Hope I don't get knocked back.

Also tots and pears for Dink everyone. We are going to dinner in KC next week. She needs your support.
Just got back from taking Pumpkin to a veterinary urgent care clinic. She injured her right eye - something they call eyepoke - which is not uncommon in guinea pigs.

You may be onto something.
But some people's Googlers are broke.

I haven't even gotten to pricing. Ticketmaster does dynamic pricing so I'm not abandoning my place.
God knows what they will be like for the regular sale. They also do their own scalping. The now charger 3x to another show I did get tickets for.
I miss going to the Record Bar in the mall and just getting tickets.
She now has 4 medications. One for pain, described as "Advil for guinea pigs", if there is real interest, I'll look up the drug name. The other three are eye drops of different kinds that have be given at least 5 minutes apart 4 times a day. The first drops are an antibiotic to prevent infection, the second eyedrops are a serum to reduce inflammation, and the third drops are a lubricant/artificial tears.
I do this now 4 times a day for the next 2 weeks.
I don't think I'll be able to stay awake...
Watching with my daughter in Tuscaloosa
Well, I saw the first half...
DVRed it, woke up and watched it at 7:30 this morning, much better than staying up half the night.
Stayed up. Was very pleased with the effort. I wouldn't say Duke played great, but definitely played hard. I've always felt that is all you can ask.
out to walk in the snow!
Frank case.
Ruh roh?
Booked a cabin for the family in the mountains for Thanksgiving week through VRBO and was wondering why I hadn't received check-in instructions (received confirmation through VRBO of the booking). Emailed the house owners and they were completely unaware of the booking. Sorting through things now. Somewhere something didn't transmit.
Apparently not Taylor Swift / Ticketmaster bad but...
Good morning!
I LOVE "Three Amigos!", but it being listed on Hulu as "For Western fans" is a stretch.
If you identify a UFO as such and it lands, is it just an O?
WooHoo!
In knitting lingo, a UFO is an unfinished object.
That's a weird one. The latest one was weird too. And I was a Kyrie apologist for a long time. At least the one you got with the dirty joke thing was defensible. Some people are offended by that stuff. And I say that as someone who offends people right to their faces pretty regularly.
Board is feisty lately.
I missed the game tonight. And I don't feel bad about it. I missed Vandy's game also, not an ounce of remorse. This is a new era for me.
I didn't even know there was a game tonight, so.
I haven't been flamed in a long time but when I did get flamed, it was over Deflategate. I got flamed for continuing to argue that whatever Tom Brady maybe have done it was not the most egregious action ever committed by a professional athlete. I stand by that belief even though I'm not much of a Brady fan. Baseline, I think all professional athletes are insulated, entitled douchebags. The Patriots are the hometown team around here and it's fun when they win Super Bowls, but I can't stand the NFL. One of the main reasons I can't stand the NFL is because they lose their minds over an equipment violation but will bend over backwards to put accused rapists on the field. That line of thinking gets a certain kind of DBR poster to flame me.
My last flame was for insulting UT-Knoxville. If you know, you know.
I haven't been flamed. And all of y'all are waaaaaay better people than I am. And correct more often.
I’ve never flamed a poster, IIRC. Rolled my eyes and quietly cursed at more than a few.
It took me a while to even realize that disliking something sent them a flame. It's not something I'm inclined to do, anyway, but I've gotten a follow-up e-mail from the flamee every single time I've done, so now I'll only flame someone if I'm prepared to have that follow-up conversation. I believe I'd done that once in the last year.
I peaked here when I was able to type "Right said, phredd" and it actually made sense to do so.
Meeting DinK for dinner and to watch Duke Monday!
I didn't get flamed in the pandemic thread, but I did get some PMs that were attempts to shut me up.
At this point, Vandy may be playing better football than Duke.
...that empty feeling in your stomach when you see the most recent mass shooting took place very close to where your sister lives...
I have not yet checked the news today. I don't know where your sister lives. I have, however, spoken to Paddies. T-Bone stayed with him last night and they are both flying home together today. Arrow and The Drewsk are already here, so I don't have to panic. I will now go check the news.
In the mountains.
Sigh...
More rain here...we need it. I would have enjoyed more in the spring and summer.
I was actually a pretty lousy cousin ... but it wasn't my fault. My folks grew up in WA/ID and moved cross-country after graduation, so I grew up way away from the whole brood of cousins, who I never really got to know.
I will echo Aimo's observation: the Shenendoah valley is indeed beautiful. I grew up in Waynesboro lamenting the small-town atmosphere, and I have spent the rest of my life wondering what the heck I was thinking then. I would love to move back there, but The Boss has other priorities.
I have a second cousin in that branch who grew up in different places b/c her dad was in the Air Force. She spent her high school years in Bridgewater and then went to James Madison in Harrisonburg. Actually, when she started, it was Madison College and all girls. Her ring says Madison but her diploma says JMU. Anyway, she then joined the Air Force and lived all over, finally retiring a few years back in San Antonio. Both of her parents died in the fall of 2014 in Bridgewater. She got the house, so she moved back, renovated the house, and is living the valley life now.
I'm guessing your second cousin was in Bridgewater within maybe a few years of the time I was at Waynesboro and the two high schools were both in the Valley District. I remember at least one football game, probably in 1970, that I traveled to Bridgewater to see. There were several smallish liberal arts oriented colleges within a short drive back then: Madison, Bridgewater, Mary Baldwin (in Staunton) ... all my faulty memory can dredge up at the moment. I was amazed when I was back there around 2010 at just how much JMU had grown.
Walla alert Aimo.
You know what I like to do? I like to find groups of people who experience religious oppression, racism, sexism and classism in a way that I can't possibly understand and then tell them how they should experience it. As someone who is slightly below average in every metric (except missed in-game dunks), I feel like it's my duty to weigh in.
*"weigh in" is a term that means giving my opinion.
**"opinion" means...
So, since Twitter is dying, maybe I'll spend more time back here? Does this place have a decent mobile app yet? :D
Happy Thanksgiving, all.
Hi DinK! We're good - kids are bigger - 11 & 9 now, eldest in middle school 😲. Not doing much Bball watching these days, Duke or anyone else. Did go see the USA Women's national ice hockey team vs. Canada yesterday, because they were in town and we hadn't seen the new Kraken arena yet.
Hope life's treating you well too!
DA in the house!!
I posted in the Elizabeth Holmes thread but I'll post it here too because I'm having a little trouble processing it. I know someone personally who is involved in a current financial scandal. It's upsetting.
Is it possible to block certain threads as opposed to just blocking certain posters? Asking for my mental health.
I'm ready for a few days off from work.
I am working from home today which gives me some freedom. Need to rake some leaves and do some more indoor cleaning and back porch sweeping. Tomorrow is cooking, baking, and cleaning. Will have either 11 or 15 on Thanksgiving, not sure, yet. If my brother and his family end up coming, that will be two big eaters added to the mix.
Serenity Now, Serenity Now!
I did a 4 hour lecture at a hospital in KC. I like the city. Haven't been here since the Final 4 in '88 when I was 14. I ate a ribeye the size of a dump truck tire last night. Meeting DinK later.
Internet access but no access to a functional Domain Name Server? I think that is what is going on.
Nov 25-27: Three men's basketball games, two women's basketball games, a women's NCAA soccer match, a men's NCAA soccer match, a football game. There go all the left overs.
Met DinK! Delightful person!
A little nervous we haven’t heard from DinK this morning.
It was great to meet ClemmonsDevil in person. Great guy. . Sorry I was late - didn't expect a 10 minute train delay on the way to Boulevard Brewing.
I also have met ClemmonsDevil in person. He was infinitely charming and friendly. He also did not disappear me and take my phone to use on DBR. In fact, the insinuation is ludicrous. He is above reproach in all ways and very attractive. If I were to loan someone money, it would be ClemmonsDevil.
And by collect, clearly I mean meet.
We definitely aren't all in jars of various sizes in the basement of ClemmonsDevil as he attempts to collect all of DBR.
This is completely unrelated to MtnDevil's post.

So, last year, my father gave CD some basketball tickets. I have since seen my father alive and well. At least, I think I have.
I know people have disparate views about Howard Stern due to his "shock jock" past, but if you're interested in seeing how he's become the best interviewer in the business (IMHO), I encourage you to watch this phenomenal HBO Special with Bruce Springsteen. The interview was aired live on SiriusXM, but the HBO Special includes the video.

Should I go to the grocery store?
11 PM tip off, yeah, I'm not going to make that.
As God as my witness...

I rewatch that every Thanksgiving, along with listening to Alice’s Restaurant.
Gobble, gobble!
Happy Thanksgiving to you all!
Turkey. GET in ma belly!
Also, that Twitter thread has become a proxy battle for political ideaology, methinks.
Happy Thanksgiving from Minnesota!
My new oven it working. Thanksgiving ruined.
But wait, I have a key to friends house because I sometimes water her plants and do other things around the house when she traveling. She's in Minnesota for Thanksgiving. I will be using her oven. Thanksgiving saved!
Happy Thanksgiving!
My cat Audrey after eating her Thanksgiving turkey 🦃 said, "Ninth best meat my I'm a real wanker for saying this.I'm a real wanker for saying this.I'm a real wanker for saying this.I'm a real wanker for saying this.I'm a real wanker for saying this.."
Not quite oven-level crisis but I just had to lend a potato masher to a friend down the street. I had 3 to choose from. She knew who to call.

Lol, anything you can boil water in and cover = rice cooker
The main one I actually use is a 33 year old Panasonic I got the summer I went to college.
I think so, given how inexpensive they are and how they are just one less thing to actively worry about. I usually do a protein, a veggie, and a starch for dinner so if I just set the rice and forget it then I only need to prep/cook the other two. And, they are small so they do not take much storage space.
