"2020 BOURBON BARREL SEXUAL CHOCOLATE RELEASE
Many of you have been anxiously awaiting word on when we would be releasing this year's version of Bourbon Barrel Aged Sexual Chocolate. Well good news and bad news . . . the bad news is, we will not be releasing Moravian Porter in 2020. This beer has become a local holiday favorite, but the pandemic has forced us to scale back our portfolio for the year, and sadly Moravian Porter didn't make the cut.
But the good news is that, in its place on Black Friday (November 27), we will be releasing BA Sexual Chocolate 2020! It's been patiently waiting in barrels all these months, and will finally be available on draft and in cans.
The tasting room will be hosting a little release party with Lobster Dogs food truck and live music from Dante's Roadhouse. Stop by and share a pour of one of our favorite beers we make!"
Somebody tell Tripping William too. Their release parties are phenomenal with side by sides of past BBA Sexual Chocolates and Olde Rabbit's Foote in the past..."

The #2 recruit at his position lives up to the ranking. Oh, my...
"Belgian-Style Tripel...
...Serving Temperature 40-45°F"
Appreciate the heads-up. Spending Turkey Day weekend in the Sandhills, but SC doesn’t have the cult following it used to, so I’m sure my gal Stella, among others, can get me hooked up.
Sorry to hear about the Moravian Porter. Will have to drink my last 2019 bottle of that one to get my Yuletide fix, I suppose.
No Trappists in T-Dub Land today, regrettably. Enjoy the VP! Sending my best to all participants.
From Thursday PM:
(again, always intimidated by trying to review a world classsic)
Westmalle Trappist Tripel-Brouwerij der Trappisten van Westmalle
A brewery with that name is not located in the US.
Credit-Virtual Pub participant and and extra $ or $$ for the single
Style-^^^^
Format-330 ml (heavyweight) bottle
Stemware-large Ommegang tulip because I don't have an "official" Westmalle glass
Appearance-yellow gold, slightly cloudy; very generous, fizzy, foamy, clingy, Belgian lacy head
Nose-floral hops, light sugar/candy syrup
Mouthfeel-sexy
Tastes-apple, pear, sourdough bread, flowers, banana, bubble gum and a pinch of black pepper
Hops-Styrian Goldings, some German varieties and the classic Saaz pilsener
Yeast-likely the same one used since 1956
Adjunct-Belgian candi sugar
IBU-probably 30-35
ABV-9.5%
Overall impression-haven't had one in a couple decades (my loss); a desert island beer
Ymm, Beer rating-upper quartile cat 3; totally worth the $6 for the bottle; anyone sipping this today will be highly impressed
On a semi-related note, it's bad news at this time of day to hear that OPK is out of gin and vodka. But, that could be crazietalk...
Borrowed, never to be returned:
"Fine Creek Golden Barrel Aged Sour
First, very cool 500ml bottle.
Crystal clear bright gold pour.
Apple cider vinegar and grape nose.
Sweet, sour, bright acid on the tongue.
Very vinous.
Remarkable beer.
Pretty sure this is a Nrrvous selection from the Compass Rose Brew Crew."
(permission granted)
I woke up yesterday at 4 in the morning with the theme song in my head and could not go back to sleep. Absolutely no idea where that came from. I had not thought of it in decades either. Didn’t really even like the show as best I can recall. But choices were few back then.
Some of this *might* make its way to NC next month or for Christmas:

To whet your appetite for later today (or even now):
"Belgian-Style Flanders...
...Serving Temperature 45-50°F"
Not brewed by monks .
Hour AM walk on beach and another hour just completed. Thirst approaching.
Oh, wait, not the Fitness Thread.
To the Zoom participants minutes ago:
That was fabulous, y'all and already looking forward to November.
