Ahh, much better sleep last PM after a "local" TIPA, much better than the last 2 nights after half a bottle of coffee-infused, chocolatized BBA imperial stout. Can you say "bad dreams?"

For those of you who are inclined to acting like this; it's certainly not beer, but it is most assuredly...

Again, not gonna come close to this review, but here are a few thoughts:
Brian's Barrel Blends #12 (2020)-Hardywood Park Craft Brewery
Local if you're in the "Family Tree"
Credit-accfanfrom1970; not enough thanks available for trading this one!!
Style-double barrel aged 3 beer hybrid:eek:
Format-12 ounce can
Canned on-092920
Stemware-snifter (shoulda been a Hardywood teku :o)
Appearance-mildly cloudy bronze; modest, foamy topping
Nose-white wine, gin, orange
Mouthfeel-quite smooth
Tastes-orange liqueur, orange rind, juniper, white wine, grape must (rye?), hints of citrus; fuse is right that the NEIPA really gets lost in this blending
IBU-30 to 40 (WAG)
ABV-10% but the various barrels make it appear to be in a higher weight class
Overall rating-a great final product when you look at the label thinking "this could be a mess"
Ymm, Beer rating-mid cat 3; I thoroughly enjoyed sipping/savoring this over about an hour earlier this week
(fuse's review is still superior to my sorta weak effort, but certainly not my lamest try ever)
This was the most interesting and challenging beer to come out of Hardywood and Brian’s Blend. I’m glad you and RJ and Fuse enjoyed it. Like you said, if I read it to you the thinking is , “this is a mess,” but it is really good, really different. A nice challenge.
Knock, knock; is the host here to accept an early offering:
From earlier this week (hiding on crazietalk):
The Vapors-New Anthem Beer Project
Darn close to local
Credit-the vacation theme (thanks, OPK!) and the weekend "destination"
Style-IPA, almost milkshake style
Format-pint can
Glassware-nonic pint
Appearance-pineapple juice with some foam
Nose-pineapple and stone fruits
Mouthfeel-juicy
Tastes-pineapple, peach, cantaloupe, OJ and various rinds
Hops-Galaxy and Simcoe
Adjuncts-lactose
IBU-maybe 40
ABV-7%
Overall impression-there are a lot of fine IPAs out there and this is one of them; waiting for clemmonsdevil to show up with a better one
Ymm, Beer rating-low cat 3; maybe not quite Burial/Vail quality but this is really good
A crazy couple of weeks, but I plan to be at the VP today.
Last "new" beer I had was Founders KBS Maple Mackinac Fudge. About a minute after I finished pouring into a snifter is when we lost power (came back just over 24 hours later). Ended up sipping in bed while reading with a headlamp. Not exactly how I was hoping the evening would go. Very good, but I like CBS better. Still have the KBS Espresso to try.
To whet your appetites with something wet that might contain wheat and hoping you don't say "what," this was in hiding for a couple days:
Hazy Tropical-Wilmington Brewing Company
Local enough
Credit-vacation destination choice; thanks to OPK for his theme
Style-NEIPA
Storage-pint can
Brew date-02.08.21 stamped on label; a freshie!!
Drinking-standard pint glass
Appearance-might've been hazy and yellowish
Nose-tropical fruit juice blend
Mouthfeel-juicy
Tastes-pineapple, papaya, mango and orange
Hops/adjuncts-no info
IBU-probably 40
ABV-7.4%
Overall impression-very good quality and there are a slew of NEIPAs in search of your beer $$
Ymm, Beer rating-sneaks into cat 3, barely; definitely worth about $4 for a single or a 4 pack to share/trade
Ymm, Beer and Ymm, Donuts, a great combination.
Pub is open!
I am out hiking but let the afternoon begin.
Still trying to compose a review of Monk's Hood; it's been a busy week.
First half:
Monk's Hood-Wolf's Ridge Brewing
Local for the buying guy from a place we like to travel/vacation, keeping with OPK's theme and staying on topic
Credit-son; thanks!!
Style-flavored imperial milk stout
Format-bomber, divided over 2 nights
Packaged on-Feb/14/2020 (the beer of love)
Stemware-snifter
Appearance-dark brown; small, tan head
Mouthfeel-glorious
Tastes-dark chocolate and coffee, burn grains, dark caramel
Adjuncts-lactose, Mexican espresso and Ugandan cacao
IBU-probably 50
ABV-13.2%, hence the 11 ounce portions each night to celebrate the cheats 13 point loss to Marquette
Overall impression-delectable
Ymm, Beer rating-mid level cat 3; wonderful balance of roasty, sweet, coffee and chocolate; another round tripper from this brewery, even without BBA
Another excellent VP, Zoom hosted by fuse with OPK in absentia (we missed you). Fun times.
