I probably jinxed it by posting this, but the Lady Turtles trail #7 seed Ole Miss 47-30 at the half. I suppose I should be pulling for the ACC (and Lord knows I don't like Ole Miss), but an involuntary excitement surfaces.

Living here in D.C., less than a mile from Alaska, I feel the excitement. Down 20 with 13 1/2 minutes to go. Losing to a team starting a player named "Ashley Awkward". Bet she's tough.

I think you can stick a fork in the Terpettes--now down 21 with a about 12.5 minutes to go. Either that, or we're going to see a collapse for the ages from Ole Miss. Maryland may set a record for turnovers in a game tonight--20 in the first half alone, and it's continued into the second.

Hold that fork--Maryland has cut the lead to 11 with 4 minutes left...

Tolliver keeps hitting 3s. Or so gametracker tells me.

Yes...and now Ole Miss is turning the ball over a lot...down to a 6-point game with 2 minutes to go. If Maryland completes this comeback, they'll believe they are a team of destiny...

ESPN just showed a graphic: no defending women's champion has ever lost in the 1R, and only two have in the 2R.

Ole Mess now leads by 9 with 1:15 left.

Is anyone getting NCSU-Baylor (women)? Tied late.

NCSU-Baylor going to overtime--they switched to that game on ESPN2, just in time to show that State had a 2-point lead and the ball under a minute, but turned it over and gave up a fastbreak layup to tie the score. Then State missed a pair of free throws. Sadly, State seems to be fading a bit.

I was hoping for 3 out of 4 from the acc in my old home, Cleveland, for the finals. (that's right, including unc. while i am not a fan, i don't hate them the way i hate the men's program.)

Your dream may come true: the Wolfies are still alive. They probably have to play UConn, but they're still alive.

unc pulled away at the end to beat ND 60 - 51. So We win today unc wins, Kay Yow and NC State win and umd can pack their bags and go home. Bit surprised about md losing today and NC State is still on a mission for Kay. They sure are building up steam and could be trouble down the road.

And UConn screwed around for 60% of the game and then pulled out the whupass canister.

But our #2, Vandy, dug themselves too big a hole and eventually lost.

A re-match with Bowling Green looks possible. B.G. frustrated Vandy with a great job by Achter, their point, leading the way. B. G. played us tough before and has improved.

LOL! I'd prefer to see the wolfpack there, i just don't think it's very likely, although they are riding quite the wave of emotion right now.

As for Ivory Latta, I harbor no affinity for her but I don't hate her either. I understand that most duke fans think she's evil incarnate but antics such as hers have never really bothered me, unless the players picked out specific personal targets on the other team. To me, she's just an excitable person who pumps herself up to play by adopting a me/us againt the world attitude and playing with a chip on her shoulder. I really don't have any problem with that. I do get that many other people do. Fine for them.
