When their opponent hit a home run, then injured herself, she was unable to circle the bases. It was against the rules for her own to team to help her, so the players from Central Washington decided to do it themselves. (http://msn.foxsports.com/olympics/story/8091708?GT1=39002#)

Wow, thanks for sharing this.

What impresses me most is that act of kindness by the Central Washington players took their own team out of the playoffs. I don't know if my own personal sense of compassion and fair play could overpower my competitive want to win like that.

BTTT!

I saw that on the news last night. An incredible team act. I have to admire the players and, by extension, the parents, coaches and school. They have raised quality children.

Have to share a similar story members of the Garden City Golf Club told me about an old high school teammate when playing for the club championship. Tied in match play after 18, Ray and his competitor went to no. 1 again. The tee was adjacent to the driving range.

As the other guy was in the midst of his swing, somebody on the range shouted out after apparently duffing the ball. Ray's competitor hit it about 10 feet. Ray beseeched the guy to "hit again," as no one would want to benefit from such a circumstance. Naturally, as Ray would have himself, the guy refused. Ray then walked up to the Tee box, Teed his ball, and punched it 10feet.

Ray came in second that year, but first in club lore. McCloat is his last name, by the way, Raymond McCloat. And, oh, you really don't want to compete against him. He will tear your heart out, but only as the true sportsperson he is.

Props to the young women, although my old friend would say that they really had no ohter choice.

When in Portland... do as the Portlanders do. :)

That's how we roll. ;) Thanks for sharing.
