NCSU Coach Elliott Avent has picked Miami. as his favorite saying:

"Miami, overall, is the best team we saw all season. They don't have any glaring weak spots.

Avent likes Miami's chances (http://www.newsobserver.com/sports/story/1107896.html)

Who is your pick to win it all?

Anybody but the baby blues. I voted for Georgia, just to make SAS-M happy.

Interesting, the early favorites are Georgia and Miami. With Miami being in the elimination round does that make Georgia the favorite?

It's bad how everything is setting up so favorably for UNC.

Atta boy. Lets go Canes!!! If we could just stop the errors, I can't see us getting beat. We gift wrapped GA a trip to the next winners bracket game. We should see them again shortly, at least I'm hoping we do.

I was so PO'd at that last inning, especially after how they started. Hopefully they take the Criminoles to task today like they did earlier in the season.

The victory for UGA was probably a fluke, at least in the way they won the game. However, at this stage of the tournament, I'll take 4 more fluke wins and be done!

Florida State has jumped out to an early lead in the first. Either way, one really good team is going home today.

The NCAA tends to give them a free ride, for some reason.

Well I'm pretty surprised how this CWS has ended up. UGA's bullpen has looked more dominant that the Atlanta Braves over the last couple games.

How 'bout them Dawgs? I thought Fields was going to lose it yesterday and never throw another strike. The last thing I expected, given the kind of ball he throws, was a double play ball.

Josh tends to have a tendency to get a bit dramatic. He has yet to blow a save opportunity this season, but he'll still make you think he might be about to blow it. However, going into this CWS, Fields was really the only one who had been consistently dominant down the stretch (even then, he struggled against Louisville and N.C. State). The great play by McRee, Weaver, and Dodson has really been key. Also, the bottom of lineup (David Thoms, Lyle Allen, Joey Lewis, etc) has been terrific! 2-out hitting and good pitching is how you win ball games.

Nicely done properly disposing of the Semenoles, good sportsmanship shown by the FSU coach (why should I expect any different) in not coming out of the dugout to shake the players' hands.

Now if we can knock off Stanford, we will get our rematch with GA that I am dying for us to have. It could be a repeat from the Arizona Super Regional, they take game 1, and we come back to take games 2 and 3 to put us in the championship series. 3 more games Canes, you can do it!

Canes need to catch fire here because the Stanford pitching has it on lock down. 7-1 Stanford in the 6th inning. Miami only has 3 hits!

I'll now throw my support the way of GA (Almost said the Bulldogs, but can't, thanks Fresno!) I hope they win it, in the words of Carl Spackler "The Cinderella story, coming out of nowhere....."

Down go the Hurricanes! So far, this hasn't been a very good showing for the ACC in the College World Series. 2 of the 3 teams have been eliminated (FSU & Miami) and UNC will have to win 3 in a row just to stay alive.

Don't make me reconsider my support of your Dawgs :p The errors made in Game 1 vs GA were the undoing of us, taking away our "We can mess up" game right off the bat. Had we simply executed in the 9th inning that game, we could have afforded a loss and lack of hitting like we endured last night. Defense is at a premium at the CWS as Orel Hershiser has informed us so many times, but it's true. Defense let us down last night, and in game 1. Still great season by my boys, 54-10 for a final record (I may be off on the wins).

I'm very relieved that Georgia doesn't have to play Miami to get to the Championship Series. I realize that what happened in the UGA/Miami game was a fluke and Miami probably closes out Georgia in that 9th inning on most days. However, at this stage of the season, I'll gladly take the fluke victories and be done with it. I'm much more optimistic at having to take one out of two from Stanford, instead of having to hold off Miami. Hopefully the Dawgs can continue their outstanding pitching success. There should be a GREAT game tonight in the other bracket. UNC/LSU, another good team is going home tonight.

Oh yeah, please don't think I was trying to take anything away from GA's win over Miami, I was just pointing out that the mindset going into a double elimination tournament is usually, play your best each game, but you always have your one "slipup" game that you can get away with. Our problem became that we gave that away in one half inning. GA had to put those balls in play to force the UM errors, so I take nothing from them for that win. I think Im pulling for a GA v Fresno final series. Please God just let UNC lose. I really think LSU can handle them.

Well half of the championship series is decided. I think we're all hoping for an All-Bulldogs chamionship set. I really thought LSU was going to beat UNC last night. They missed on a huge opportunity with the bases loaded in the late innings and then UNC made them pay. If UNC can somehow make it past Fresno St., it's going to be a battle of endurance of having to play so many consecutive days.

You just keep expecting the magic to run out for Fresno State and they just keep going. They're up 3-2 on the Heels in the 6th inning. This team is like last season's Colorado Rockies. They are on fire at the perfect time.

Loved that double play to end the 3rd (wait was it the 3rd?). Bases are loaded. We're hitting the casinos right after the game is over.

As a Georgia fan, I couldn't be happier with how the other bracket is shaping up. I'd prefer to see Fresno State over UNC in the championship series, but both of them are good teams who will be tough opponents. However, I hope Carolina and Fresno continue to battle each other out and really bring on the fatigue. Tonight, I'm hoping for an 18-inning classic that completely depletes both pitching staffs. Come on extra innings!

Well that's a safe bet to pull for the Bulldogs in the championship. Aside from one bad inning last night, Fresno really took it to the Heels.

Georgia is now one game away from the National Championship. Like them or not, the Dawgs have had some UNBELIEVABLE comebacks in this College World Series. Gordan Beckham is my hero!

wow- Cerrone (sp?) goes from the Platinum Sombrero to coming through with a huge clutch hit. Also, did anyone notice that it looked like Poythress saw where the catcher was lining up to catch the throw in and tried to redirect himself a little to get in that line?

I love watching the CWS - there is so much emotion in every play.

WHO'S THAT COMING DOWN THE TRACK???

Cerione really was huge in that play. He made good contact on the ball and put in play where Poythress had time to run all day. Then, Cerione made it all the way to 3rd after the play at the plate. Being at 3rd was huge because it made the infield have to come in, which enabled Lewis to bounce one back up the middle for a hit, which gave the Dawgs the lead. All around great team effort with Gordo leading the way!
