I think this was informally announced a while ago, but this is the first I saw that Shane was the runner up to Grant.
It is ironic that Grant is the first two-time winner of an award named after Joe Dumars, the executive that Grant put in such a bad position by bolting to Orlando the first year that Dumars was in office in Detroit. Grant and Joe worked it into a sign-and-trade deal that brought Ben Wallace to the Pistons. Maybe there will also be an award for a top executive that will bear Dumars' name.
