To heil with it.
Oh lord, stuck in Lodi again.
Went to Lowe’s to get Halloween decorations and was greeted by Santa. WTF?!?!
Maybe I should have gone with jumpin'.

Parting is such sweet sorrow.
YOU try getting sleep with a new puppy.
Good morning! 15 hours later and still no puppy pics!
Always nice to see your employer in the headlines...
What sort of day am I having?
Glad you asked.
I worked 12 hours and my wife got rear ended about 15 times in a malfunctioning car wash.
I’m thinking about starting a Chris Elliott appreciation thread. Topical? No. Needed? Yes.
The man under the stairs was peak Chris Elliott.
What are we going to talk about at Thanksgiving? Mashed potatoes?
Canadian Thanksgiving is only 11 days away so better be seeking out a turkey, eh?
There's Maple Match. Love means never having to say you're sorry, unless you're Canadian I guess. :)
It's a good day to live on high ground.
Cocaine Bear
My mother has just been diagnosed with gall stones. She is minimizing the danger of it, and I am naive and dumb on these things. She says she is in pain, but it shouldn't be a big deal.
Can someone please inform me what the real issues might be, and what potential complications might be?
Sorry! Both my parents had them, and had them removed, back in the 70's. Before removal, both had extreme pain, and one was quite jaundiced. Recovery was fairly quick. There were some digestive irregularities for years after; periodic lomotil was needed.

Is anybody on here still in touch with EarlJam? I'm a FB friend and there is a disturbing post that got posted within the hour that he has passed away. That said, many are responding asking if it's a joke, including his brother - so - asking here in case anyone knows something.
Update: EJ's brother just posted this "I'm in NC but from what I know right now, post is inaccurate. Can't say a lot right now other than that." So - hopefully somebody's idea of a joke that's really not funny.
Speaking of sad news - my high school's homecoming queen from my brother's year (Class of '83) passed away this week. I think her family lived near yours as kids, aimo.
I had my gall bladder removed earlier this year, after two very intense episodes of abdominal pain. The first episode was mis-diagnosed, but after the second an ultrasound identified the gall bladder. After the surgery, the surgeon said mine was the worst he had ever seen and said I should have been in constant pain; I sorta think he might tell everyone that. He told me that, after about a month, I could resume my diet with no issue. I have followed that advice with one exception: I have significantly cut back on hi-fat foods (I was pretty bad about that before the complications). It's been 6 months now since surgery and I can say I am feeling no bad effects at all. Evidently, if you have to lose an organ, the gall bladder is not a bad one to lose. Now, that might be quite different for someone whose liver is not in good order.
Renaissance Festival Day!
Arizona, just for the heck of it. Home tonight!
Man, I just love a good renaissance festival! Such a fun space for people to let their freak out.
I met Bud!
Should have known better than to go into the game thread.
I guess.
That was a great game. It has everything. Defense kept us in the first half.
When we took the lead I felt optimistic. But man. What a way to lose.
Hope Leonard isn't done for the season.
We acquitted ourselves nicely. We deserved our ranking and Gameday. I hope we can win several more games this season and make this something special.
I need some sleep. Between flights to football and a puppy and I’m whupped
How was the game day experience?
It was a blast! Great to see the stadium packed. Saw Trajan Langdon, Carawell, my old friend Kevin Strickland and Budwom! Got to see iconic college football program Notre Dame pushed to the absolute brink. Duke looked like an honest to goodness top 25 college football team. I got to eat peanuts and drink a beer at Wallace Wade. I screamed at a Notre Dame fan to shut up (I attended with another ND fan, but this other guy who I didn't know was being obnoxious). Got to meet my college buddies for dinner and a couple of drinks before the game. Just an awesome experience to get to experience here. I have been to big time college football games in Tuscaloosa and Knoxville. It was cool to do it here.
Geez, where did the day go?
As the saying goes, "Often wrong, but never in doubt."
If anyone is still sleeping, get up!

I couldn’t take a picture but I saw a guy driving through the Lowe’s parking lot with a parrot on his window and poop on the side of the car underneath where the parrot’s tail feathers were hanging over the side.
great day, but man, getting up at 3:30 to catch my flight, sprints involved in making connections both days, 3 hours sleep after the game make for a weary budwom, end of self pity.
speaking of sprints, was that presumably a Duke woman track star who raced a kid at halftime giving him a 15 yard lead? She had a motor! The lad obviously did not heed Satchel Paige's advice, which probably hasn't been mentioned in 30 years, but you shouldn't look back, someone might be gaining on you...rookie mistake!
That girl could scoot. I was thinking about the age at which she would have beaten me in a foot race. I don't think she would have beaten me when I was 40 but she definitely beats me today. I had 4.5 to 4.6 speed in my younger days. I would be interested to know how much I have slowed down now. But I'm only intellectually curious and not pulling a hamstring because I'm stupid enough to test it out curious.
^ she did ease up on him for sure.,..but when he looked back at the beginning, he stumbled, not a heady play by him...
I would assume so since they brought the whole women's track team down shortly before that to recognize their ACC championship.
They came down the aisle in section 18 where I was sitting. It was quite a parade of young, fit, good looking women. I was wondering who they were and why they were going down there.
BTW - Met a lot of people Saturday also, but I'm terrible with names so I'm not sure I could give you a rundown.
I just like clearing brush.
Turning my stuff in tomorrow.
Buyer's remorse is striking. I didn't hate my job, the publicly announced intentions regarding RTO by the CEO forced my hand. Perhaps I acted too quickly, but I took him at his word.

For me, it was the many hours driving up to Austin that were unmanageable. 6 hours a day of driving. 3 days a week. And likely to go to 4 some time next year. Now if you asked me if I would move, yes I would. But not to Austin. I already had an assigned office, so that wasn't an option.
ClemmonsDevil just walked past my coffee shop while I was sitting in the window and he ghosted me.
Ouch.
Rich, famous or powerful?
I don't know. But definitely not famous.
I would hate being famous.
Now, if I were single and half my age I might feel differently.
You know. I think I'd take powerful. If you have power, the wealth isn't as important. And it's less complicated to use "power" to help other people than it is to use money.

Absolutely. Money can't buy you happiness and it can't buy you friends. But it can buy you a I'm a real wanker for saying this.I'm a real wanker for saying this.I'm a real wanker for saying this.I'm a real wanker for saying this. ton of food. And you buy enough food and have a nice enough vacation house the friends are going to show up. And my mom says I'm handsome and funny so I think I'll win people over once they show up.
PSA: Everyone's cell phones are going to alarm tomorrow around 2:20 pm. If anyone is planning the perfect crime it would seem like an ideal time.
On the gulf coast of Florida and under an air quality alert today b/c of smoke from Canada. Bizarre!
Why have we seen no puppy pics in this thread?
Just saying.
One of the highlights of the former employer were the doggo and gatto Slack channels. Dozens of pet pictures daily.
Here you go.

Yea, get to dance with Ticketmaster tomorrow  - Champions Classic presale starts. Not even 100% sure I can make it.
If you reached into the variety pack of chips and ended up with the Fritos, you in fact did lose.
For this and other vital life lessons, stay tuned to the LTE!
Last gasp of summer here.
I can not post in the fitness thread. That hip …er, I mean ship… has sailed.
Well, I didn't see this article yesterday. It alarmed despite me having them turned off. BS if you ask me. Doing crap like this just gives all the conspiracy theory people more fuel.

It is Fat Bear Week for those who celebrate.
You would figure we'd be at 40k by now.
86 degrees here yesterday, all time October high, average is around 65...80s again today, then rain and rain...not great for the foliage
Toasty here in Southern Appalachia too. But big change coming. This weekend we have highs in the upper 50s and lows the 30s.
Rain and low 80s here today.
We're having Indian summer here, getting into the 90s for a couple days. My winery owner friend tells me that if it cools right back down in few days like it's supposed to, he's going to be able to make some epic wines.
We have had the quintessential spring/summer and then the quintessential fall for Asheville other than the fact that it was dry. We're in a bit of a drought and about 8 inches down in rainfall. It rained all winter but there has been very little rainfall since the start of summer here. The river is way down and that's interesting to see. But summer was extraordinary with only about 3 days that were 90 or above, almost Perpetual sunshine and lows in the low 60s. The fall has been highs anywhere from 72 to 80 and lows from 48 to about 55 every morning. And it's been like this for about five or six weeks every single day. First cool stretch coming up with lows in the 30s and highs in the upper 50s to low 60. But my spring, summer and fall were the types of Seasons you dream of up here.
Okay, day 2 nearly done. Hmmm...what to do tomorrow?
My parents are in the same boat but they realize that’s it’s not great they are not traveling in their retirement, at times forgoing seeing their grandchildren, etc because of their cats’ medical conditions.
I understand and my dog will never go in a boarding facility again but we also have to and want to go places our dog can’t go. Gotta find a compromise.
It is Friday, I'm ...
Man, socks get complicated. I have a size 12 foot(both actually), which is a Tweener when it comes to buying socks.
The old traditional 7-11 size socks are just too small, but the next size up, 12-whatever, are like socks from Bob Lanier's sock drawer, flopping every which way.
Where do you guys buy your custom socks?
I've found a few that are OK at REI and LL Bean, but it's a battle, and foot happiness is very much important.
I envy guys like the former Prez who has a basic size seven foot, I really do.
