Hey everybody, here it is, I am officially asking you for a dollar. I've posted here before about running the Boston Marathon this year to raise money for pediatric cancer research through Massachusetts General Hospital. I've just set up my fundraising website. My husband is running too so we're committed to raising twice the cash.

I keep saying I'm asking everyone I know for a dollar. I'm sure I know at least 6000 people if I'm allowed to count people that I only know as EarlJam or Ymo. Will I take more than a dollar? You bet, be generous. But I know you can afford a dollar. So how about it?

You can fund my efforts at http://www.firstgiving.com/lisaburdick.

I'm averaging 10:20 miles so far, longest run 11 miles although on Sunday I'm shooting for 12.

I'm moving this back to the top to encourage everyone to donate in honor of BostonDevil and her wee one.

Thanks Tilly! So far, I'd have to say the DBR is representing.

Note to Tilly: There are Super Bowl Sunday yarn sales at 3 of the local yarn stores. What's a knitter to do? (Go early, of course, so I can knit during the game. Maybe I'll find some really nice pink yarn.)

A woman after my own heart! Have fun shopping and knitting!! Will be knitting on Sunday too.

Thanks! DBR has been representing, I must say. Many, many thanks.

Knitting during the Super Bowl is a great idea - in my case, though, it would be crocheting. I give out crocheted potholders every year at Christmas, and I always seem to be finishing them at the last minute.

Best of luck in the Marathon.

Perhaps we ought to spread this message to the Love Board?

Go get 'em, Boston!
Cheers,

I'm just posting to get this moved back up to the top. And...then will visit your site and send a few bucks your way! Hope the weather cooperates.

A good cause! Hope your knees are feeling somewhat better today.

Also, for BD -- I'm not sure about company matching, but should be able to make it happen -- will let you know if you can count me in for double. :D

Knees are better and I've gotten a lot of advice on what to do, some of it conflicting of course, but I have at least some idea of what to do next. I took today off from running and it feels weird.

Bumping for GatorBait's benefit.

Poor Gator, joins the crowd and I immediately ask for money. Hey, a dollar is good!

Bumping back to the front page -- Run, BD, Run! (With or without your Doonesbury football helmet. :))

I should be making Pamtar bump this back up, as the "Ymm" threads take up most of page 1. :)

Got my thanks/receipt from Mass General in the mail which reminded me - time to bump this thread back up.

Bumping this thread just in case there are newbies who haven't seen it yet. I just got my former guitar teacher to donate! I swear, I'm asking everyone I've ever met for money. It's kind of liberating because, honestly, it's rather guilt free. I'm doing it for kids with cancer and my own kid has a brain tumor. Nobody gets upset about it.

My kid is done with chemo as I've posted in other threads!!!

Today, I ran 15 miles. That's posted elsewhere too, but I think it deserves repeating.

Is there a way to contribute via check?
