Yeah, this work thing really is a drag on my DBR posting -- but the upside is, I actually LIKE my work these days.

I will know better tomorrow, thanks for asking. I've been doing some quad weight training and stationary biking this week. I'm doing an easier run tomorrow to see how things are going. I've also been advised to run with a patella strap for a couple of weeks until I've had time to build up the quad strength. I'm shooting for 9 miles tomorrow with a 10th if things go well. I went to yoga today and asked what yoga positions are best for quads. My teacher (of 13 years!) said, 'Lisa, duh, the wave.' Duh, indeed. I should have remembered that one for myself.Quote:

I must be having knee sympathy pains, BD. Was speed-walking through my Costco last night (why is what I'm looking for always in the back corner?), and nearly pulled up lame as my right knee decided it didn't want to play nicely anymore. I'm hoping advil and some rest will help it calm back down to its usual near-gimpy self.
Walking backwards uphill is another easy way to strengthen quads and knees. My driveway is downhill out, so coming back from my runs I walk backwards up the driveway each time.Quote:

Growing up in the military I spent much of my younger years overseas (there is a point here, I promise). I went to a school that had a collection of books - in English - from different countries. Each book was from a specific country and was a collection of children's stories from that country. Has anyone heard of what I am referring too? I would love to get some of those books for some of the wee ones in my life.

So, what'd you think of the movie?
I heart George Clooney, but a movie about lawyers having a crisis of conscience just didn't seem like something... enjoyable to watch. Is it more than this? (I hope?)
Very good movie. It's a well done thriller and I like thrillers. Excellent performances by pretty much everyone and a scene from out of nowhere really where George's character talks to his son about life issues that's just heartwrenchingly lovely. The scene doesn't move the story along but I'm glad they left it in, it was too wonderful to cut. Here, I'll justify it, we get insight in Michael Clayton's special abilities at recognizing people's inherent traits. There, it does add to the story after all.
The last shot is a long close up of George's face as he rides in a taxi. It made me lead over to my girlfriend (it was a girls night out) and say, "He's just so effing sexy."
OK, so no imdb cheating, where do we all know Michael O'Keefe from?

Since you have Tivo, can you answer a question for me? Do you just hook up the TV box to your cable box or is there a service to buy? I noticed that a Tivo unit is going to be in a charity auction I'm going to and wondered if I should get it. Any info would be appreciated.Quote:

Hmm, I immediately thought The Big Chill but I'm pretty sure John Cleese isn't in that, then I thought A Fish Called Wanda but that seems too obvious with Kline and Cleese and I'm pretty sure Jeff Goldblum isn't in that.
