Well, I think that is exactly the way the UNCheats view it.

I get that the cancellation of last year’s tournament skews my point about UVA being the reigning champions. I’m just trying to emphasize the point that it is far too soon to claim their program is in some sort of massive decline. They won the ACC regular season title THIS SEASON. It wasn’t that long ago that this board and others like it were littered with posts claiming we should try to do everything just like UVA does, from our recruiting approach to our defensive system to making a run at Bennett when K retires.
Anyways, I’ve said my peace. Getting back on topic, I’m starting to feel more confident about landing Keels. Would give us a really solid backcourt to have Roach/Steward/Keels plus some of Moore and it would explain why Goldwire chose to move on. If it doesn’t happen then there will be options available in the portal. We’ll know in a few days.
Just read the PG from Toledo is transferring. If we don’t get Keels Sunday I hope we reach out to a few other guards.
Signing another PF/C to play 15 minutes a game should solidify the front court. If Hurts stays or Baldwin signs please disregard the prior statement.
Right now we have 8 near-certain recruited scholarship players for next season. I assume K/staff very much want to add a guard. Although I’m certain they’d welcome Hurt or Baldwin, it’s not obvious to me that they are otherwise anything close to desperate to add another interior player.
Keels or a transfer guard would make a very solid 9. The backup 5s would be Coleman and Banchero (moving over from his normal 4). The backup 4s would be Moore, Griffin, and Coleman. Baker is a 3, period.
I don’t assume K would turn down a promising 4/5 transfer, but such an addition would suggest K isn’t confident that Coleman could play even 10 mpg next season. Further, adding a 4/5 who could be expected to play 15 mpg means very few minutes at the 4 for either Moore or Griffin, which means fewer minutes at the 3 for Baker.
Nine is enough for a Constant 6 plus 3 ACC-level 8-12 mpg (each) subs, a sort of fluctuating 7.5-8 rotation.
Jonas Aidoo, a top 75 recruit from NC, has de-committed from Marquette since Wojo was fired and reopened his recruitment. Apparently, Carolina was one of the first schools to reach out to him.

Right now, players who can play the 4 include Banchero, Griffin, Coleman, Moore, and Baker (not including Hurt). Players who can play the 5 include Banchero, Williams, and Coleman. That's 6 players who can play the 4/5 (not including Hurt). Depth at the 4/5 isn't an issue next year.
Guard depth, especially if Griffin is more of a forward than a guard, could very well be an issue. Keels helps that. But I agree; if no Keels, please get a backup guard.
As Duke fans we would always love to pick up another big to add depth, but what level of player would want to come just to ride the bench? The best we could hope for would be a Tape-level player, but even then I don't think that type of player would want to come into this year's situation (the key supporting evidence for this statement being the fact that Tape himself is leaving). It was different a year ago when Williams was our only true big and he was still a question mark so an incoming big could reasonably expect to compete for a starting spot.
If Keels doesn't commit then I fully expect us to go after a grad transfer guard/wing, and I think we'll be able to land a pretty good one. There's still an eternity between now and the start of the season and so much can change. Remember we got a commitment from Bagley in August. Different situation but point being given all the player movement there's no reason to panic while it's still March.
Cryptic post that may tell you what Jason was just doing.
Sampson has cut his hair... I just hope it does not affect his performance next year.
Listen to this at the 16:30 mark and I think you will be able to figure it out ;)
