For the years he was healthy he was as good a running back as the NFL has ever had. Stunning talent.
I watched him play in a preseason game at Carter-Finley Stadium against the Redskins. He was a special player. Sad news.
"Brian's Song" speech! Still gives me chills. Magnificent person, Mr. Sayers. Legendary doesn't begin to describe the man.
I saw him play at Wrigley Field, former home of the Bears, back in the late 1960's. Fabulous player and, by all accounts, a good man.
As a kid, I read his book I Am Third. The Lord is first, my friends are second and I am third.
I read “I am Third,” still have the paperback. Watched Brian’s Song every time it was on. Met him at a memorabilia/ autograph show. He was so humble and gracious. I was one of the few non-Bear fans in line, got him to sign a Kansas replica helmet- and he enthusiastically added “The Kansas Comet.” All class, and the best kickoff return man I every saw.
