Former track athlete Antonio Pettigrew testified under oath to using banned substances back in the late 90s before he won medals in the 2002 Sydney Olympics. He is now an Assistant Coach at Carolina.

He was actually testifying against his former coach, Trevor Graham, who seemed to be the instigator/enabler. Pettigrew is godfather to Graham's daughter:

"Federal prosecutors called Pettigrew to testify against his former coach Trevor Graham, who is on trial for allegedly lying to investigators about his relationship with a prolific steroids dealer. Pettigrew, who is godfather to Graham's daughter, testified that he began doping at Graham's suggestion. He won a gold medal at the Sydney Games."

They will likely now promote him to head coach - kind of like having Ford coaching and recruiting bball players after multiple DUIs.

Check out this picture of USC football player Brian Cushing.

Cushing's been tangentially linked to roids for a while. Ya think? I don't think it's so tangential.

Michael Johnson will turn in his gold medal for the Sydney games men's 4x400m relay. Pettigrew was on that team. Add in the Harrisons, and 3 of the 4 members on the team have been on stuff.

Looks like the whole Trevor Graham operation was dirty. A lot of the training was based in the Triangle---I remember seeing sprinters work out at the NC State track.

What a pity for track and field---it's reached the status of cycling, where doping is so common that the default assumption is that a given big-time performer is probably using.
