I managed to get sick so made it through 3 days of training, now I'm doing exactly what I do at home: sitting on a Teams call. Just in a friggin' Hampton Inn in Baton Rouge now. Blah.
Ha, funny you should say that because I visited Pat's and Geno's on several occasions and did not find them to be all that great...I liked Jim's on South Street quite a bit...and several basic shops near my West Philly crappy apartment.
That's the thing with a good cheesesteak: the roll is critical (which is why the cheesesteak on the menu in most of the country just doesn't cut it)...as long as you have an Amoroso roll, you're off to a good start.
The ones I got in my neighborhood were terrific...and quickly acquired a taste for Whiz which surprised me...somehow it works. Never tried Swiss though!
I would avoid Pats and Genos past a certain hour...it can get very rowdy.
