Two announcements:

Unless something drastically changes, Tyreke Evans is going to Memphis, according to a source close to the American Christian Academy all-American guard. Evans would say only that Memphis, Villanova and Connecticut were still being considered. According to the source, the 6-foot-6 combo guard, the MVP of the recent McDonald's All-American Game, picked Memphis on Friday night while in Portland, Ore.,

This kid sounds one-and-done for sure.

And then there is:

Tyree Evans, a talented but much-traveled wing guard whose college basketball career was initially derailed by legal troubles, is expected to sign a national letter of intent tomorrow at Maryland. Bobby Steinburg, the coach at Motlow State Community College in Lynchburg, Tenn., confirmed today that Evans will choose the Terps over Arizona, Florida State and Kansas State

Sounds like Sweating Gary is taking a bit of a risk here, this kid may already have two strikes against him and could be a "K" for Gary. Gary may have pulled a scholly from a kid who orally committed to get this kid:

Evans ... initially committed to Kansas State in 2004, but the Wildcats rescinded the offer after Evans was charged with statutory rape while at a prep school in Massachusetts.

The rape charge was dismissed and Evans pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of assault and battery and was placed on two years probation ... He was later dismissed from his team at Butler County (Kan.) Community College ...

After leaving the prep school, Evans played one season at Butler (Kan.) Community College, where he was reportedly dismissed from the team, before coming to Motlow State. ...

Evans finished his high school career as the third-leading single-season scorer in Virginia history ... At the time, recruiting analyst Bob Gibbons called Evans "the best wing guard in the nation." ...

Evans is expected to join another shooing guard, Sean Mosley of St. Frances, as the first two recruits to sign for next season. It isn't clear whether Maryland coach Gary Williams had another scholarship spot open up or if the Terps are still recruiting point guard Bobby Maze, who committed orally in December.
