The women's golf team is looking good.
Campbell and Duke tied at 2 in the bottom of the 4th.
Duke erupts for 8 runs in the 4th and leads 10-2.
Final score 14-7 with a season-high 15 hits. Cheek and Murray each with three hits. Relief pitching is still an issue but the game was never in doubt.
There's still a chance we can build a profile of a NCAA Tournament team, but I think we have to win 4 of the last 5 ACC series, a very tall order. 3 + winning our ACC pod is pushing it.
This weekend against Wake really is the turning point for our season. Wake is 1/2 game behind us for the last ACC Tournament spot. My notes may be wrong, but I think we have not won a baseball series against Wake in Durham since 1994. You might remember that year because Grant Hill lead us to the Final 4 at the end of our 7/9 F4 run.
We really need 2 great starts + some timely hitting.
After one complete inning, Duke 0, Wake 0. Brereton on the mound for Duke.
Why no Cooper? Josh Allen comes in w/ 2 on, one out in the 2nd.
Through four complete innings, still 0-0.
Cooper was moved to Sunday after the Monday start. Tonight was supposed to be Henry Williams, but he's apparently injured. Hence, Johnny Allstaff tonight.
I hope Henry gets well quickly.
I'm looking forward to Luke Fox as a starter next year.
Wake takes a 1-0 lead. Throwing error on Ethan Murray.
4-0 Wake after a HR.
Our team has apparently thrown in the towel. We have lost our last 2 ACC games by a combined score of 32-8.
With the score still tied at 0-0 Duke hades runners on first and second with one out and Peter Matt at the plate. Our guy at 2nd fell asleep and got picked off by the WF pitcher. Then unbelievably with Matt still batting, our man on 1st got picked off, inning over. It was like watching our football team this past year.
Duke jumps out to a 2-0 lead over WF in the first.
