Crickets, I hear crickets.
Good Sunday morning...
I must be crazy...

I've redacted about 7 lbs in my latest attempt. I banned sweets at home...
Cool! Good for you Ymo.
Raining again today.
Has anyone here painted their own car?
When Mrs. Turk and I got married, her dad threw in a beige diesel VW Rabbit as part of the dowry. Several years later, a front fender got crunched in a fender bender on an icy road. I bought a fender from a wreck at a junkyard. The fender was light blue, so I sanded, primed, and spray-painted it with the closest color to beige / tan / ecru they had at Pep Boys. The paint job looked pretty good if you squinted at it from the other side of the parking lot just before dark. Otherwise, it looked worse than the hack job it was.
I have a 1970 Buick Skylark (Custom convertible) sitting in my garage that needs some TLC. I'm thinking of doing the work myself.
I need to replace a gas filter... anyone able to gauge if that's something I can futz with myself?
Holy moly...brings back memories of spray painting "the boyfriend's" old VW about a hundred years ago. But, I'm guessing you weren't asking about that sort of escapade. "The boyfriend" still reminisces that I shouldn't have made him get rid of that car when we got married.
He needs mental help.
Depends on the car. Last one I did, I had to get a tool to disconnect the filter from the fuel line, which was pretty cheap. The big challenge for most cars these days is how accessible the thing is. There will be a little bit of spillage so you'll need a plastic container of some sort or some rags. Check Youtube / google; it should be a much easier job than trying to paint a car.
P.S. " anyone able to gauge if that's something ..." (I see what you did there! lol)
"Fuel me once, shame on you; fuel me twice..."
I beg to differ. He might have been right, if it was a VW van. Millennials are gobbling them up and living out of them now; they're the latest rage. Even failing snobby East Coast media elites are noticing. http://www.newyorker.com/magazine/20...media-movement
P.S. What did you spray paint? Any interesting colors or designs? A big giant "9F" on the hood? Inquiring minds want to know!!
Although he had a van, oh yes, with curtains on the back windows, the red spray-paint was applied to his VW Bug. No idea which neighbor of his decided that car was good for "Mr. Fixit" to take care of. Likely the neighbor's wife decided that the nice young man down the street looked goofy enough to inherit the old Bug.
And as to old fads coming back strong at the whim of the Millennial Patrol...
Ladies, attention! Are you noticing the resurgence of high-heeled clogs?! I asked my daughter if she had kicked herself in the ankle with those beasts yet. GOOD LORD!!!!
Niece Elizabeth is driving from PA to Atlanta. She called me as they were leaving Durham. She had never seen the Duke campus so she and Max stopped for a quick look around. They did not go the few miles down the road to look at the unc campus.
To Pop Tart or not Pop Tart, that is the question.
Frequently, places like Autozone and Advance Auto have specialty tools that they lend out. You have to put down a deposit, but are credited when the tool is returned. Not sure if the tools for fuel filter replacement are available, but it wouldn't hurt to ask. (They will also offer advice on location of the fuel filter, and how to change. They are probably more helpful if you actually purchase the fuel filter from them.)
I ended up having brisket tacos, my Friday morning staple. I did purchase some strawberry frosted Pop Tarts for consumption over the holiday weekend.
Yes, that one is still on the table. Original factory color was if Fire Red and I will likely stick with it.
There was leftover cake sitting out when I got to the office. Nothing wrong with a piece of cake at 6am...right? Right???
I HATE the IRS.
Does anyone really actually eat Poptarts without toasting them first?
Put in a job application today.
Wish me luck.
You earned it, I just happened to be there when you went over the top.
Congrats, you will get the Eleven Sporkz Club paperwork in the mail. As Treasurer, just sent the initiation fee to me.
Yup, put it on about 2 1/2 hours ago. 14.4 pounds before trimming. Not sure if it will be lunch or dinner tomorrow. At 1 - 1.5 or so hours per pound, big variance.

Of course, given that you are in Texas, I gotta warn that BBQ pork butts are more comfortable for me. Brisket is less forgiving and still working on it. So, no promises.
Effort is always rewarded.
I had the Pop Tarts this morning. Yes, toasted or at least warmed up. My ban on sweets was in my home(yes, these broke that ban.) Like luburch, I found myself all to often with "leftover" cake, cookies, or candy in the home. And I would consume it at all hours of the day. Pre-breakfast, as breakfast, mid-day snack on weekends, and late night pre-bed hunger pangs satisfier. Ice cream in particular somehow always ended up in my freezer. Not sure how it got there, truly a mystery, but I'm not one to leave food to waste. (Well, maybe brussel sprouts, but luckily those haven't invaded my home in some time). So, avoiding those random late night predations and more consistent eating on weekends has aided my waist line. I still have a candy bar at work several times a week. What I am a bit bothered by is that my soda intake has gone up. I mainly drink diet sodas, so the artificial sweeteners appear to be part of my body's compensation for the missing sweets.
To complete the circle:

Oooh, you fancy.
I actually went to some of the minor events to peek in here and there once. Ate there (@ Rio), and it was interesting hearing people at other tables talking about the side games. Doyle Brunson was 2 tables away discussing some.
Besides, I can put down the time I spend meeting you as business development.
All kidding aside, I found that trying some of the flavored sparkling waters, unsweetened but in the sweeter flavors, say cherry, raspberry helped enormously. Takes a while, sure, but grab one of those when those afternoon pangs hit and it might fake your brain out.
I'll let you know, right now I have a hearing that may derail my plans. You know how that goes.
I found a mineral water I liked (Pellegrino) and drink the fool out of it. The carbonation satisfies my taste for something zippy.
Have not had a soda in four months, and I used to drink at least three diet Cokes a work day.
I'm never drinking again.
Oooh a hearing in my hood? What the heck do you have going on out here?
And as for sparkling water... no. I had cut out soda for several years, but now have it on occasion. Sparkling water doesn't do anything for me. If there's fizz, it needs to be soda or champs.

Not me . . . "

Are there people* who DON'T like bacon?
*Excepting vegetarians and those who don't eat pork for religious reasons.
Speaking of broken legs, Bostondevil will be spending the next 2-4 months in a boot (aircast, if you must). The injury appears to be marathon related. It's either a stress fracture or shin splints. The doctor made the mistake of telling her not to run anymore marathons. If he had said, sure, run as many more marathons as you like, just be careful about preventing this from happening again, Bostondevil would have probably told him, "I'm not that crazy." Telling Bostondevil not to do something? Bostondevil is that crazy. She's got this thing about attempting things she's been told she can't do - legal things that is. But we will see. Certainly not running again next year. Maybe 2020.
Bostondevil doesn't always do the third person thing but it seemed appropriate this time. ;-)
Oh BD!!! That's terrible! weezie understands that sometimes referring to a certain oneself in the third person usually means one would like to kick oneself in the derriere... but not too terribly often. Plus in your present condition, that would only be inviting more confusing self-references and odd injuries.
I'm sorry to hear about your injury! Girl, pay attention to your PT people! I hope it's not your right/driving foot.
Roy Williams is so upset about the NCAA investigation, he's begun to refer to himself in the fourth person. And most verbs in the past participle, whether applicable to the situation or not.
Forget about subject/object agreement, that's a distant memory by now.
I should probably have my foot checked out.
OPK morning;
1. Wake up groggy
2. Stumble downstairs, turn on computer
3. Spend ten minutes trying to figure out why every social media source is flooded with "covfefe" and what it means
4. Give up, go back to bed
The people running Merriam-Webster's twitter feed had the exact same reaction. The guy who bought the "covfefe" license plate will be regretting his choice and will replace it in six months max. The "humor graph" tweet is spot on, too.

^^ And I'm assuming that horse hockey would consist of riders on the horses with hockey sticks, given a horse's lack of opposable thumbs.
Horse soccer would make sense -- I've seen clips of elephant soccer after all -- but doing it on ice would seem to be an unnecessarily complicating feature of the game.
These time periods between seasons do get long don't they?
Now that we know more about next year's schedule, should we redo our minutes calculations?
Today is VBS Day Three. Who knew spending the morning with no rain 0 kids would be so tiring.
No vacation for me.
I, for one, am thankful it's Friday.
Happy Donut Day LTE!
Fresh tomatoes, green peppers, hot peppers, and herbs from the garden.
Fresh eggs from a friend with chickens.
Ymmm, omelettes.
I love Saturday mornings.
"OPK's B&B," has a nice ring to it.
I'd like a room with a view of the garden and wondered if there is an afternoon wine and cheese welcome?
Attachment 7473
A mass of greenies on one plant, should have taken the picture before pulling the ripe ones.
I regret my decision not to grow tomatoes this year.
Local market has fresh cooked crawfish, iced down. Gonna be a heck of a day.
1. Are you here now?
2. I was at Binion's last night. My dad was playing in a charity poker tournament (he didn't win). He's going back tonight (another game tonight) but I'll be at a friend's party instead. If you're in town, the tourney benefits Heaven Can Wait animal rescue. $10k (IIRC) for the winner. Or $10k prize money. Something about $10k, but it's definitely not the buy in ;) Starts around 6pm.
I made crack* this morning to bring to my friend's party.
* Crack
No, if I can shake my hearing it will be the first week of July more or less. Not looking promising right now, which stinks.
Only played in Binion's once, when I stayed at the Nugget for a few days.
$10,000 probably the guaranteed prize pool, to be split among several folks. The more folks who play, the higher the prize pool may go.
Good luck to Dad!
Taking a mini-vacation to Salem, Mass next weekend. Gonna do the Witch Museum, the New England Pirate Museum, maybe the Peabody Essex Museum and hit up a new yarn store in downtown Salem.
Thunderstorms here this evening. Hopefully we will get rain also.
Ahhhh, Mondays!
Like my sig says, I'm probably being petty in another thread.
My hubby was out of town when the tickets went on sale, so, I have already purchased my own birthday present - I am going to see 'An Inconceivable Evening with Cary Elwes' on my birthday - screening of The Princess Bride, Q&A session, and I got a VIP ticket which includes a meet and greet afterwards!
Check out my friend's 2017 My Rode Reel Competition short film submission. I make a couple of very brief cameos again this year (the film is only 3 minutes).

Talented guy he is, eh? He has been a finalist each year he has participated.
Also, be sure and check out the behind the scenes afterwards...it is VERY cool.

My new mantra, "Be grateful" I am forcibly stopping myself from bellyaching. The world needs less weezie-tude.
But I shall still refer to myself in third person.
I miss the PPB board some days more than others.
I am currently reading it.
I saw the movie when it first came out in the theater with a guy who told me that he hated it. I didn't break up with him on the spot, but I knew our days were numbered. I met my husband two weeks later. That sealed the deal. I could never have married someone who hated The Princess Bride. My sons all love it too.
Early morning blues
Heading to the beach for a few days. Ready for a break.
A few bars here in Asheville are opening a couple of hours early for Comey testimony. Who doesn't love a beautiful summer day, spent sipping foamy beverages while watching hours of salacious Congressional testimony? Too bad I will be at work.
Leave for a 17 day trip in Europe this afternoon :)
One hour layover in Chicago has me a little worried. No delays coming out of Indy would be fantastic.
Wishing you safe travels and a wonderful trip.
I'm a bit jealous. Driving to Minneapolis for 4 days, including the 2 travel days just doesn't seem as exciting. Hopefully, the dance recital will be fun - with at least one little one doing something totally unexpected to make us all giggle.
Boa viagem!
I do on occasion post non-sequiturs.
Does being early to post also contribute to being healthy, wealthy, and wise?
Disk full error on server didn't hit the LTE! Woo hoo!
Uuuuugh, so hot and humid here.
So, grilled andouille sausages and light beers it is.
I've noticed that much of my sense of humor comes from watching Get Smart, Rocky & Bullwinkle, and Monty Python in my misguided youth.
Not proud of it. Just noticing.
Trying to convince myself it is a dry heat here in the Ess Ehhh.
Good to know I haven't lost my touch.
Anyone else have a problem where Luke Maye's car accident continues to show up as a "new post?"
Once you've caught up with all the "new" threads you want to read, from the thread view:
click "Forum Tools" (upper right just above the top thread and below page numbers)
from the drop-down, select "Mark this forum read".
That should reset the New flag.

As I get older, it showing up as a new post is not a problem if I wait about 30 minutes. It IS a new post all over again.
But then, I would be totally capable of hiding Easter eggs from myself. I accidentally hide things from myself frequently . . . like my glasses, car keys, my house, and unfortunately my grandchildren.
p.s. If anyone sees a 3 year old girl with pony tails wearing a pink dress, please call my daughter. I will provide my daughter's name and phone number when I find my address book.
Yep, still got it.
The calendar says it is Friday.
Fun fact: "Friday" in German is " Freitag," which I am told literally translates to "free day"
So, be frei all tag.
Ich kann ein bisschen Deutsch verstehen.
I was able to work a Jimi Hendrix lyric in to post yesterday.
Lila Dunst ist in meinen Augen. . . Entschuldige mich, während ich den Himmel küsse!!!!
Und die Gabelstangen für dich!
(darn, told I must spread love first . . . . )
Should I self report? Or just hope no one finds out, do a mock internal investigation, then when I realize the problem is larger than I expected have a real investigation done? Only to impugn the integrity of the real investigation at a later date when it appears I may actually get in trouble. Or should I just wait for the two Leona Maguire threads to be combined?
Tomorrow will be the longest day of the year.
It certainly was for me as I used every bit of the waning light to finish up a flagstone patio.
Good for you Ymo! Nothing sexier than a guy who gets his "to do" list done.
After years of planning, and despite a total lack of demand, I have decided to take OPK public and to franchise OPK. Future OPKs to offer the four pillars of any successful enterprise: barbecue, brisket, bourbon and beer. OPKs have ample space to stretch out and relax, with an eclectic selection of music in the background. All OPKs come with an ample dose of corny humor; an ambitious yet humble foreign policy; and a domestic policy with a penchant for informed discourse and abiding consideration for the enlightened self-interest of the community.
But mainly, bourbon.
I am currently scouting locations for franchises, and franchise opportunities are available. IPO to launch though GoFundMe page, with par value for a share being about the cost of a fast food meal.
Details to follow.
I need to see a detailed market study. Fast food lunches aren't as inexpensive as they used to be.
So, can Duke basketball fervor be subbed for the bourbon? I'm down with the beer, brisket, etc, but I'm not up to the entry standards in bourbon drinking.
As mentioned previously and frequently, I make collards that might cause a person to punch themselves in the head, they're so good. I can put that on my application resume.
To be expected that as soon as the announcement is made, the quibblers would start chirping, right?
