I would have loved to have seen Alice in Chains while I was in school. Looks like they played Walnut Creek in '92 and '93.
I was asked for a work presentation, what dream did I have that I still wanted to make come true. I put down playing guitar.
I'd write them like Bob* and sing them like Van:

*That would be Nobel laureate Bob.
Post number 18,000.
I think I'll grab it.
And on to 18,001. As some may have mentioned, pets have no respect for daylight savings time...
The Snake Lady asked me to give all of you Ft. Gordoners her best regards.
Jeez, you folks were up late/early last PM/this AM  !
Daughter-in-law admitted to the Ohio Bar last evening. Rather proud mother and father-in-law in Raleigh yesterday.
Next up: younger daughter Match Day in March, 2017 and graduation in May. Then, off the devildeacs' payroll July 1. Oh, Happy Days. :o :)
MCG?
Hmm, so now you have to get nostalgic about "that institution that granted my degree"?
So - best concert you ever attended?
Just to rub it in, OPK, that Stop Making Sense tour concert is still tops for me.
I don't go to many concerts.
Best-Renaissance-Walnut Street Theatre, July, 1976, IIRC.
Close second-ELO-Valley Forge Music Fair, some summer during college
What if the best concert I went to had very little to do with the music?
Your invite is standing.
1. The Who and the Clash, 1982.
2. Stones, a few times.
3. Pink Floyd in the Dean Dome, 1987 or 88.
4. Col. Bruce Hampton & ARU, with Phish opening, NYE at the Variety Playhouse in ATL.
5. One of a dozen Dead shows, which one depends on the Zen of the moment when asked.
6. Michael Hedges and Leo Kottke, somewhere over on the CH campus some time in the mid-'80's.
7. Clapton in Cameron, Behind the Sun tour.
8. Jorma. Every time.
Right now, I want to vomit. It's 7:59pm EST, November 8th, 2016.
The Who played at my sister's high school - as the opening act for The Buckinghams. (1967) Tickets were $3. :D
Enjoying a quiet evening at home after my car club meeting.
I cast my vote many hours ago. I cannot impact this election any further, so I'm ignoring it until the final tally is in.
Given the agita I am detecting, maybe that other thread will pass this one.
Got home from work about 45 minutes ago.
Have done today's plank for the 30 days of planksgiving.
Have opened a nice Cabernet from Napa Valley.
I'm trying to ignore the election results. It drives me nuts that they will "call" a state with less than 50% of the vote in - and sometimes less than 10%.
I'm watching last night's episode of Dancing with the Stars.
I have decided to go to bed and find out the worst in the morning.
Hey, what's new?
A lot of posting tonight.
Wow... turns our there are things even more upsetting than the possibilty of the LTE slipping into second place.
While surprised I am not shocked by what happened. I got caught up in the echo chamber (as one person phrased it) of that thread. My car club had a brief discussion of the election with near unanimous thoughts on two things, it was a mess and that they couldn't vote for Hillary. It was at that point where I began to realize Trump might actually have a shot at this. I live in Bexar(Bear) County Texas which is about 50% Latino and after brief flirtations with Republicans largely ousted them in favor of Democrats. But my car club is fairly representative of the car clubs I used to hang out with in Ohio and the more general population there. And it is the Midwest where the election really turned.
Just as long as there are no discussions of lock boxes?
On my computer it's got that red lock symbol and the bottom says "Closed Thread".
Now it's open again.
People were misbehaving last night.
Just last night?
Well, no, but badly enough to get the thread locked.
So, functioning rather well on 2 hours of sleep.
I got about 4. As is usual in my household, my cats demanded to be fed around 5 AM. As usual, I acceded to their request.
Warming up for Thursday? Unfortunately, I have a social function to attend that evening.
I'd take a nap but I still can't sleep.
Yes. Ours is a "social" function, too. We'll be watching the cheaters travel on the:

Do we play THEM in football this week? Haven't been paying attention.
I'm kinda done with football in general, but I still want to beat THEM!
Family birthday party on Thursday. Not sure how much of the game I will get to see.
Two hours of sleep here, followed by early morning staff meeting (that stupid me called).
Going to probably self-medicate tonight to un-zombify.
I pay a couple hundred dollars a year to be part of a group. We usually have a speaker every couple of months, but the big shindig is tomorrow night. I have to eat about 20 lbs of jumbo tiger shrimp to break even on my investment.
I have rehearsal tomorrow night. But it's only from 7 - 8:30. Hope to see the second half!
Cats are evil. (Ever notice how "evil" and "vile" are anagrams? Cats...)
Trade 'em in for a happy-go-lucky dog that likes to sleep in!

Is this where we go for hugs? Asking for a friend.
Consider yourself hugged. Attachment 6847
A new Escape Room just opened up down the road. Did one of these in Orlando about a year ago with WifePK and BoyPK and had a blast. Anyone here done these before?
Never heard of it. What is it?
Someone might want to consider throwing the flag at that other thread. Starting to get a little chippy.
It is a lot of fun, worth googling to see if one is close. Basically, there are various scenarios. You get locked in a room with your group, and you have a set time for your group to figure out clues to open locks and puzzles to move through the scenario before the time runs out. It is usually groups of 8 or 10 or so, but they will combine you with another group if you have a smaller number.
We did one where we were in the White House, and terrorists had taken over. We had an hour to get through to a fourth room to disarm a nuclear bomb or something like that. Group problem solving. We physically started in a room that looked like a hall in a building; through various clues were able to open combonarion locks or find physical keys to get into a map room; then were able to do the same to get into a third room before running out of time.
Found this YouTube video of a NYC TV morning crew doing one, gives you a flavor:
https://youtu.be/qE3GHpz0494
Some days earlier than others.
Could not help to just call down there and see how booked they are. Only did it once and did it out of town so not an expert. The place I went had four different set-ups, so they started in 15 minute intervals. Note that they may also have various scenarios going -- some more scary than others (ours was not) -- so check their website. This is the place we went, to give you an idea: http://americasescapegame.com -- the escape from 1600 link shows the scenario we did.
Let me know if you do it, curious about your experience. It will be something different. We really had a fun time, went there with no real understanding or expectation (really just killing time). If we can all shake the autumn crud going around the family, we're there at the new local joint.
They really need to shut down that other thread. Election's over. Time to move on.
Google shows a few in Boston, close to the Commons IIRC:

The second one has alone called the "Drunk Tank":

I found a couple listed for San Antonio.
I often ignore auto correct. When reading what other's write, I have to imagine a Qwerty keyboard in my mind to see if they just mistyped or if they misspelled. And like the hanging chads of 2000, some times it is hard to tell. And then there are words like some times.
One of my coworkers did it here in Asheville recently and had a blast. He also got a groupon, so check that for sure.
I do prefer when it is light out earlier in the morning.
I spread a few comments around - anybody need a spork?
Apparently I haven't been spreading my sporks around enough. Thought I had!!
The last three people I tried to Spork I couldn't :(
I said this before, but it bears repeating: May the Spork be with you!
I'm not allowed to give out anymore sporks for 24 hours!
Yes, but which one to use?
Friday afternoon is the longest afternoon of the week.
Except when it's Thursday afternoon, and you momentarily thought it was Friday. Then you get a double barrel blast of long afternoons.
Best I can tell, the remedy for all of these things is to haul two huge and heavy porcelain tubs up a hill, sit in one with your significant other in the next one, and then yell in pain because your back went out until the sweet relief of unconsciousness finally brings you under.
So, my company doesn't give us Veteran's Day off. Memorial Day either. Seems a little odd, but it is a good day for them to call us and handle things that they can't get done during the regular week.
I just now turned on the game. I haven't seen a score yet, but I did see an ad for one of those medicines. Is that some sort of sign?
I just now got home from rehearsal.
Woot! Duke intercepts late!!!!
Well, that was lots of fun.
Definitely a great way to shake off the depression of this week.
Sitting with the hubby watching the game and they cut to a bunch of sad Carolina fans.
He says, "You know, that color they have to wear? It really sucks. I mean look at that. They are stuck with that color and it's awful."
Tried a new recipe for tonight's birthday cake. It was a hit so it will be used again.
Didn't get to watch the game but Brother Bob texted me when it was over. Home now and will go watch the last part of the game.
Ummm, should we be making rabbit analogies?
I think the official name was golden velvet cake. Basically a white cake but the secret ingredient was melted white chocolate. The cookbook had two similar recipes - one called for 6 egg yolks and the other called for 4.5 egg whites. I went with the first so I didn't have to wrap my head around the 1/2 of an egg white.
I need to get off the internet. Been in a depressed funk for a few days. I just signed up to run the Forge Pond 5k in Hanover, Mass tomorrow.
If one calls for just egg whites and one calls for just egg yolks, why not just use eggs?
Let me know when you are heading this way and I'll try 3 cakes - egg whites only, egg yokes only, whole* eggs only.
And I'll make you gravy.
* Eggshells will not be included.
So - brown eggs or white eggs?
I used to buy the white ones, now I buy the brown ones. There are more brown ones to be found, usually.
Call Publix and order a cake.
Did someone say Marion Barry?
NO! Mary Berry.

Don't those people over there know that the election is over?
Shut it down! Shut it down! ;)
Shut it down, shut it down!!!!
Lock it up!
Lock it up!
1st Amendment!
1st Amendment!
Just saw the national champion banner that Villanova has in their arena. It made me smile!
I may have already shared this but, since it is the LTE, I'll share again.
I don't recommend trying to plank in socks. I was 30 seconds in and my feet started sliding. Had to start the 50seconds over - after I took off the socks.
I may have already shared this but, since it is the LTE, I'll share again.
I don't recommend trying to plank.
I may have already shared this but, since it is the LTE, I'll share again.
I don't recommend doing cartwheels after the age of 50 without properly warming up.
Plank heaven!
Maybe they should redact
all of it.
Re: Cake
My birthday is Sunday. Need my address?
Re: Birthday
I got myself a new toy: an iPhone 7 Plus. It wasn't meant to be a birthday present but timing and all... I ordered it through work about 6 weeks ago and it came yesterday. Today it's all set up and working. Now I just need to get Apple Care for it. (Case and screen protector already taken care of.)
I'm a pie guy, not a caker. Apple pie especially.
Just throwing that out there for those looking for a Festivus gift for me.
I haven't been fishing much lately.
I think Nephew Sam gave it the nickname when he was much younger.
Hoping no staples in that pie.
I think with the last post of that other thread, they should note the gap between it and the LTE. Maybe we could manage to get it to an interesting number like the number Coach K wins at Duke the time.
While gazing at the Sport's Center ticker during Game Day this am, I noticed that bumper pool is actually a college sport including recruit rankings? And to think my children made me pitch our old table years ago. Just think of the missed opportunities...
I don't know anywhere to go fishing near Durham. Sorry. I'll try to ask.
I have a pool table, but have yet to use it in 6 years of ownership. It seemed like a good idea at the time.
