I just got a PS3 last week, and while I'm not looking to replace my DVD collection with Blu-Rays yet, I would like to get one or two movies to really show off what Blu-Ray can do. To me there's just too many to choose from.

So, what's a fun, dynamite movie that would really push it? Something that would definitely look and sound better on BR than DVD? Or is there something this summer that I should wait for? Hulk? Ironman? Maybe I'll make a poll of the frontrunners to narrow it down to one already out and one soon to come.

Thanks...

I bought the planet earth (http://www.buy.com/prod/planet-earth-complete-collection-blu-ray/q/loc/322/204048768.html) series and it is amazing. Not the kind of fare you're looking for, I'm afraid (it's the most amazing nature photography you've ever seen, but not in the action genre).

I heard that was excellent. I was considering that one anyway, but yeah, for the purposes of this thread, I was just looking for the more cinematic SFX type experience. What about something really visual, like Jet Li's Hero or Curse of the Golden Flower or Last Samurai?

Planet Earth is simply amazing. Highly recommended.

The Harry Potter movies were the first that popped into my mind, but there are probably more eye-popping choices.

Thanks...A couple of awesome DVDs for HD viewing:

V For Vendetta and Live Free Or Die Hard

Try 300. I have on HD-DVD. Blood and heads flying everywhere.

(I know, I backed the losing horse.)

Thanks for your responses. I'd love to get our movie reviewers', like Jason, opinions. :)

I had a walmart giftcard, and I bought the fifth element and the italian job for $18 each on sale. I wanted those on DVD, but decided to go Blu-Ray when I saw them on sale. Still looking for something awesome, though. Maybe I'll just wait 'til Ironman comes out. I like all the suggestions, but I already have all of them on DVD. Somebody else told me Transformers, but again, I have it on DVD already. Any other suggestions? Thanks.

How about Casino Royale, the Craig Daniels version?

Not sure if it's available on Blu-Ray, but the 1990 Dick Tracy film with Warren Beatty is possibly the best visual argument I've ever seen for the HD format.

A few months ago I was in Circuit City and they were showing one of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies on Blu-Ray and it was unbelievable. I couldn't take my eyes off of it. Honestly, it didn't look like a movie. It looked like I was watching it live on stage.

I've heard that Jumper is the best selling title of all time on Blu-ray and is supposed to be great visually. The movie is alright, although nothing to rave about. But the visuals are tremendous.
