She swung a club or two for Duke but didn't stay a whole year. From Jan. 10, 2009:
Quote:
DURHAM, N.C. Duke University head women's golf coach Dan Brooks announced on Saturday that freshman Mina Harigae has left the program to focus on her aspirations of turning professional in 2009.
“Mina is an exceptional golfer and we wish her all the best in her future,” said Brooks. ”If she works hard, she should have a very bright career in professional golf.”
Harigae, a native of Monterey, Calif., appeared in three tournaments during the fall for Duke as she notched a 71.13 stroke average, two top five and three top 20 finishes. A member of the 2008 U.S. Curtis Cup team, Harigae won the 2007 Women's Amateur Public Links (WAPL) Championship and played in the 2007 U.S. Women's Open in Pinehurst, N.C. She was also a three-time first team Rolex Junior All-America, three-time member of the Canon Cup West Team and two-time winner on the AJGA.
Updated scoring :
Boutier is +1 thru 4 today and +3 total
Lang. +3. 8. +5
Belac. +1. 2. +6
Yu Liu. +2. 10. +7
Cutline is now looking like +4
Mina Harigae made the cut at +2, but the other four MC’d.
Kevin Streelman and Adam Long are playing at The American Express in La Quinta, CA this week.
https://www.pgatour.com/leaderboard.html
Streelman is -2 through five holes and Long is -2 through seven holes.
This week’s stop on the PGA Tour is the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines. Kevin Streelman tees of #10 (North) at 13:30 Eastern time.
Kevin shot -4 today with no bogeys and, as of now, is T-21. The North Course had lower scores, as usual -- but Streels is in the top 20 percent of those playing the course. Leaders are at -8.
By the way, one of the few PGA tour locations I have played. Remember best the signs that said, "WARNING: Don't go into the rough -- RATTLESNAKES!"
Go Duke!
Streelman tees off #1 at 12:20 Eastern. He plays the South course in RD 2.
Something to keep track of all season long... FedEx Cup standings: https://www.pgatour.com/fedexcup/off...standings.html
Adam Long is currently #29 and Kevin Streelman is #67. Both guys came tantalizingly close to making the top 30 last year and playing in the very lucrative Tour Championship event. I am sure that is their goal this season.
Kevin Streelman shot +3 today and makes the cut at -1. He will play golf this weekend.
I’ve never actually seen a rattlesnake at Torrey Pines or any of the other local courses, but we did see one at nearby Torrey Pines State Park. I think the signs are a bit of CYA, but definitely something to be aware of before trying to find that ball.
Snakes or no snakes, I lose a lot of golf balls on that course.
Many, many years ago I saw a t-shirt that read, “It takes a lot of balls to golf like I do.” I regret to this day not buying it on the spot.
And Torrey Pines isn’t alone. From the Phoenician in Scottsdale:
Attachment 12408
Streelman tees off #10 at 11:20 Eastern. Rounds 3 and 4 everyone plays South Course.
It’s one thing to have a sign, it’s another to mean it. This is from Twin Warriors, a course I play often, outside of Albuquerque.
Attachment 12411
This guy was about 4 and a half feet and as thick as a coke can. I worked at the sister course down the road when it opened 25 years ago. Those two course have a lot of snakes but this is the biggest rattler I have seen.
By the way, that’s on the tee box.
Streelman shot +1 yesterday and is Even for the tournament tied for 45th. He tees off #10 at 11:20 Eastern today.
A question for our avid golf fans. Has Pebble Beach been damaged due to the brutal storm that dumped heavy snow/rain in Northern California? One section of scenic PCH was washed away. Reno/Tahoe had snow measured in feet - not inches. Haven't seen/heard anything about the golf course. AT&T tourney is next week.
This article says the three courses used for the tournament came through the storm relatively unscathed:
https://www.golfdigest.com/story/sto...-atandt-pro-am
Sidebar: If I didn’t know any better, I’d list Patrick Reed as “Tar Heels on the 2021 PGA Tour.”
Streelman finishes the back nine strong with birdies on 16, 17 and 18. Now he needs to keep the streak going on the front nine.
Waste Management Phoenix Open in Scottsdale AZ commences today. Tee times:
Kevin Streelman, 10:40 Eastern #1
Adam Long, 14:20 Eastern, #10
Streelman is at -2 thru 14. Interesting that Streels is averaging 317yds off the tee. Leaders are at -8. Adam Long just getting ready to start.
Streelman shot a -3 (68) today with five birdies and two bogeys. He is currently T11 but the afternoon golfers are just getting started.
A solid RD 1.
Friday Tee Times:
Adam Long, 10:00 Eastern #1
Kevin Streelman, 15:00 Eastern #10
Adam Long is even thru 6 today. +1 for the tournament. Cut appears to be -1. Streelman is at -3 and doesnt tee off until 1pm
Streelman shot -4 (67) today and is -7 for the tournament. He is currently T16.
Adam Long did not make the cut.
Streelman tees off #1 at 11:49 Eastern for Round 3.
Meanwhile Dustin leads after three rounds at the Saudi International. Others still playing after the cut are Finau, Garcia, DeChambeau, Fleetwood, Reed, Mickelson, among others, including our Julian Suri who is at T36 with solid rounds of 69,67,70.
Maybe a couple years ago but he has been pretty mediocre lately. He is currently 456th in the world rankings. This year, he has played in 2 European Tour events and missed the cut both times. Last year he played in 16 European Tour events and missed 8 cuts and failed to record even a single top 10 finish.
Suri has had a tough time after physical setbacks set him back...
Streelman shot -2 (69) today and is T23. He missed multiple birdie putts in the 5 - 7 feet range.
Kevin Streelman had a decent round at -2 69 and slipped a bit in the standings. He missed three putts of six feet or less; moreover, the majority of the putts made were less than two feet, including many of eight inches or less. Good putting, but the ball just didn't fall.
Streelman tees off #1 at 12:05 Eastern today. Hopefully, his putts will find the hole.
Streelman shot -2 (69) today and is T19 with golfers still on the course. He had a very strong -4 (31) front nine before shooting +2 (38) on the back nine when he struggled to find the fairway off the tee.
First look at Peddle Beach, Kevin, Adam, Ryan Blaum, and Wes Roach are in the field. Nice!
Pebble Beach Thursday tee times:
Ryan Blaum, 12:47, Spyglass Hill #10
Kevin Streelman, 12:58, Spyglass Hill #10
Adam Long, 13:20, Spyglass Hill #10
Wes Roach, 13:42, Spyglass Hill #10
All times Eastern.
Streelman's out of luck. He and Larry Fitzgerald have won the tournament twice, but the Pro-Am is canceled for this year. Go get 'em Streels -- win this thing this year -- you were second in the pro event in 2020.
Tournament limited to Pebble and Spyglass this year because of the smaller field.
Are any of the former Duke golfers invited to The Masters this April ?
It's typical Duke golf thing. The catch-all category is "Top 50" in the world under the OWGR. Streelman is #59, and Adam Long is #62. In other words, just outside the Top 50 and hoping for a couple of good tournaments before April -- maybe a win.
There may be other criteria that apply, but I'm not sure. Adam's last win was two years ago (Desert Classic), but that may not apply.
If you are outside of the top 50 and not a pretty recent winner on tour (or at least come close in a major), you probably ain't playing at Augusta.

First-round results are (almost) in for the Duke players in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Streelman is at -3 T-32; Wes Roach is at -2 through 17; Adam Long finished at even par, T-75. Ryan Blaum at +2 is down the leader board. All played Spyglass Hill, which was the tougher course today. Tomorrow they move to Pebble.
Go Duke!
Friday tee times:
Ryan Blaum, 11:30 #1
Kevin Streelman, 11:41 #1
Adam Long, 12:03 #1
Wes Roach, 12:25 #1
All times Eastern at Pebble Beach Golf Links.
Kevin Streelman shot Even par (72) today and remains -3 for the tournament. Wes Roach shot -1 (71) and is -2 overall. Both will be playing the weekend.
Adam Long and Ryan Blaum will miss the cut.
Saturday tee times:
Kevin Streelman, 11:14 #10
Wes Roach, 12:09, #10
Eastern time.
Wind is going to be a factor today at Pebble Beach:
https://weather.com/weather/hourbyho...951d7c5f0b191e
Forecast calls for conditions to worsen in the afternoon so morning golfers could have an opportunity to gain ground on the leaderboard.
Streelman shoots -4 on the back nine (his first nine) with birdies on 13, 14, 15 and 18. He is currently T15 at -7. On to the front nine...
Streelman shoots -5 (67) today to improve to -8 for the tournament. A bogey free round for Streelman. He is currently T13.
Sunday tee times:
Kevin Streelman, 12:56 #1
Wes Roach, 12:45 #10
Streelman (-8) is five shots behind leader Jordan Spieth (-13) and three shots behind five golfers tied for second at -11.
Streelman has moved up to T3 at -13. He is -5 today through 11 holes.
Streelman is 1 shot behind at Pebble Beach. He's 5 under thru 11.
The CBS telecast is finally showing Streelman.
How about eagling #10 from 145 yds. out
Streelman followed up his eagle on 10 with this birdie on 11:
https://www.pgatour.com/video/2021/0...ble-beach.html
Streels just messed up his approach at 16, though. Will be lucky to escape with a par...
Ends up with a double bogey.
Hopefully Streels can birdie 1 of the last 2 holes and have a top 10 finish.
Streels pars 17. Needs to birdie 18. That would give him a solid finish and momentum into next week at Los Angeles
Not Duke related, but Lashley's four-putt at 16 was interesting. His attitude about it was, shall we say, not very good.
I was at the US Open at Pebble in 1992. Watched Fuzzy 4-putt the fourth green. No yelling, no club-throwing, no slamming the putterhead into the green. What he did instead was hit a perfect tee shot on 5 and make a birdie.
Somebody approached him asking for his autograph between the 5th green and the 6th tee. He said, 'are you sure your nephew still wants my autograph after the way I putted on 4?'as he was signing.
One Saturday night I was going to the old Palomino Country and Western nightclub and as I was coming through the parking lot I heard this fellow talking to his buddy and I thought, I know that voice. Then it hit me, that's Fuzzy Zoeller. He was in town for the Greensboro PGA tournament. At that time you had to be a member or be signed in by a member. So, I signed Fuzzy and his party in. After we got in, he bought me a drink and set up drinks for the early crowd that was at the bar. Fuzzy was already one of my favorite golfers and after that night, he became number one on my list.
This week’s stop on the PGA Tour is The Genesis Invitational at beautiful Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, CA. Thursday tee times (Eastern):
Kevin Streelman, 09:51 #10
Adam Long, 10:46 #10
Adam Long with a solid -2 in opening round of Genesis in LA. Streels sits at +1. Leaders at -5.
Friday tee times (Eastern):
Kevin Streelman, 14:21 #1
Adam Long, 15:16 #1
Long is in solid shape at -2 but Streelman at +1 has ground to make up in order to play the weekend. I’m expecting the cut line to be at -1.
And a little self fulfilling. I read an article a while back (have to go try to find it) about how the older “journeyman pro” is being driven from the game. Because the tour is effectively year round now, if older players who aren’t in the ultra elite category want to take time off to be with their families, they have a hard time keeping up with the younger guys who play every week and accumulate status for entry into the bigger events. And if a player can’t get into the bigger events it snowballs away from them limiting their ability to continue playing at all. Play or perish - Darwinian indeed.
Kevin Streelman shot -5 (66) today and is T15 with golfers still on the course. He had six birdies and one bogey. Streelman will be playing the weekend.
Adam Long shot a 76 and missed the cut. Streel's is tied for 14th.
Today’s tee time (Eastern):
Kevin Streelman, 12:10 #1
In Korn-Ferry action in Florida both Max Greysersman (Duke'17) and Wes Roach ('11) made the cut. Max is T-15 and Wes is T-27.
Weather delay ongoing at the Genesis Invitational due to high winds.
Play has resumed at the Genesis Invitational after a long delay. Streelman is +1 through five holes falling back to T20 (-3).
Looked like only 11 of 67 players under par. Streels was at +2 for the day, but about to make birdie and will be T-15,. about where he started.
When I lived in Pacific Palisades back a few decades, when the wind would come up (Santa Ana or whatever), the leaves and branches from the eucalyptus trees would cover the top of my swimming pool and clog the skimmer. (This was NOT a fancy house.)
is it more windy in Pacific Palisades than elsewhere in SoCal? I played today at Palos Verdes and it was windy but the ball was not blown off the wind or anything? Was surprised that they delayed play at Rivera.
I thought every house in Pacific Palisades with a swimming pool was "fancy."
Thanks
I dunno about the Palisades vs. other areas -- but the Venturi effect (or is it the Bernoulli Principle?) affects the winds coming over the Santa Monica Mountains -- and it can be very breezy.
Kindly,
Sage
'I visited my old house a year ago -- last trip before the COVID -- and there was a chain-link fence in front of the carport, enabling the tenant to have an art or sculpture studio there. That may give you some idea. The one advantage of the pool was that my older daughter learned to swim before she was 12 months old'
Streelman shot +4 (75) today and is Even overall. He is currently T31 and in need of a strong Sunday performance.
Sunday tee times are not yet posted as Round 3 was suspended due to darkness. Looking at the leaderboard, there are 23 golfers who must finish their Saturday round before Round 4 can commence.

The PGA Tour stop is the World Golf Championships Workday Championship at the Concession in Bradenton FL.
Our lads have a week of enforced idleness. Apparently Adam at #64 and Kevin Streelman at #57 in the Official World Golf Rankings are not high enough to qualify. Odd -- the field has 65 players. Seems like it takes top 50 in the OWGR to qualify with the rest being "Top players from member tours' money lists or orders of merit (from last complete season)."
Ryan Blaum and Wes Roach are playing in the Puerto Rico Open this week. Ryan has completed his round at 70 for T14 this a.m.
Correction: Blaum with a 69 opener, not 70...
Thank You to all of the contributors on this thread. I hope all of you enjoy the game as much as I do. See you at the 19th hole !
Leona Maguire and Yu Liu tied for 16th at -6 at the Gainbridge LPGA event in Orlando. This is Leona's 2nd best finish on the LPGA tour -- she is still listed as a rookie.
Looks like only Adam Long will play in this week's PGA, The Arnold Palmer. The Korn Ferry Tour kicks up again on March 18 in Louisiana.
Sounds like Adam finished strong. I checked earlier this afternoon and he was +1 through 11 holes.
EDIT: https://www.pgatour.com/video/2021/0...ld-palmer.html
Yep, nice round for Adam, T-15 and only four strokes behind Rory, the leader. Goes off early tomorrow, 7:44 am.
Adam Long will not be playing the weekend. He shot +9 (81) today.
Looks like Adam will try to bounce back at Sawgrass next week. Kevin is also in the Players field after skipping the Arnold Palmer winding up today.
In the LPGA stop in Ocala, FL Leona Maguire and Yu Liu are at -4, tied for 6th. Others making the cut include Lindy Duncan and Mina Harigae.
Worth mentioning that Leona Maguire finished tied for 6th place at -5, with birdies on her final 2 holes.
This represents her second top ten finish on the LPGA tour (she even got a mention near the end of the broadcast). Kudos.
Yu Liu was tied for 19th at -2.
Lindy Duncan tied for 34th at +1.
Mina Hariague tied for 70th at + 12.
BTW, second place was Jennifer Kupcho at -10. A familiar name. She was on Wake Forest a couple of years ago (2019) battling when Duke won their last National Championship. She won a championship with WF in 2018. Nice credit for the ACC.

I watched a few minutes of this tournament, and for a moment I thought I was watching the women’s event at Augusta National. The 11th and 12th holes at Golden Ocala are replicas of 12 and 13 from Augusta, right down to the azaleas. I have since learned that the course has replicas of many famous holes (16th from Augusta, 1st and 17th from St Andrew’s, etc). Not normally the type of course you see professional events held on but somewhat interesting.
The Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass starts tomorrow. Tee times:
Adam Long, 08:24 #10
Kevin Streelman, 12:38 #1
Adam shot a 70 this morning (-2) and is among the leaders (Sergio Garcia is -7 but he is 3 strokes a head of everyone else, at this point); course is playing hard today; Kevin Streelman is -2 after 5 holes, so let's hope he keeps up his good play (course is playing harder and faster in the afternoon).
Not the best start for Kevin, Adam witrh a solid opening round. I'm pulling for both to play well tomorrow at Sawgrass.
Today’s tee times:
Kevin Streelman, 07:18 #10
Adam Long, 13:44 #1
One of the Women's Team stars, Jaravee Boonchant is making her debut in Augusta. She was in Bangkok last fall because of the Pandemic.https://goduke.com/news/2021/3/12/wo...itational.aspx
Adam Long cards a 2 over today to make the cut on the line at even par. He is also third in the Adam standings (only one behind Scott and Hadwin).
Streelman misses out on the weekend.
Meanwhile in the Qatar Masters Julian Suri shot 70 and 68 to finish T15 and making the cut when darkness stopped play...
Round 3 is underway at The Players Championship. Adam Long is -1 through 3 holes with a birdie on Par 5 #2.
So Suri played so well in the opening rds. in Qatar he shot 84 today. Wonder what was up with that?
Adam Long is -4 today through 14 holes and has moved up 35 positions to a tie for 15th.
Adam Long tees off at 12:25 today. He enters Round 4 tied for 16th place at -5.
So Suri shoots 84 yesterday and 67 today. Go figure....
Uo and down round for our man Adam Long. One-over after eight holes, he birdied three of the next four. Then, on the short par-three 13th, he dumped his tee shot in the water. But, he made birdie on his second ball and only lost one shot on the hole. He is T-20 heading into the last five holes.
So Kevin and Adam will play this week in the Honda, Wes Roach and Max Greyserman in the resuming Korn-Ferry event in Louisiana, and Julian Suri in the European Tour in Kenya...
Today’s Honda Classic tee times:
Adam Long, 07:58 #1
Kevin Streelman, 13:04 #10
Streelman with eagle on 18 (his 9th hole):
https://www.pgatour.com/video/2021/0...-at-honda.html
Adam shot 68 for T-13 and Kevin scored 69 for T-24 at the Honda. In the Korn-Ferry, Wes Roach would like to forget his 78 today, but our other Duke grad player Max Greyserman (D'17) led for a bit before ending at T-3 with a 67, and finally our guy in the European Tour Julian Suri scored well with a 66 for T-9. On to tomorrow....
A tidbit. Chase Koepka, Brooks' brother, is playing in the Honda and finished -1. He's a Duke fan. Like Brooks, his granddad is Dick Groat.
Just checked and Max finished T-1 when all finished.
Streelman shot -3 (67) today to improve to -4 for the tournament. He is currently T9 with the afternoon golfers just getting started. Streelman made 7 birdies but also had two bogeys and a double.
Kevin Streelman tees off #1 at 12:35 today. He is T16 at -4.
Except for Kevin it was not a good day for our guys. Adam was cut from the Honda and Wes Roach from the Korn-Ferry event. Max Greyserman survived but is T-47. And, Suri missed the cut in the European.
Streelman struggled today shooting +3 (73). He is currently T34 at -1. He had a bad stretch early going bogey, bogey, double bogey, bogey on holes 4 through 7.
Streelman tees off #1 at 10:35 today. He needs a strong finish to move up the leaderboard and earn more $$ and FedEx Cup points.
Streelman shot +2 (72) today so he was +5 for the weekend. Not the performance he needed to build Fedex Cup points.
Lots of action coming this week. Kevin and Adam will compete in the WGC match play event in Austin and Ryan Blaum, Wes Roach, and Alex Smalley (D'19) will play in the DR at the Corales Puntacana Resort. The Korn Ferry has Max Greyserman and the European has Suri.
Tough matchups for our lads at the World Golf Championship - Dell Technologies Match Play Championships in Austin TX. But for now, Kevin Streelman is two-up after five holes over young Viktor Hovland. Adam Long tees off shortly against Dustin Johnson.
Go Duke!
Streelman plays Abraham Ancer tomorrow. Tee time is 11:53.
Adam(#61)made a strong challenge to DJ(#1) only to lose 2 Up. He gets Kevin Na(#28) tomorrow@2:43,
Abraham Ancer defeated Kevin Streelman 2 & 1 today.
Adam and Kevin need help. In Adam's group, he needs to win and then have Kevin Na beat top-seeded Dustin Johnson (1-0-1). If those two things happen, he advances. At even odds in each match, his chance of advancing is 0.25.
Kevin needs to win and have Viktor Hovland beat Abraham Ancer. If both happen there would be a sudden-death playoff tomorrow between Streels and Ancer. His chance of advancing is more like 0.125.
Kevin Streelman plays Billy Horschel in the Round of 16.
Adam Long was set to advance, one-up going into final hole. His opponent, Scotsman Robert McIntyre, then proceed to drive the green on the par-four 18th for an eagle to halve the match. McIntyre advances with a 1-0-2 record with Adam and DJ at 1-1-1. Hmmm...
Kevin Streelman tees off against Billy Horschel at 08:46 Eastern time.
Horschel 3 Up through nine holes. Streelman needs to win some holes quickly.
In other golf involving our guys, at Corales Puntacana Alex Smalley is T-15 and Wes Roach is T-21, and in the Korn Ferry Max Greyserman is T-11 and Matt Oshrine made the cut but is T-74.
This week's PGA in San Antonio has Adam Long and in the Korn Ferry in Florida Blaum, Greyserman, Roach will play. Motin Yeung (T, '16) is also in the field..
Leona McGuire is currently tied for the lead at the ANA Classic out in Palm Springs (the former Dinah Shore tournament) - one of the LPGA majors. I was watching on the Golf Channel at lunchtime and she was getting a lot of airtime on TV, with a nice mention of Duke and her stellar amateur career. Still a lot of golf to be played but nice to see her in contention.
Adam Long shot +2 (74) today to fall to +3 which is below the +1 projected cutline.
Yes, Adam missed the cut. In the Korn Ferry, Wes Roach and Matt Oshrine made the cut, but are both far back in the field. Ryan Blaum, Max Greyserman, and Motin Yeoung (Hong Kong now) are out.
This week’s stop on the PGA Tour is the RBC Heritage on Hilton Head Island, SC. Thursday tee times:
Kevin Streelman, 07:44, #1
Adam Long, 08:17, #1
I love Harbour Town having walked that course (as a spectator) for many years. Tight fairways, tiny greens, gotta hit them straight and use strategy to do well here. Kevin usually plays well in Hilton Head, not sure about Adam.
Kevin Streelman cards a -4 (67) today and is currently T6. It is good to get off to a fast start.
Kevin bogeyed the two toughest holes #12, #17 , both on the back side. Otherwise a very good start for him in Harbour Town.
Way away in Vegas (MGM Resorts) Max Greyserman is T2 with a fine 68. Ryan Blaum and Wes Roach are T25 with 71s.
Today’s tee times:
Kevin Streelman, 12:34, #10
Adam Long, 13:07, #10
Streelman shoots Even Par 71 today to remain -4. He is currently T31. The start of the front nine, his second nine, did him in with a bogey on 1 and double bogey on 3.
Streelman tees off at 11:15 this morning.
In Las Vegas Max Greyserman is T3 (68,67), Wes Roach is T22 (71,67), and Ryan Blaum is T32 (71,68)
Kevin Streelman cards a -5 (66) today to move to -9 for the tournament. He is currently T9 with lots of golfers still on the course.
How about Leona Maguire in the next to last group in the final round on golf channel now from Hawaii.
Kevin Streelman enters today’s final round of the RBC Heritage tied for 10th place. At -9, he is nine strokes behind leader Stewart Cink (-18) and four strokes behind 2nd place Collin Morikawa (-13). Streelman has put himself in position where a strong Sunday round will result in a nice payday and Fedex points.
He tees off at 13:20.
Streels is #71 in the current Fedex standings. A nice top ten finish will put him back in the virtual top 70, likely around #60, which is what you need to make the first two of the playoff events. Still a few months from that stuff, but it is worth keeping an eye upon.
FWIW, Adam Long is #54 in the FedEx standings right now.
After three rounds in Las Vegas Blaum and Greyserman are T6 and Roach is T14.
Streelman moving the wrong direction with bogey on holes 3 and 4.
It's good to do well on the front in Harbour Town as the back side is the tougher. Kevin was two over. Hopefully next play will be better for him.
In Las Vegas Wes Roach and Max Greyserman finished T9 (maybe 15 grand or so each?). Ryan Blaum was at T22.
