Sierra Nevada Hazy Little Thing accompanies burgers very well. 🍻
An eclectic mix of eight NC beers acquired from a funky little local shop in Aberdeen, NC. More to follow, beginning tomorrow. Drink Independently, my Ymm Beer friends.
Burial doesn't just brew fabulous IPAs and IIPAs. More tomorrow.
Foolery - Hardywood Imperial Milk Stout aged in bourbon barrels, 2020 version. 13%, after twelve months in bourbon barrels. Big chocolate, vanilla, and caramel flavors, hints of dark cherry, tobacco, oak, and a nice warming finish. Seems like everyone is doing BBA Stouts. But this is Goose Island level, high cat 3. Spectacular.
D9 Cucumber Melon Gose
First one opened from the eclectic mix. Bright gold. Virtually no head. Everything about this beer is subtle. Hint of melon. Very slight hint from the cucumber. Nice and salty, with just the right amount of tart. Mega-refreshing on a filthy hot Carolina day. 🥵
Wise Man Tropical Shirts
Blackberry Raspberry Berliner Weisse
Well, I just had to find this given discussion here.
There is such a joy and delight in unexpected beer colour.
What is it about a rose coloured beer that evokes a grin?
No head.
Nose is almost like spoiled vanilla- rotten, sweet in a good way.
I don’t really know how to describe the smell.
Sharp effervescence dances on the tongue, giving way to ripe, luscious dark fruit. While the flavour trends to tart, not sweet, this is a subtle sour.
I see what the fuss is about. This is a fun beer to savour and enjoy.
Cheers! 🍻
Nightcap last PM:
A Cursed Path to Nowhere-Burial Beer Company
Calling it local is fine with me.
Credit-our son received this as a trader from a friend last week and shared it with me; thanks!!
Style-flavored imperial stout
Format-500 ml bottle
Serving vessels-snifters, of course
Appearance-dark, dark brown with a wispy tan head
Scents-cinnamon and coffee
Mouthfeel-roasty bitter and a bit thin
Tastes-leads with cinnamon and coffee followed by vanilla and a bit of chocolate covered nuttiness
Adjuncts-coffee, vanilla beans, salted hazelnuts and cinnamon
IBU-35
ABV-12.5% (whoa!), yet quite smooth and no alcohol burn
Overall impression-very well concocted
Ymm, Beer rating-low/mid cat 3; not much from Burial is cheap and I'd guess this was $15+ but it was an outstanding pour
Just had one of these fresh on draft with Mattman and our better halves. Refreshing beer and even better company.
I started with Thrilling Daydreams - DIPA - 7.7%, 91 IBU (Nahh it went down smooth and fast) - Mosaic, Citra, & Sultana
Website tells me it starts juicy cantaloupe and dried mango. Melon aroma and taste balanced with fresh hops. I don't know, I was enjoying strong Cat 2 NEIPA and even better company.
Cheers!
