Vegas baby!! World Series of Poker

The World Series of Poker began just a couple weeks ago. This thread can be a good place for folks who follow poker to talk about the goings on at the world's biggest tournament.

But, I am also here to let all of you know that on Saturday October 16th I will be playing in the World Series myself. I am going to be in Vegas through Wednesday the 20th to play in a few events (I mean, I hope I go so deep that I only play in 1 event, but the reality is that I will probably play in 2 or 3). I'm not going to have my wife or anybody else of consequence with me from Monday to Wednesday so if there are Dukies in Vegas who want to get together for a drink or chat, I'm probably going to have some free time.

I am not available Saturday night because I will be sitting next to the Chainsmokers when they perform at XS Nightclub at the Wynn. My brother is friends with the Chainsmokers and we are going to TEAR UP THE TOWN that night!

I’m hopefully headed in two weeks, very interested in your reports.

Looks like the events are uniting around 70%-75% of 2019 entries. The paucity of foreigners on the list is striking, no doubt related to the US COVID restrictions on entry.

Looks like the daily tourneys are way down too. Fewer entrants are a blessing and a curse I guess.

The XS nightclub is a very cool venue. Seeing a show there wasn't the best experience in the world, but seems like you'll have a better vantage point than I did.

What's your game of choice? Mainly NLHE? Or do you mix in Omaha, O-8, stud or other games?

You play all the games. My lifetime number of Razz and Stud sessions combined is probably less than 30. These days I play Omaha 95% of the time. Hard for me to go back to the two card game but I will if that's the only choice.

I really only play hold'em tournaments, almost exclusively no-limit. There are aspects of betting in limit hold'em that I am not good enough at to feel comfortable against a strong field. I really enjoy Omaha, but have not played it enough to be anything but cannon fodder in a good field.
