I shouldn't complain - I have a job. Always a good thing.

I thought 10k was already planned for... who has the link?
Paging DD or Lava... as the newly installed Kings, I therefore put it on your shoulders to take #10000 and post the link.
That is, if things haven't changed.
I made tacos for dinner tonight.
It's at least one of the kids' favorite dinner.
But not all. There is no meal that they all love.
There are however some meals that they will all tolerate. (Thank goodness!)
Oooo, I'm Vince Taylor. Have to savor that. I was going to post one more saying that tacos was one of the meals that they all tolerate. Ravioli is another.
I don't know about Grant making that pass.
All- BE CAREFUL NOW. We're approaching 10k and I think DD or Lavabe should have the honor. DD, are you ready?
Waiting... patiently... hungrily...

I changed my FB status in honor of 10k.
Thomas Hill holds his head in disbelief.
Thanks, guys!
Congratulations to devildeac & lavabe - two major accomplishments in one day.
And in honor of this auspicious occasion, I will turn off the copier and head for home and a glass of wine. Life is good.
Heating up my pasta now.
Trying to decide if Chloe has enough food for when I'm gone of if I need to make a run tonight. Ugh.
I've just been watching several versions of the shot on YouTube. My son Andrew prefers the ones with the Duke Basketball Network commentary, at least I think it's DBN. I think that's Bob Harris shouting SCCOOORRREEE!
And I'm Antonio Lang, falling to the floor.
Yeah, you Kentucky folk probably aren't used to all the ice. Me? Let's just say, I'm used to it.
Hope she's not hurt.
The trick is to take it slow, small steps, and hold on to something on the stairs, like a railing.
And be careful!
Oh, I finally figured out how to put up a picture of my cutie on the fund-raising website (http://www.firstgiving.com/lisaburdick). You don't have to donate to look at the picture.
Well I hope she's ok.
Animals always know when something's up. That's not to say they always care (they do most of the time but let's face it, they have agendas too). But puppy kisses cure most anything.
I had surgery one time and I was in my hospital room a few days later, lying in bed bored to tears and half-drugged out of my mind. Then they brought in the doggies. Animal therapy they called it. Definitely lifted my spirits!
Since this is on the OTB, off topic post here.
Is it just Bruce tomorrow, or is the E Street Band w/ him?
Lavabe, congrats on finally getting the big post in. Fortunately I was out and couldn't interfere with the assist! :)
It's been a fun day. I went out with a realtor for the first time today and saw some interesting condos. My favorite, by far, was the last place I looked at. The only question mark is the location (it's in Skinker-DeBaliviere, a block from The Loop, and about 2 blocks from the Delmar Loop Metrolink Station). It's an amazing rehab, though. I'll have to do a bit more research on crime statistics for the area.
I finally have all the documents I need to do my taxes. Here's my big dilemma: do I get TurboTax and do them myself, or do I take my stuff to a CPA? I typically go the TurboTax route, but I sold a house and moved this year. I don't know how complicated that will make things. Any advice greatly appreciated!
Oh, and major props to Lavabe and Devildeac. THAT was fun.
I'm a big kitchen person, and this one had all-new appliances, granite countertops, and a pantry. Oh, and a nearly new Whirlpool Cabrio washer and dryer. 2 bed, 2 bath, wood floors, dining room, and an eat-in kitchen. I could use the dining room as an office and have a real, honest-to-goodness spare bedroom. The only thing on my list it didn't have was covered parking. It has a space in a gated lot, though.
Skinky-D can be a bit dicey - at least, that's my impression. There have been problems on The Loop as well. However, driving down the street, there were LOTS of nice cars. Really, really nice cars. The condo is in one of the areas with Wash U buyer incentives, which probably helps.
Do you usually do your own return? If so, you probably can do them yourself. I believe the interview process on TurboTax will ask you the pertinent questions. You will have the sale of your home, which may or may not have a taxable gain (probably not). You will also have moving expenses and don't forget the fun of filing in two states. I don't know if the Turbo Tax for individuals will do the two states automatically or not. If any of these comments make you uncomfortable you might want to consider having someone else prepare them this time.
My fun for the evening was ice skating. A co-worker and I braved the pre-teen set at Steinberg (the outdoor rink in Forest Park). I only fell twice. :D I'm getting much better at falling. That may sound funny, but it's definitely an art. No bruised knees or messed-up shoulders this time.
Time to take a break for a nice cup of hot cocoa with Kahlua. Ymmm ... Kahlua. :)
In the bottom right corner, there are three icons - one that says "quote," one that has a quote and a +, and then a third for "quick reply." The middle one is for multi-post quoting. Click on the icon, and it turns orange, indicating it's on the list to be quoted. Then, at the bottom of a page, click the "reply" button, and all the posts will be in the editing pane. The quotes get inserted in the order that you click the "multi-quote" buttons.
Note - this really hurts one's PWing efforts.
I do most of my diving in the puget sound area, or San Juan islands just to the north. We've got several easy shore dives just within a half-hour of our house, so that's convenient. Today was a gear tune-up, as Mr. DA got some new stuff, and I've just not been wet for a couple months. Next week, we'll be diving a couple of wrecks (sunken boats). As for what I see, my dive buddy captures a lot of it here: http://www.joeschmoe.com/
Let's Go, Duke!
My goodness but y'all have been busy in the last couple of days. And wasn't dd going to be at the beach? I don't read for 36 hours or so, and you've put up what? 400 posts? I was in the mid 9600s and this is 10068. I hope y'all haven't said anything too important, because I doubt I'll take the time to read them
I think my most memorable was one of my very first dives, in Fiji on honeymoon, where I got to touch the tail of a leopard shark that was sleeping. That thing was over 6ft. long!
Another cool one was up in the small islands at the north end of Vancouver island, where the currents were can get very strong (up to 21 knots at full force.) We had to time the dive to the minute, and do the dive in a certain way, to go slow enough to see some very colorful and rare gooseneck barnacles. I kind of did it wrong, so my dive ended up lasting about 5 minutes, before I went shooting out of the protected area into the current (only about 4 knots). I knew the boat would pick me up when I finally surfaced, so I just floated on an underwater ride!
LOL! :D No, thank goodness.
It's now 12:09am PST. Time for me to go to bed so I can get rolling in the morning.
As I was thinking about it, I said I wouldn't be posting much this week, but then again, if the conference sucks, I may be testing out the capabilities of my iPhone. ;)
Congratulations to all for quite the historic achievement. A PW frenzy to be remembered, as well as the link provided in the record setting post.
10k! Congratulations!
I drop off the radar for a day and WOW, I'm 10 pages behind. You guys are prolific. :)
I'm at LAX now. Vegas here I come! (SLC is tomorrow.).
Posting from the iPhone slows me down but hey I'm posting. :)
I'm not sure about prolific, but we are persistent.
Yay to everyone for stepping up to the challenge to get to 10,000 yesterday. Special congrats to devildeac and Lavabe for 9900 - 10000. AWESOME!!!!
Sue71 and DukieinKansas, congrats on your special achievements. Sue, where did you find that pic of Daniel in a powder blue tux? Please tell me that was before he came to Duke.
ArkieDukie, smart move looking up crime statistics in the area of the condo you're interested in. I did the same thing which helped me feel better about buying my house.
Bostondevil, my mom makes the best tacos in the whole wide world. Well, to me she does. Every time I go home or she comes to visit me, she makes them for me. I love my mom, she's awesome.
DukePA and CathyCA, I've watched Under the Tuscan Sun a gazillion times, including one and a half last night. I love that movie!!! Perhaps I should read the books. Cathy, is the second book written a sequel to the first book?
DevilAlumna, isn't it kind of cold to be diving this time of year?
Oh, got lot's of packing done yesterday. :D Now have to clean today. :(
It is the Kitty Show at halftime of Puppy Bowl V. It almost makes me want to get a cat.
Congrats on making progress with the packing, Tilly! That is indeed a major undertaking. Here's hoping that cleaning is going well.
I looked up crime stats for the area of the condo of interest. Interestingly, the overall crime rate appears better than the area of CWE where I was looking! I always hear about problems in the area around Delmar Loop. I guess the numbers don't lie, unless I looked in the wrong place.
It's not a sequel. It's a fan letter to Tuscany, it's people, food, wine, gardens, architecture, culture, customs. The book has gorgeous pictures. I enjoyed reading it after I read Under The Tuscan Sun. It just gave me a more complete picture of Mayes' love for Tuscany.
Anyone watching Puppy Bowl 5?
Pretty quiet in here tonight - no one to draft with. Then again, the next milestone seems a LONG ways off...
I've done very little besides sit on my couch today - watched most of the Federer/Nadal match until noon; watched the tivo'd Duke game; showered, did a load of laundry; watched the Superbowl game; watched The Office, and am now on the last two sets of the Aussie Open.
I suppose I should do the dishes and take out the trash at some point. Stupid Sunday chores...
Well, go on crazy party girl - scoot off to bed! :D
I, on the other hand, got about 13 hours of sleep (cold water diving always makes me really tired) so I'm wired.
Time for bed. I'm getting up relatively early to drive to LA in the morning. Having lunch with JulesinLA in Marina del Rey! :D And then I'm going to the Craig Furguson (sp?) show taping later in the afternoon. That should be fun! I'll also see some of the other Hollywood tourist sites to see. Then it's down to business the rest of the week
I'm never going to drink again. :(
It's all in the sequencing. Knowing I was going to eat a lot of crap while I was supposed to be watching the Super Bowl last night instead of writing reports, I ate a whole box of dried prunes before I went to bed. While that was a good way to reduce the calorie load, it really screwed up my electrolytes and sucked all the moisture from my brain. I've fallen down twice today. Need some Gatorade badly.
The moral? Don't mix jalapeno poppers with Delmonte dried prunes. It sets off a vicious gastrointestinal event.
Too funny. I thought you were going to tell me the prunes flushed out all the calories.
Reminds me of a political joke that Stewart and Colbert did when they where hosting the Emmy's. Colbert sat there with a box of prunes and said he'd been eating prunes for 8 years and didn't want to change. :D
There are only (by my calculation) about 5000 calories in one Bacon Explosion. You can get about twenty 1/2" slices out of it. That's only 250 calories a slice. Wait a minute... for a second there I almost posted a thread that tried to convince you of the nutritional merits of the Bacon Explosion.
Not yet, for a few reasons. The biggest is that I need a minimum 10% down payment to get a loan. That's a real first for me - darn economy! (So much for being helped by a really good credit score.) Secondly, public transportation isn't the best in the area around the condo. It's very close to a dicey area, and there are lots of problems at the closest Metro Link (train) station. No bus stops close by, as best I can tell. The plan for now is to look for a while longer. The realtor told me that stuff really starts hitting the market within the next month or so, which means I have plenty of time. There are lots of condos on the market and more to come.
Better late than never, Congrats on the slam and the milestone!!!! Impressive and congrats to all the contributions to both ladies and men, great contribution! I'll be at the 15k and 20k barring unforeseen circumstances such as this milestone!!!!! You all are definitely overachievers! :-)
Taxes done! Woohoo!
One could find a good bbq sauce.
One could find a sugar-free bbq sauce.
Therein lies the problem, all three cannot coexist in the same bottle.
I will definitely stress the importance of the bbq sauce to this recipe. But in a pinch, I'm sure any sane, carb-fearing Atkinson would go crazy for this dish without the bbq sauce. I know I would.
The appearance of a whole Bacon Explosion is quite impressive and made my heart skip a beat. It may not be as bad for you as it appears though. If it's sliced 1/2" thick, you end up with less meat than you'd get with one of those giant breakfasts (3 eggs, 3 bacon, 3 sausage, hash browns, pancakes etc.). It's also very rich and I don't think I could stomach more than two servings at a time.
Me thinks pizza is worse for you.
1. It has more calories per serving.
2. I believe you're more likely to eat multiple servings of pizza than Bacon Explosion.
How about a Bacon Explosion Pizza?
Perhaps it all comes down to moderation.

Greetings from beautiful San Pedro, CA.!
I've had a great time, both in San Diego over the weekend and in LA yesterday, having lunch with JulesinLA, visiting Venice Beach, Rodeo Drive, and going to the taping of yesterday's Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.
More later. Meeting is starting again. :D
Due to a remarkable sequence of events involving darkness, sleepiness, socks, wooden stairs, and an excited 70 pound puppy, I fell down the stairs this morning. My pride was injured, along with my toe.
After visiting the doctor and the x-ray machine, the doctor tells me that my toe is broken. The fourth toe on my left foot has a clean fracture of the proximal phalanx. The bones are still in line, so they don’t do anything for it. He told me to just “buddy tape” toe 4 to toe 3. Then I use pain as my guide for resuming normal activities.
Poor Kayla! I won’t be able to run with her until the toe is healed.
Hey Fish, I broke 2 toes junior year. Long story, a sorority was involved, not one I belonged to but my toes were the ones that were broken. Anyway, the doctor told to take an old pair of tennis shoes and cut the top away from the toe area. That worked, I could wear them despite the swelling and the rubber soul came up enough to protect my toes from banging into anything else.
More snow yesterday and last night...it doesn't seem to want to end.

And this is a basketball board?;)
Thanks for the tip! I certainly have a lot of old running shoes. Today I'm wearing an old pair of work boots. They have a stiff sole and a lot of room in the toe box.
I'd love to hear the full story behind your broken toes. I suspect alcohol and debauchery were involved. :D
How long did it take your toes to heal enough so you could run again? I recall hearing about a football player who had a broken finger amputated so he could continue playing without waiting for the break to heal. Ronnie Lott maybe?
I'm not ready to amputate.
Hi all. I'm still alive. Utah is... Interesting.
Two words: Bacon Explosion
Shouldn't people be posting about now?
Y'all are going to regret not posting more!
(Really? No, not really.)
Snrub chat's not working tonight, and my meeting just ended and we're going out for dinner in 15 minutes. I was able to follow the game on the live stats link that was provided in the pregame/in game thread.
33-21. Not what I was hoping for out of us in the first half.
Thought for the night:
I could have been PW'ing instead.
