I have a 4 year old at my church that can ball, maybe Coach K should give him a look.

Didn't Kentucky supposedly have OJ Mayo locked up when he was in 7th or 8th grade?

Damn, we have to wait like 5 or 6 years to see who has the last laugh.

Will Gillespie even be there any more when this kid gets to campus?

Really out of control, isn't it? I suppose since Shelden Williams and Candace Parker are married, Coach K ought to offer, before any successful sperm take flight, a scholarship to any and all of their male offspring. The pedigree makes this a sure winner.

Besides criticism from other coaches espousing moral indignation (and obvious jealousy, besides the self criticism that they themselves hadn't thought of it), they possibly have taken this as an indication that Gillespie has to cut corners to compete with them recruiting wise on such a high level.

It'll be interesting to see how much attention this gets from the Press and others (i.e. other than the obvious from within Kentucky and from their key rivals) and the NCAA. I suppose it was bound to happen pretty soon by somebody, so maybe this will serve as a prod toward addressing the problem. Too bad it had to be Kentucky, but i wonder what this may indicate about Gillespie, if anything.

i think they should have to HONOR that commitment. What if the kid turns out to be an average or below player? Hey....he's got a scholarship to UK...

Shades of Tamir Goodman.

At least he is not robbing the cradle in the "Karl Malone" sense...

and he's already academically eligible for Kentucky...

Taylor King also committed as an 8th grader. Of course, that was to UCLA.
