Lovely day for a lunchtime run.
Oh boy, here we go
My brackets are filled and submitted with care, in the hopes that easy money would soon be there.
Done: Duke, UCLA, Arizona and Auburn FF. Duke vs Arizona title game. Duke champs.
I don't think the late '80s/early '90s UNLV juggernaut (not dynasty, because that would require more than just the one title) gets quite enough credit for just how improbable it was. Not since Marquette in 1977 and Loyola in 1963 had there been a champion from truly outside the blueblood programs/conferences, and there hasn't been one since. UConn is I guess the closest, but when they were winning their titles, they were coming out of what was at least at the time a big-time league in the Big East.
Gonzaga would undoubtedly be the first real outsider since Vegas to win the title if they ever get their [crap] together and get over the hump by winning an actual big game (and any perceived snark in that comment is 100% intentional). I suppose one might make a case for Baylor, though they at least play in a well-regarded conference that has produced multiple other champions.
our four days as hostages in Florida courtesy of American Airlines (and 15 hours before I could reach a customer "service" rep) are over. Horrific experience, and they simply don't care. Glad they enjoyed the bailout money we all gave them. Grrrrrrr.
May they roll in the fecal matter of tarheels.
