Man was that an awesome band, with Gene Krupa and Harry James. There was a clip there of the Benny Goodman quartet, with Gene Krupa, Lionel Hampton and Teddy Wilson, which was a huge step for racial integration, ten years before Jackie Robinson entered Major League Baseball.
Although my favorite version of that was in Benny Goodman's 1938 Carnegie Hall Concert with Harry James, Count Basie, Teddy Wilson, Gene Krupa, Lionel Hampton, Cootie Williams, and Bobby Hackett. No video, unfortunately.
With this recent spate of posts, I'm feeling kinda young.
