a new topic!
What phrase or common saying really irks you?
For me, it's when someone says: "It's always in the last place you look."
Of course it is! Why would you keep looking, once you found the missing item?
Discuss. :)
Umm... I was actually serious about the dog thing. The Samoyed you sat may have had a few personality issues. That doesn't typify the breed, does it?
Any suggestions for something similar to a Samoyed?
Woof,
Lavabe
Surely you can't be serious... and don't call me Shirley

It's very clear the intent of those posts was to make for a long thread, which is the stated purpose of this thread. They were clearly off the topic of that thread, they thus belong here.
PLEASE!! I BESEECH YOU NO!!!
That thread has become the Sunday School Thread, and needs to remain banished from the friendly confines of the OTB. It is only rivaled by the COLOR GREEN THREAD.
There is a common thread between those threads.;)
Having said that, I DID participate in the Tim Horton's discussion, but had intense heebeejeebies as the topic moved towards sectarian discussions.
Lavabe
I gave up on the Huckster thread...
It was getting redundant. And repetitive. And redundant. And repetitive.
(Blatantly lifted from one of my favorite shows ever, "Gilmore Girls.")
I could use a good Schlafly's Christmas Ale right now

You just posted on the Huckleberry Hound Board. Now they're quoting Scripture after your post.
Bring back the real DA!!!!

Talking about other threads
On that theme - I can't believe how much discussion there was on Green Shirts in Cameron and Banning Patrick Yates. I would never have thought either subject would promote so much discussion.
I like green - especially when it folds and spends. :D
What WAS the deal with the Yates thread?

What's the deal with the Yates thread? Guy gets banned, explanation given. WHY 5 pages on that?
Thanks DukieInKansas ... I thought it was just me with the Yates thread.

Lavabe
OOOOH ... going meta-alliteration

I could have done a Devildeac and posted in spread posts, but I'm in a generous mood this morning (and I'm at work!). heh heh heh
Wow, I think we have a new idiom: "done a Devildeac."
How about combining the alliteration idea and the metathread idea? If you look at the Huck thread, one could see plenty of evidence of "going Gary.";)

Have the mods considered posting a decorum sticky on the PPB in advance of the general election?
Compared to last year, I guess a lot of the previous Board rabblerousers have either switched names or moved on. I think you're right that it hasn't quite reached a toxic wasteland. Hmm... I think I know a little about those.
What % of the old Board'ers stuck through all the changes? How many did not?

at the risk of venturing into politics...
I saw the following headline a couple of minutes ago: "Romney Declared Victor in Maine." Like, oh my gosh; when did Maine, like, get the power to change Romney's first name from Mitt to Victor? Will "Victor Romney" be more electable than "Mitt Romney"?
my only sports accomplishment
Back when I taught at the undergrad level, I was on a faculty-staff women's intramural volleyball team that won the school's championship 3 or 4 years running. We had a ringer on our team - the volleyball coach was an AA in college. :)
Did someone say Scrabble?

Playing scrabble with an anthropologist over beer is much more interesting than playing racquetball with him.
Knowing all the common names of plants and primates is an unfair advantage.
My favorite ones being: sifaka and guenon.

imagine adding a chemist to the group...

Just PM'd you, Earl of Jammeth, devildeac, and Mom with some news that I just received after your post.
Would you mind repeating your query tomorrow? :D I am awaiting some word sometime in the next few days as well. If I don't get word, I'll be bummed.
Thoughts, wishes, etc... are GREATLY appreciated. This is HELL month for me.

P.S. ROCK ON, ArkieDukie!:D
Latest news: my travel schedule
Will be visiting folks in Kentucky and California in the next three weeks. Suddenly that 500lb gorilla is no longer on my shoulders. I feel much better. What this means:
1) Any good microbrews near Lexington/Richmond, KY?
2) Any good microbrews in LA?
3) Think I can stop off at Pinks while in LA?
4) Wilson will surpass me very quickly... unless of course, I meet up with Mom in LA.;)
5) Shout out to the new DBR posters from UK land!
Cheers,
Lavabe
