I was also thinking of getting a stuffed "Beaker" doll, and do something similar.

any one planning on taking a dinner break?:o
Don't be bummed. He said the (gross warning) mucus needs to be loosened so you can expel it, and for that it needs to be, well, moist. That won't happen if you're dehydrated or dried out from other medications or the illness itself. (Dried out does not equal mucus free.)
I missed the game today because I had to pick my dad up at the airport. Can someone quickly and concisely (ie without rambling or changing topic- HA!) give me an overview of what happened? I went to the EK Board and was not able to accomplish this... other than G had a great game and Nolan had too many turnovers and Z should've played more. ;):p:o:rolleyes:
Now rthomas has voted for Lance. I wonder if they are related?
It is 79-1-1 for Gerald.
Painfully physical and turnover prone game in the first half(19-14). We got into the flow of it in the second half.
AD did a much better job than I...
Did I miss something, or did the commentators forget to wax poetic about Beaker in this game?
Doesn't look like 9,000 is a reality this weekend.
And it appears everyone is taking a nap. I know I did.
It's not exactly a tearjerker, you're laughing, you're laughing, you're laughing, then whammo, you're not.
I almost forgot to watch the Duke game today! I saw the last 5 minutes when we couldn't buy a free throw. Not the greatest Duke team from the line but among the top rebounding crews I've ever seen wearing real blue, perhaps it's a trade-off. Sorry to go all EK on y'all.
I thought Jay did a nice job. Loved the comments about Coack K's hair. Just hope he doesn't morph into Dickie V. Ever listen to a Vitale game from the '80s on ESPN Classic? He used to talk about the game that was going on in front of him. When did that change?
I probably could have made that into 2 or 3 posts. Sorry about that chief.
Get Smart wasted Steve Carrell. Is that his fault? Does he need to get better a picking scripts now that he's a star?
Will Ferrell should go back to second banana roles. I'd rather watch him do his Old School schtick that suffer through another Blades of Glory.
I have yet to see Semi-Pro although I will eventually. I've heard the best thing about that movie is the Old Spice commercials.
I really wanted to get my 15 year old an Old Spice gift set for Christmas, just for the camp value but I couldn't find one. I guess they don't make them anymore. Perhaps not a big seller. Sigh.
I'm still curious about the grapefruit man.
And speaking of characters, I, too, am intrigued by BD's description of Heartbreak Hill. Any chance you'll post a copy somewhere for reading?
I think, to help Lavabe train Georgia in appropriate, well-directed "approved destructive behavior," we should all chip in for one of these:
http://www.johnnytshirt.com/carolina...?sku=6261LARGE
(I feel rather dirty about having had to go looking for the item; I think I may have picked up a computer virus or something. Time to go clean out my cookies and run a malware scan... :D)
Hmm, the embedded image didn't work - trying to attach here:
Attachment 596
Doesn't that look like something that Georgia should really tear into? :D
Pardon me while I BARF
To make up for the image above:

BD - congratulations on a successful night. Is video available anywhere?
I finally left the office at 7:10pm and came home to watch the game. There was some major posting while I was watching the game.
Ok night night time. Headache. :(
I hope that all the headaches, migraines, and colds that have been mentioned in the last 24 hours are much better in the morning.
Time for bed. Sleep tight everyone. Don't let the bed bugs bite. If they do, squeeze them tight and save them for tomorrow night. I never understood the last part.
eta - I'm Mike Dunleavy so no more posts tonight. I'll add the rest of the sleep tight bit above instead of in the planned multiple posts.
Just out of curiosity: how does one email the lads at ESPN? The discussion about the idiot, both on this forum and on the EK Forum, is preaching to the choir.
Now if the idiot had actually used one of Carlin's words you cannot say, then YES, I believe ESPN would have done something immediately. As it is right now, I think the best that can happen is a good ol' fashioned shaming of FSU. That is, of course, if the coach and/or president of the university don't do something first.
Unfortunately, I think that Joe the Fan is probably yucking it up with his friends, feeling some praise for his actions.
Long and short of it: we won. Next play. Next game.;)
Cheers,
Lavabe
Get Smart: A decent, but wasted tribute to the great TV show. I liked the cameo from Siegfried (Bernie Koppel). Although the photo of Hathaway's 99 before the plastic surgery WAS Feldon, I wish they would have had a cameo from Feldon. There were a couple of moments when I closed my eyes, and Hathaway NAILED the voice of Feldon. I do like the casting selections for Starker, 99, 86, Larabie, Chief, and of course, BILL MURRAY. The script, however, was subpar. Some of the outtakes would have worked better.
Oh yeah ... Spilkus Nudnik!:D
Several points:
1) Moments I'd rather forget: There was a moment when Jay tried impersonating Dickie V.
2) Dickie V changed in the '80s.
3) Rebounding: You missed the first 7 minutes of the game, when we didn't box out one of their bigs, who in two possessions or so had something like 5 or 6 offensive rebounds.
Cheers,
Lavabe
Given the Cardinals over the Panthers and the Ravens over the Titans should one go with the Eagles over the Giants?
And 434.
Probably. Take the Chargers too while you're at it. Chargers - Cardinals in the Super Bowl. WooHoo! Anybody root for those teams around here?
Cardinals! How did that happen? The Falcons winning 11 games, that I get, but the Cardinals in the NFC Championship game?
172-1-1...relatives shouldn't be able to vote
Go Giants!
Well, the winged creature pick would have worked this weekend. I fear an Eagles-Ravens Super Bowl might be in the offing. Yuck!
<300 for Lavabe...
I'm watching the Wake/Tar Heel game right now. I put "9F 9F 9F" on my Facebook page as my status report. One of my lesser informed friends replied with "Missing Sunny California?"
Honestly, must we educate the whole world?
I am now watching John Heder's solo dance scene from Napoleon Dynamite.
Too funny.
Vote for Pedro!
The TV show "Housewives of Atlanta."
I don't understand that show. AWFUL!
I read the first few posts in the Top 10 Albums of 2008 thread and felt very, very old.
At least I saw the Evil Empire vanquished yet again, unfortunately by the DD's and not us. But, we'll get our chance later this month.
Yesterday was quite interesting here on the LTE as we had quite a MBB discussion:eek:. I hope some of you/us at least ventured over to the EK forum for a while and read the Jay Bilas 2009 thread. There was a lot of complaining about Jay until the man himself showed up and dropped 3 posts on the gang discussing his thoughts/beliefs/principles. Pretty cool stuff.
You were kissing Robert Parrish?
Lavabe <3 00
Kissing/Love and the most famous 00 for me was Robert Parrish. Plus, I do live in Celtic land now.
Yes, pretty cool.
That was a nice pairing by ESPN. Patrick and Bilas worked well as a pair. I hope, however, he avoids future impersonations of Dickie V.
Still wish they'd have done something to the MoronOTM.
And for what it's worth, Carolina can still go to Hell!:D
I'm off (the boards, that is) for the rest of the night and probably Monday, too. I had to take a 2 hour nap this afternoon as I was so exhausted from work and wildly PWing on Friday and Saturday:o.
Can't wait to look at the ACC standings in the paper tomorrow! ;)
Oh look, I just dunked on Mourning! Henderson rules!
Does Duke always have either a Marty or a Henderson or often both?
Marty: Nessley (the Puma) (84-87), Clark (91-94), Pocius (2006-09)
Henderson: David (83-86), Phil (87-90), Gerald (2007-09)
SO: BD's hypothesis is correct from 1983-1994, and 2006-2009.
That means, however, there was a gap between 1995 and 2005.
Clearly, Coach K is getting back to glory days with this recruiting strategy.;)
NOTE: In the 50's there were: Marty Doherty and Marty Joyce.
Sadly, we've NEVER had a player whose last name began with an I. Likewise, the last-named Q's are also unrespresented.
After BD's hypothesis, I suddenly have the urge to play DUKE SCRABBLE. All words have to relate to Duke/Duke Basketball/etc...
I've already put it on the ticket exchange board, but on the off chance that you guys don't read that board. . .
I need an extra ticket for the UVa game on 2/1. My mom wants to take my 11 year old son to the game, and we need a ticket for him. He's the little guy to the left of me in my avatar.
Slow afternoon around here.
280 more posts to 9000. I'm sort of surprised we didn't get there last night.
I had trouble sleeping this weekend but attributed it to work related issues...
How old is your daughter? Be prepared to have a talk with her after she reads the last one. I don't know if you read my posts on that series before but I find the last one irresponsible storytelling in a novel aimed at young adults which in book speak means 14 year olds.
Hi all. What's new?
Will you be reading it as well? Just curious. I haven't gotten into them, but a couple "girlfriends" at work have torn through the series and recommend. I don't know of any straight guys who've read them. (then again, I don't hang around much with a teenage crowd either...)
Even if you'll be leaving behind your 80&sunny weather? ;) :D

She's leaving, on a jet plane, don't know when she'll be back again....
Was going to summarize the entire thread but could only make it about 50 pages (just over 1000 posts). Besides, I started worrying about going over the word limit. It's pretty amusing to try summarizing this thread in short phrases. Amazingly, the topics roughly lend themselves to this format. The last 4 lines are random extended topics that stuck with me from later in the thread. Here's to the LTE and all its posters!

AD, that's great! Color me impressed!
Wow, billybreen has been locked away for a long time!
Great post.
Happy 1000th!
Wow Arkie ... I mean POTY!!
And I vaguely recall the Maasai discussion.
I better try again to go to sleep. I have 3 back-to-back classes TuTh starting at 8AM, and they're predicting a messy winter weather advisory for "rush" hour. Luckily, I have almost a two hour break before my 4th class.
All I have to do is start humming that Billy Joel tune.
Cheers,
Lavabe
AD - POTM! Nice! Now I'm going to have that song stuck in my head...
Woot, this post comes courtesy of Windows7 and IE8.
Install and transfer of settings was the easiest install I've ever done.
Thanks! The original draft had mention of lemurs in it, but then I decided to be chronological in the spirit of the song. I couldn't make it all the way to the lemur discussion. In case no one has noticed, this is, like, the longest thread ever! :D
Good luck with the travel to work and the back-to-back classes. I was usually lucky to be able to talk in complete sentences after stretches like that. The worst: I once taught gen chem lab all morning, followed by an afternoon organic chemistry lab!
Believe it or not, there were several posts on the "EarlJam is a doodyhead" topic. The whole discussion was started by DevilAlumna, who had a theory that a bit of name-calling would keep the thread going for a while. No other name calling ensued, but the doodyhead discussion went for a few posts.
WTG ArkieDukie, impressive. Like Lavabe, I'll be singing BJ's "We Didn't Start the Fire."
Lavabe, hope you make it in to work safely and that you're classes are fun, easy, and fly by quickly.
Last Monday, I turned in a notice to my apartment complex that I will not be renewing my lease. This morning, I received an email from them practically begging me to renew at a discounted rate. :D:D:D
P.S. Not renewing as I am going to buy that house. :D
OMG! This guy should be drawn, quartered, and shot.
Cash Beer Meat
Say it ain't so...
