Friday afternoon we went to SGU Ranch for a tour and to learn about the equine therapy program. One of the people working there is from NC. She is smart enough to be a WolfPack fan. She will be starting vet school in the fall.
I hate Amish roosters.
I'm not sure why.
Standard Elizabethan fare: game meat or fish caught the prior season, cheese (tripe and bread for the peasants) a tankard of ale and an orange spiked with clove to mask the BO of your dinner guests. Really not bad for the era. English cuisine has gone steadily downhill since.
That was a big mid-day ice cream cone.
Watching Under the Banner of Heaven on Hulu. Read the book nearly 20 years ago when I was dirtbagging around southern Utah and drove right by some of the fundamentalist polygamist sects that still dot that Nevada/Utah/northern Arizona/southern Colorado area.
The U.S. is a big complicated place.
Did the shirts themselves look like they were from the 90s? I have 1, maybe 2, articles of clothing from the 90s so it could have just been sleepy moms or dads who were children of those times out doing their grocery duty.
Or were they rap battling in the condiment aisle?
Nobody wants to hear “There’s poop on there” from a toddler at 6:30 AM on a Monday.
I’ve been pre-approved to apply. I guess I need permission?
It is just a beautiful day for this time of year. Did a run and didn’t end up a soggy dripping mess like I normally do. Huzzah!
Have you watched this, yet? Too cool! Long lost epi. I probably would have been terrified as those witch scenes always scared the crap out of me in the Wizard of Oz.

My son did something like this (it wasn't formal therapy, but a camp where horseback riding was prominently featured that we chose partially for that reason), and he also loved it. The friendly horses were a big part of the success of the camp.
And this is admittedly a pet peeve of mine, but it should be "13-year-old with special needs", not the other way around. If you put the special needs part first, that becomes the emphasis, almost as if the person part is just coincidental. They are a person first, and should be treated as such, and the special needs part is just a description of one of their many features. The phrasing is a minor thing, but it actually can make a difference in how we think about people with disabilities. Offered FWIW.
And on to Tuesday.
PS no more restaurant desserts. Up all night...
Just too heavy? I have completely changed how I eat in the last 5 years or so. And I don't mean the no carb thing. I've changed the time I eat, the number of meals and how I snack. I did the no carb thing based on how I looked, but the other stuff was based on how I felt.
The older you get, the more you realize what foods and drink your body likes and doesn't like...then you have to decide what to do, if anything, about it.
Flan is the only Mexican dessert.
All y'all have been bought and paid for by Big Sugar, haven't you?
Sorry, the accusation must be made.
I've moved largely to the Costco filet mignons since they average about 10-12 ounces apiece and I can easily eat most or all of them. Some of the larger footprint steaks can weigh well over a pound which, I regret to say, can challenge me.
In any event I insist on thick steaks...
Ok, I want the Clemmonsdevil version of my back story, but I'm asking for it in the LTE instead of the weird thread. Pretty please, CD, pretty please.
fortune cookie (platitude cookies these day): be careful what you wish for.
My dog loves the pool so much it makes the hassle almost worthwhile.
I feel a little disappointed that my name here is so obviously interpreted. No mystery for me.
Yes, but when one is in London, or among artsy/theater types, the Royal Academy means the Royal Academy of Arts. If you're talking about the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, you refer to it as Rada, one word, although you do use all caps - RADA - when typing out the name.
There are also LADA and LAMDA, the L is for London.
That's not even touching RAM and RCM.
Common misconception but it’s actually “tickle down” economics.
Olympus?
That Rides?
So you are the big winner in all of this. Boulevard Tank 7 Saison is a Pantheon level beer for me. Me saying you are responsible for it is the highest praise imaginable. I literally had one last night in Los Angeles of all places while typing up your backstory.
OK, generalizing a bit because I realize not all men are attracted to women but let's do some comparisons:
Men: Ginger or Mary Ann? Women: The Professor or Gilligan?
Men: Betty or Veronica? Women: Archie or Reggie? (This one is kinda close.)
Men: Wilma or Betty? Women: Fred or Barney? (COME ON! Utter nonsense, no way Fred or Barney scores a woman as awesome as Wilma or Betty IRL.)
Or Rock Quarry

You should be able to order cookies like you order steaks. I definitely prefer my cookies medium rare.
I believe I've mentioned this 2001 Oscar winner before.

I don't eat cookies, but I bake them. The kids love them with just a hint of a crust starting, but still quite doughy. Hot dough with a smidge of crust like I think you are describing. I taught them this. Also the first song my daughter ever learned was "Lose" by DMX. And my son can make the "Bloods" gang sign because I taught him. I'm a good dad.
More contemporary - Ygritte the Wildling.
Starting the refilling of my pool today after the renovations (finally). Never again.
As my father always said, any job worth doing is worth paying someone else to do it.
As a side note, a little bit of unusual luck for me: I have two city water lines. One for the house, and one for landscaping and pool needs. Last month, the meter for the landscaping water line froze up and stopped registering water usage. Free water for filling the pool! It kinda makes up for Gwinnett county overcharging for about the last ten years. During a drought, they raised the water rates substantially to encourage water conservation. Take a wild guess as to whether they lowered the rates when the drought ended.
1. I worked construction to put myself through college and I worked in tobacco fields as a teen. I'm not averse to hard work. But the tool I enjoy using the most is a checkbook. I love and have a passion for not having to do stuff and paying other people to do them. My general thought process has been if mechanics won't intubate and care for their own babies then I won't change my own oil. We have a system.
2. I'm going with yes. It's yes, right? I'm correct aren't I?
I know my limitations when it comes to home projects, and they are considerable. Problem now is that competent workmen in various fields, especially carpenters, are in very short supply. We have a very good carpenter who we have to book 6-12 months in advance.
Activated glutes are pretty pleasant.
Jane Jetson and Penelope Pitstop over all of them.
Sigh. No love for Olive Oyl.

I would like to help in making this the longest thread. My thoughts right now: what should I eat for lunch? HAHA I had ground pork with some bell peppers and cheese for breakfast (some of you might not be familiar with it but I saw the recipe on Spanish blogsite).
13 hours
Today would be a bad day to take another run at the PPB, in case the mods were considering it.
Ok, it wasn't clear to me (perhaps it should have been) that it was *that* legal issue. I assumed it was of the genre "what can I do if my neighbor won't mow their lawn" or "what can I do if someone scrapes my car in the parking lot" or something. Guessing I missed the original topic, consider me thoroughly un-confused! ;)
Normally, in terms of my thought process, I am the Queen of Unintended Consequences. Today, I am the Empress. There are some spectacular unintended consequences raging in my mind, some of them I wouldn't mind seeing come to pass. Most of them are really, really bad though.
Vague on purpose - I know you know what I'm talking about but I'm just going to leave it there.

Thinking about it.
I know the answer to that: not many at all. A few years ago a good friend of mine made the attempt...he was in his mid fifties, is a world class designer of microprocessors, has plenty of money, but they turned him down. He thinks it was his age. They don't want their already burdened health care system to be further burdened by a bunch of incoming Yanks.
Stories about people lost in the wild often feature a scene when the protagonist stumbles onto a camp/set of footprints/food remnants, experiences brief relief only to realize it is his own --- and that he's just expended a lot of precious energy stumbling around lost in a circle.
bout right.
Hmmmm…
Saw the last half of the film Marathon Man last night. Film was definitely different back then.
We watched ‘Big Trouble in Little China’ last night. Boy, that’s a wacky one.
Oh, mountain life. We are borrowing neighbor goats to get rid of poison ivy.

going to a memorial service today for a guy I didn't really know...but his wife is a pal and she's serving food so why not?
Boarded in LA at 0450 this morning. Restaurants weren't open. Barely made my connection in Detroit. I haven't eaten all day AND Y'ALL KNOW HOW I GET WHEN I'M HUNGRY!!!!!! Basically just slightly more annoying than when I have eaten actually.
