This may be a no-no on message boards but I was thinking if for only one day we could use an actual picture of ourselves as an avatar.

I've got a mental image of what everyone looks like based on keyboard personality but it would be cool to actually see everyone's faces.

Good idea? Or maybe not?

Also, isnt it strange how a side profile of Coach K looks exactly like the side view logo?

That's blasphemous!! (kidding) If you look at from the perspective of Duke haters that Coach is the devil.

Would put a picture of little (hint) ole me up, but don't have one on this computer (at work). Though I think it's a great idea! Don't see where this would be a problem with the mod's or the board owners as I think it's a persons choice to use a picture of themselves. But, I could be wrong.

Yes, I've noticed that for maybe the past 5, 7, or 11 years now. It is remarkably similar. I just wish Feldspar wouldn't use it as his avatar. For whatever reason, I just don't equate Feldspar with Coach K or the Duke mascot. No offense.

Not sure if I know what I am doing, but if I did it right this was the only decent/recent picture I could find! The kid with his wrist in a cast is my son, and this was taken in August.

I have a great picture of me with the 2001 National Championship trophy after the banquet that year but I thought showing an almost 7 year old picture would be cheating, kind of. My hair's a lot greyer now!

Yes, there is some rather stunning scenery around these parts. Was hoping someone might venture a guess, being that the birds-eye view is somewhat similar to some photos I've seen of the Appalachians. But anyway, where I live is in the Ozarks. NW Arkansas. About 50 minutes NE from Fayetteville and about 10 miles south of the Missouri border. Sort of in the middle of nowhere. The Eureka Springs/Holiday Island area. Here's a gorgeous shot of a one-lane bridge just 7 miles from my home:

Awesome!! I think it would have probably taken awhile for me to guess that this was Arkansas. My first guess would have been western North Carolina, and then somewhere in New England after that. Thanks for the answer and the photos - looks like a great place! I'll have to put that area on the itinerary sometime - the closest I've been to that area would be either Memphis or Kansas City.

I looked at the picture and thought, "That looks just like Eureka Springs, but it's probably in Virginia. No one on this board lives in Eureka." I grew up in southern Carroll County (went to school in Berryville). I have an amazing panoramic shot of my parents' farm on the wall of my office; the scenery is similar. Clear some hills and put a chicken house and a couple of hay barns in place of downtown Eureka and it's the same picture. :)

Wow!!! You grew up in Berryville?!!! Nice to meet you Arkie!!!! Yeah, Burvul is unfortunately the chicken capital of the USA. But Eureka (and I've visited Yreka California) is one of the scenic capitals of the entire USA. My grandparents lived there in the early 50's (had a farm and also owned a grocery) and my Mom grew up in Neosho Missouri and met my Dad in Springfield while she was attending SMSU in '51. (She was the homecoming Queen one year.) He already had his degree from Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois, and was in the Army (Korean War) at the time. Got his PHD from UF (hello Stray Gator!) and ended up teaching at USC for a good 10 or 12 years during the 60's and early 70's. (Hey, he flunked Mike Grosso and a couple of other stud USC stars in his Econ classes.)
