Several years ago, I looked out the window of my office in Alexandria and saw a huge bird flying nearby city hall. It appeared to my untrained eye to be an eagle but I couldn’t believe it. I posted my observations and James posted several photos and thoughts and convinced me that I wasn’t seeing things. Months later, the Post had an article about a pair of eagles who had a nest near the construction of the new Wilson Bridge over the Potomac. The construction workers named the pair, George and Martha, and the Post has had several articles over the years about them. This morning’s Post has a nice article about the eagles and a lady who took an interest in the birds and worked with the Treasury to picture two of their eaglets on a new gold coin.
