I doubt we will see a schedule for a while.
Duke has released part of its baseball schedule for 2021. From what I can tell after a super cursory scan, we play every team but FSU, the 1 series we had last year.
https://goduke.com/sports/baseball/schedule
Duke has released its full baseball schedule. There's not any surprises, but I do hope Coastal returns a series in 2022.
https://goduke.com/sports/baseball/schedule
I’m looking forward to the season to see us build on the recent success. All home games scheduled for DBAP.
Me too, but good luck with that. I talked with Kevin White and he evinced no desire to push for in-person attendance. Says they are subject to state rules (true) but no indication he or others would try to exert any pressure to have them changed. You would think there would be some reward for getting vaccinated, but I guess the powers that be are content to let us die of boredom instead of dying of covid.[/LIST]
Baseball schedule is updated with times on goduke.com if you want to look. No TV/streaming options listed. The season starts Friday at 4PM. The games are on ESPN+.
Pitching coach, left to take a position with the Cardinals.
https://goduke.com/news/2021/2/12/ba...ges-hires.aspx
Promoted Chris Gordon from within to be new pitching coach, position he's held before.
It's opening day and the Chronicle sets the stage with a fabulous article on the resurgence of the Duke baseball program under Coach Pollard. Go Duke! Beat Costal Carolina!

Since the game is on ESPN+ and Duke is not broadcasting free over the internet right now, the best I can find is the road radio broadcast online for this weekend's games. Click Listen Live at the top.
https://wrnn.net/
Chris Crabtree hits a 2 run HR in top of the 2nd to give Duke a 2-1 lead.
Duke expands lead to 4-1 in 4th.
Peter Matt hits a 2-run homer to expand Duke’s lead to 7-3.
The game is streaming on ESPN +. Link
through goduke.com if you’re signed up for
espn +.
It’s 7-4 bottom of 7th
12-4 Final.
Doubleheader tomorrow afternoon.
Do we know if it is televised somewhere, even ESPN+?
Both games will be streamed on ESPN+ per GoDuke.com:

You win. ;) The Duke feed is below for non-conference road games not on ACCNX.
https://listen.tunein.com/dukebaseball
It's 3-3 as we head to the bottom of the 5th. The Coastal pitcher has been really good so far.
Duke has runners on 2nd and 3rd with no outs in T9. Still 3-3.
EDIT: Bases loaded on an intentional walk.
5-3 Duke, no outs. I would not name a child Alaska.
7-3 with 3 outs until a series win.
7-4 now. Tying run to the plate one out. Do not agree with keeping this guy in, this is playing with FIRE.
Winning run on first, 1 out bases loaded for Coastal. Seidl melted down and Pollard FINALLY pulls him. Ugh.
Well that sucks
Walk off HR for CC to beat the Devils :mad::mad:
Duke loses on a walkoff grand slam.
Just bizarre pitching choices by Pollard, keeping an obviously burnt reliever in for multiple batters too late and then bringing in a guy who pitched two innings yesterday.
This is a bad one to lose.
Final: Coastal Carolina 8, Duke 7
Not a good omen for the year when your pen can't hold a 4 run lead in the 9th. in your second game.
Still the 1st inning, 4 runs by Coastal already, and two on base.
Bull pen already activated. It appears that Duke has some pitching problems.
Coastal Carolina jumps all over Duke in the 1st inning and take a 5-0 lead as we head to the 2nd.
And knocks out our Sunday pitcher Jack Carey after giving up all 5 runs and getting only 1 out.
Ericson Nichols hits a 3 run HR . 5-4 in the top of the 2nd.
Nichols hits a two run rbi double in the 3rd giving him 5 rbis and Duke a 6-5 lead. He did not play in the first 2 games.
Thanks ump. :)
8-5 Duke. Still 1 outs, top 5. Not gonna feel confident till we hit 12 runs or so this game
Duke leaves the bases loaded in the 5th. Hope that doesn't come back to bite them.
New Pitcher, McCarthy comes in and has....well it was a 3 batter inning, but a creative one: goes 3-0 on the first batter but comes back to strike him out, walks the next guy on 4 pitches, strikes out the next guy on 3 pitches and then the man on first gets caught stealing.
So 1-2-3 what have you. I'd...still not feel confident in the second inning of his work.
McCarthy gets through another inning 1-2-3 and then after a strikeout to start the 7th, an E-6 leads to a single and a double.
two runs score, 8-7 Duke, man on 2nd with 1 out. Pollard now pulling McCarthy.
Bases loaded for Coastal, one out, after another single and a HBP. Definitely starting to agree with that we have pitching issues theory.
Pollard bringing in another new pitcher.
And a game tying hit by pitch. 8-8. Still loaded with 2 outs for coastal.
Duke gets out of it tie game, and now scores two runs to go back up 10-8
Pollard leaving in Conte too long again. 9th inning no outs walks and hits the first two batters . And no pitching change
This is inexcusable managing. 10-9 after another walk with two passed balls . WHAT WAS POLLARD WAITING FOR?????
Duke wins! 10-9. Managed to somehow throw a man out at home on a squeeze attempt and then 2Ks salvaged the split
What a game...what a day.
Congrats on taking the opening series!
Side note, did anyone watching the feed notice the mouse cursor on the screen for the last inning? That thing was annoying the hell out of me; I kept moving my own mouse to move it.
Not sure if everyone is aware of the success Coastal Carolina baseball has had?
Just since 2000, the Chanticleers have 16 NCAA Tournament appearances, including 3 Regional championships, and the 2016 NCAA College World Series championship

A series win at their place is a nice achievement
Saturday's game was the first opener that they've lost at home in their new stadium, which from the TV looked very nice. (So they are now 6-1) I'm guessing that the weekend made it their first opening series loss, too.
They are a great program and this was a great win for Duke. Next up is ECU on Tuesday in Greenville, which is another team with solid history. Weather is looking nice for that one.
All in all, CCU is probably a 2 seed, possibly a low 1/host, by May. Winning a road series really helps, particularly with 6-8 teams near us that have preseason aspirations to host. The NCAA isn't going to concentrate that many teams together--think rain and Monday doubleheaders.
From what I can tell on radio, we have some pitching issues outside Cooper Stinson to figure out. While I am frustrated with how we lost the 2nd game, I can understand why he gambled and lost trying to squeeze a 1/2 inning out of Marcus Johnson. I probably would have used one of the Game 3 relievers to save the W.
Bats seem to be good, but I've heard CCU's stadium is a bit of a launching pad.
I hope CCU returns the favor next year with a series in Durham. Hoping we get quality win #3 from one of those 6-8 teams on Tuesday.
Ehhhh let's not get carried away. In the poll cited by Duke itself (I can't seem to figure out which poll that is), Duke was 17 and Coastal was 23 coming in to today, and just looking at the 5 polls on the NCAA website, both Duke and Coastal were only ranked by two of the polls. They're historically a very good program, and we will not DROP in any polls for taking a series on the road against them.
But they're not a likely regionals host this year.
Duke moves up to 11 in the rankings while their next opponent (ECU) is at 24.
https://www.baseballamerica.com/rank...seball-top-25/
While Duke's move to number 11 is great news, the truth is that if we could have held a 7-3 lead in the ninth inning of game two, we would have swept CCU. Many of their pitchers are new this year (twelve new recruits/transfers) so there is no knowledge about how good they are or will be. This Duke team has a chance to be really good! Go Duke! GTHC!

ECU up 1-0.
2-1 ECU, bottom 5. Nifong’s given up two runs and been whiffing no one through four but he’s being very efficient and not walking guys, which is what you want for your midweek guy. Need the offense to pick up
Dockman comes in and gets 2 easy fly outs to end the 5th w/ a runner on 2nd.
Well dockman loads the bases in the sixth with to outs sooooo sigh.
ECU plates 4 in the 7th. 6-1.
Today’s ACC Opener against Boston College at 3 pm will be broadcast on ACCN.
2-2 with BC in the 4th.
Chad Knight puts one in orbit over the left field fence for a 2 run homer - Duke up 4-2 in the 4th. Stinson on the mound for the Devils.
Pollard bringing Dockman in to pitch in 5th with runners on 1st and 2nd no outs.
BC takes the lead 5-4 in the 5th. I hate to say it, but this is not a top 25 pitching staff - and we are breaking in a new pitching coach. This could be a long year.
Rain pouring down in bottom of 5th, Duke down 5-4 with one on base, one out.
We started our ace today - BC pulled their ace and started a reliever - and yet BC leads in the 5th.
I think the rain helped lots to get the first two runners on base with wild wet pitches.
Paid off, Duke tied it up before the strike out exit. (Loved the RBI)
Duke gets a 2 out rbi single to tie it 5-5 after 5. The rain c ontinues.
Duke ties it up 5-5 in bottom of 5th. Rain Delay.
And now the tarp comes out.
Here's the video of that very cool moment.

Game 1 with BC will resume today at 1 pm followed by Game 2 45 minutes after the conclusion of the first game.
https://goduke.com/news/2021/2/26/ba...-in-sixth.aspx
what field are they playing on?
Game underway headed to B6 still tied 5-5. I’m listening here:
https://tunein.com/radio/Duke-Baseball-s308233/
Duke takes a 6-5 lead in B7. RBI single by R.J. Schreck scores Rothenberg.
BC gets 3 in the top of the 8th to go up 8-6.
BC scores 3 runs in T8 to take an 8-6 lead. Top of the order coming to bat for Duke.
Amazing throw from Schreck to the plate for the tag out.
Maybe he is an ogre.
BC wins 10-6.
Final: BC 10, Duke 6
That sucked
Time to get some defense going.
Announcers note that Duke is 2-3 on the new season, BC is 4-0.
2-0 start for the Devils.
LOL @ the "Hey Man, Nice t-shirt, you went to Duke?!" ad.
Radio reply is "yes I did", yet in reality, it's "Um, no, I bought this because the basketball team has won a gajillion games, nice to meet you, too."
10-3 top 9th 2 out. I like our chances!
Rubber match tomorrow. I don't like how we finished last night's game today but this was a great/needed rebound game against a good, previously undefeated team. Coach Pollard still getting a feel for who can contribute in the early going, especially on the pitching staff.
First ACC win. Do it again tomorrow.
Headed to T3, Duke and BC tied at 1.
Carey gets through 3 Innings, 50 pitches, 2 Hits, 1 Run, 3 Walks, 1 K.
Not ideal outcomes but damage limited and the stuff seems to be okay. D1 Baseball's Aaron Fitt is tweeting scouting reports from the game here btw: https://twitter.com/aaronfitt
EDIT: Fitt is with D1Baseball not BA, my bad.
Duke freshman reliever gives up a 2 run dinger but duke counters w/ a solo shot. 3-2 BC in the bottom of the 5th.
Duke loses 5-2.
3-4 (1-2) on the season
Back to back homers give Duke a 6-3 lead over Davidson in the bottom of the 3rd.
Duke wins, beating Davidson 7-3. Duke is now 4-4. After losing 2 out of three to BC, Duke dropped out of the top 25.
Weekend series with Pitt (6-1) at DBAP. Today’s game starts at 4 pm.
https://goduke.com/news/2021/3/4/bas...cc-series.aspx
Pitt has won six in a row including an impressive series sweep on the road at top ten ranked Florida State. You can catch the game streaming on the ACCNetwork.
Pitt gets a two out two strike HR in the first to lead 1-0.
The Pitt pitcher is throwing so hard he has already broken and replaced two pant belts. WOW. Never seen that before.
By the way, the Pitt pitchedr who is kicking our butt today was the ACC pitcher of the week last week. Still 1-0 Pitt after 3.
Duke ties it in the 4th - Loperfido turns a ground ball single to left into a double, goes to 3rd on a wild pitch and scored on a slow grounder to third. The play at the plate was reviewed and upheld.
Cooper Stinson has eight strikeouts through six innings. Still tied at 1 as Duke comes to bat in B6.
Duke takes the lead 2-1. Peter Matt drives in Michael Rothenberg.
Duke leads 3-1 as we head to T7. Cooper Stinson still on the mound but Dockman is warming in the bullpen.
Another Pitt replay review fails and Duke scores another run on a couple of slow grounders. 3-1 duke after 6.
Cooper looking strong after 86 pitches.
Billy Seidl taking the mound for Duke in T8.
Cooper, Big Red, pitched like the Ace we were hoping for this year - 98 pitches - 7 innings - one earned run.
We go to the 9th, 3-1 Duke. Marcus Johnson in to close.
And that's a Blue Devil winner, 3-1. Pitching, fielding and small ball were the keys. Impressive win.
That’s a Blue Devil winner!
Winning a pitching duel against a solid opponent? Who is this Duke Baseball team!
Kudos to him. We're going to need a lot of quality starts from him.
I looked at the live baseball RPI, which is meaningless but fun this time of year. BC is #1, Duke is #5 with the #2 SOS (the SOS is not completely insane), and Lamar jumped 227 spots into the top 10 by improving to 2-0. :)
Henry Williams on the mound for Duke this afternoon. The game is underway.
Duke takes a 1-0 lead in B1. Loperfido scores on a Rothenberg sacrifice fly.
Pitt pitcher needs to be pulled, just for the safety of Duke players.
He's pegged two in this inning alone. Hit Loperfido and took him out.
Beanball rbi for Loperfido. 4-0 Duke. Bases still loaded w/ 2 outs.
Duke adds a run in the 3rd so it’s 5-0 heading to T4.
After getting swept by Pitt last weekend, FSU is likely taking the first 2 games against #16 Virginia, leading 9-0 today.
Chris Crabtree hits a 2 run homer to make it 7-0.
2-out walk and then a Crabtree homer makes it 7-0.
Henry Williams with 11 strikeouts through 6 innings. Pitt hits a solo homer to make it 7-1.
Williams with a career high 11 Ks but he did give up a solo shot to make it 7-1.
I need night vision goggles to watch this game since the sun shifted.
8-1 after well...college baseball happened. (Wild Pitch and no one helped the catcher cover home). Still two men on one out for Duke to add to this lead going into the ninth
Duke wins the series and goes for the sweep tomorrow. The bullpen is in great shape.
8-1 that's a blue devil winner
Who knew Duke was a baseball school? Certainly not a bball school today.
We are a baseball school. Our talent is superb. When can we watch in person at DBAP? Oh, I forgot...Duke and NC protect our lives. SMH
Jack Carey on the mound for Duke this afternoon. Game is underway with a hit batter with the first pitch.
Duke scores one in the 1st but leaves the bases loaded.
Duke takes 3-1 lead on a 2 run homer by Michael Rothenberg.
We again leave the bases loaded in the 3rd, 3-1 Duke.
Two out RBI triple knocks out the Pitt starter, so both teams are into their pens after the 4th. 4-2 Duke, after 4 innings.
Pitt batter is named "Kyle Hess" and I was very confused upon hearing that name at first.
4-2 Duke after 5. Both starters are out.
Pitt threatening after our reliever, McCarthy, makes a great pick play to field a comebacker and then, trying to get a Double Play, throws the ball into center field.
Duke gets out of a bases loaded no out jam giving up only one run and leads 4-3 in the 6th.
Ouch...that Pitt ball boomed.
Pitt takes a 5-4 lead w/ a two run homer in the 8th.
Good lord, poor Joey is a beanball magnet. Third pitch he's been hit by in the last two days, second in this game.
Duke gets a man with no outs, wastes a batter sacrificing because sigh, college baseball, and then squanders two on one out in the 8th.
3 outs left for them to survive.
Pitt wins 5-4. Duke wins the series but cannot complete the sweep.
Duke falls 5-4. Bullpen just not good enough again - might have some difficulty taking Sunday games all season if we can't put up crooked numbers on offense.
6-5 (3-3)
Twice we had the bases loaded w/ one out and couldn't score. Those things come back to haunt you.
Lousy timing, but Duke hosts 9-2 (and ranked) ECU today at 4. This would be a very good win if we can get it.
https://goduke.com/news/2021/3/8/bas...n-tuesday.aspxQuote:
East Carolina currently ranks No. 14 in both the Baseball America Top 25 Poll and the D1Baseball Top 25 and No. 9 in the Collegiate Baseball Poll.
Luke Fox on the mound for Duke. ECU up 1-0 in T2. I’m looking at the live stats waiting for the basketball game to start.
ECU up 3-0. Five Pirates in a row get a base hit with two outs.
ECU 4, Duke 3. Pirates at bat in the 3rd inning.
Duke ties it at 5 in B4.
ECU 8-5 now
ECU hits a 3 run homer to take an 8-5 lead in T6.
ECU lead is up to 11-5 in T9.
11-5 final. I think we are sorely missing our pitching coach.

SCHEDULE UPDATE - Due to COVID-19 issues within the program, our series at Duke this weekend has been canceled. https://gopack.com/news/2021/3/11/nc...-canceled.aspx
I had assumed we had the COVID problems.
Duke beats NCCU 7-3. Duke will try to go Life-0 in a couple weeks as NCCU is cutting its baseball program.
Duke 0, Notre Dame 0 in B3.
Headed to B4: Duke 4, Notre Dame 2.
In a game filled w/ errors and wild pitches, Duke has come back from a 2-0 deficit to lead 4-2.
