Alex with a relatively poor -1 (-10 overall, he dropped 30 spots and will drop more as more golfers finish) but he'll play tomorrow. Even a good day wasn't going to get him close to Rahm who is sitting at -24 at the moment. So a win was out of the question, but with a strong day tomorrow he could move into the top 20.
Ha!!! Adam has made a birdie and an eagle to get to -10. He is -8 for the day thru 16
Two tough holes remain.
Well, Alex's day started phenomenally (-7 thru 8), but ended just a smidge less than phenomenal (only terrific) with a final round 63 (-9) to finish T22. :) This moves him back into the top 30 of the FedEx Cup. If he keeps playing like this, he'll be competing in his 1st majors this year.
He, Adam, and Kevin are all playing Torrey Pines this week.
Alex pocketed $80,400 for his efforts in La Quinta.
The Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines in San Diego opens tomorrow (Wed.). The unusual start date is to avoid the NFL playoffs conflict. Adam, Alex, and Kevin are in the field.
Alex 10:10 South, Adam 10:10 North, Kevin 10:30 South. PST.
The Korn Ferry Bahamas event ended today and Max Greyserman finished T10 (70,67,71,70). He is now T14 in The 25 race. Keep your eye on Max, he's playing sound golf after wrist surgery.
Winds are up in San Diego, and so are scores. Only a few guys shooting in the red. Our guys are dancing around the cut line, anything can happen as golfers (and the cut) are moving a lot.
Looks like all our guys will be playing this weekend, Alex and Adam on the cut (E) and Kevin at -1.
Torrey Pines showed her teeth today. There's still some golf to play, but currently less than 30 of the 156 pros are under par for the day. The cut is only 5 shots off the top-10, a bit unusual, so lots of opportunity this weekend.
Alex, while shooting a bleah +2 in the final round, still moves up 2 spots (#27) in the FedEx Cup standings. It was a tough day in San Diego.
Adam is in great danger of losing his card next year. Though he made the cut, he came in last and is at 151 in the FedEx Cup standings. This is why it is so important to do well in Oct-Nov, when most of the big names are not playing those tournaments. Build up a cushion.
Kevin is also flirting with disaster at 108. But he's 44-years-old, so he knew this day was coming. Adam is only 35.
All three of our guy are playing Pebble Beach this week.
Where do you need to finish to keep your card? Thanks
Pebble Beach tee times, PST: Alex (Spyglass Hill) 8:41, Kevin (Monterey Peninsula) 10:20, Adam (MP) 10:31.
54-hole cut, another wrinkle is that it's low 60, not 65. A lot of rain in the forecast.
Alex and Kevin were cut last year, Adam didn't play. Hoping for better results.
Alex gets Heidi Ueberroth, Kevin gets Larry Fitzgerald Jr., and Adam gets Phillip McCrorie.
