needle size, I'll just change from English to Continental (or vice versa). Some fiber types also lend themselves to one method. The coolest thing about knitting both ways is when you do colorwork with only 2 colors, you just hold one color in each hand and you don't have to do the twist when you change colors to prevent holes. (It's a knitting thing.) Fair Isle knitting never has more than 2 colors in one row, it's called stranded knitting and it goes so much faster when you can knit both ways.
The classes I'm taking would not have been by top choices but I signed up on the late side for this event so, I took what I could get.
Friday night from 7-9pm: Next Level Shawl Shaping
Saturday from 10am-noon: Lace Knitting for Novices
I really need to rethink my haircut regimen.
I thought going into the office every work day would have helped me keep track of the days. Sadly, that isn't the case.
The 8 "universal" virtues (supposedly common to all major religions and cultures) are:
Integrity (aka Honesty)
Generosity
Courage
Compassion
Wisdom
Justice
Responsibility
Self Control
All that you touch
You Change.
All that you Change
Changes you.
The only lasting truth
Is Change.
God
Is Change.

Compassionate toward yourself,

The Move-In Adventures of T-Bone and Dad: Covid Tests are Negative. They managed to find a rapid result place today and they both tested negative so T-Bone can move into his dorm as soon as he can reschedule a move-in appointment.

Would you consider working remotely in Barbados for a year (assuming the type of work you do is remote workplace friendly)?
More than Barbados though, I have a dream of living in Scotland for a year. (I'd settle for 6 months.) I have decided that once we are on the other side of this pandemic, I really should do something to make it happen.
