Hello all,

I'm a long-time fan of Duke and DBR but new to the forums. I've moved to Scotland for the next three months and missing Duke games has been killing me.

Anybody happen to have any idea of how I might manage to pick up college basketball here? Are there satellite channels that pick up American sports that a sports bar (pub) might be able to show me?

I'm in Edinburgh, but spend quite a bit of time in Glasgow as well. If there's anywhere it could be done it'd be in one of those two cities.

Cheers!

You can usually listen to the games online here: http://www.1010wspc.com/wzky.htm

Other than that I don't know except what Loopy from DBR chat uses. I think its called a "slingshot." Basically it's set up in the US and gives you TV of the game over there. Somebody else might know more about it than me.

Hope that helps.

Sorry, out of luck. I am a Scot who now lives in Virginia, but when I was back in the old country, I relied on goduke.com and signed up for their radio broadcasts.

You should, however, get tickets for a Rangers-Celtic "fitba" match. Just don't wear any team colours before or after the match, especially when in a pub. Too much glass handy.

You might investigate www.espn360.com. If you can use the service you will be able to watch a number of games on your computer, live, and also replays. For example, their replay list today includes yesterday's Duke MD game.

I am not certain what the requirements are for use of the service. I have Verizon FIOS TV and that allows me to use it.

Ask pubs if they carry NASN (North American Sports Network). They definitely don't show all the Duke games, but do carry a few. They showed Duke-UNC this year, I know for sure. When I was in London, it also showed the Duke-Va Tech Sean Dockery buzzery beater game. They also show March Madness. See http://www.nasn.com/content/nasn/portal.nsf/systemcontent/tvschedule for the tv schedule. In Glasgow, there is The Sports Cafe, that I know has NASN. Don't know about Edinburgh. http://www.thesportscafe.net/locationdetail.cfm?venueID=3
I'm sure there's some out there that carry it.

BlueDog and Pamtar have got it. I live in Korea and watch via slingbox. But you've got to have someone back in the states set up one for you to watch - and while I think its just about the best thing ever, it might be a bit much if you are only there for 3 months. While I was living in London, before the slingbox days, I was able to catch many(though alas, not all) games on NASN at a couple of the London pubs. For other games that you can't watch via NASN, I'd use online radio links to follow along as best I could. ESPN360 I believe is IP restricted to within the US so isn't an option. FYI, the NASN homepage also has a place you can look for Venues (http://www.nasn.com/content/nasn/portal.nsf/systemcontent/nasnbars#edinburgh) that lists featured bars/hotels that have the channel, definitely something you might look at.

Oh, and for the first 3 rounds of the NCAA tournament, you can watch them free online with the whole March Madness on Demand (http://www.ncaasports.com/mmod). Its just the last 3 rounds that aren't available that way, but its still a great offering.

Oh, God. That match is one of the top in the world up there with the Manchester and Milan Derbys. I'd stay inside for that game, but it would be fun if I was a fan of either.

It only lets a certain amount of people on at a time so log in early and dont log out because you probably wont get back in. Duke is usually on TV though but if they are beating SW Indiana Tech by 75 they will switch to a more compelling game.

Hello, Scott. I have had good success finding Duke games and other sporting events using the site: myp2p.eu. Others recommend: channelsurfing.net.

Sign up now, you get a VIP pass for signing in early, which basically lets you cut any of the waiting lines by a significant margin. I've never had any problems watching the game I want in... erm.. I think 5 years of using it. And for the first round games I frequently switch back and forth between any games that are close without having to wait for the feed.
