Pat Forde Chat

Forde just finished a chat on espn and he answered some questions about the Hansbourough/Henderson incident. But here are a couple of comments he made about Coach K and his ranking in college coaching history.

Mike (D): Better coach, Coach K or Izzo????

Pat Forde: K. And that's not disrespect to Izzo, who is a Hall of Famer in his own right. But Krzyzewski gets my vote as the best college coach not named John Wooden. Even if his potshot at Roy for having Tyler Hansbrough in the game Sunday was weak.

Later in the chat he had this to say

Chris, Hamilton NJ: So in your earlier comments you say Coach K is the best coach not named John Wooden - ummm, how about Dean Smith?????

Pat Forde: Chris: ummmmm, how bout him? K is one-up on Dean in titles and will pass him easily in all-time wins. And there were no Fred Brown/Chris Webber moments in Duke's titles that I recall.

I love the last sentence.

This just illustrates how people can sometime over react to the written word. I mean, many folks decided that Forde is a Duke / K hater after his article about the repercussions for Duke after Sunday's incident. However, clearly he doesn't hate K or Duke... perhaps we should all remember to take things, especially things written on the internet with a grain of salt.

Great pickup. I printed that second exchange and cornered all the UNC fans I know who were ready to crown Forde yesterday as our next president. They didn't know whether to curse Forde or just cry. Looks like ol' Pat loves to get reactions out of people. Doesn't surprise me in the least...
