The Atlantic 10 appears to be a conference worth watching. They have two teams currently in the Top 25, Rhode Island at #22 and Dayton at #23. Xavier and UMass are both off to solid starts plus Richmond beat Virginia Tech, while Xavier was destroying Virginia.

If my memory remains accurate, UVa has had an historical tendency to do quite well through early-December and then to fold in January and February. I do not suggest this is an absolute truth, or that it occurs every year, but it has happened with some frequency. Virginia now has three losses: Seaton Hall, Syracuse, and Xavier. Syracuse was a good game and there was no shame in that two-point defeat. However, a 14-point loss to the Hall and a 38-point drubbing by Xavier speak for themselves. We'll see what happens on 13 January, when we meet in Cameron.

It's hard to win when you let the other team make 16 three point shots, especially when they shoot 62% from three point range.

Also, UVA has basically followed the following trend this season...

When Adrian Joseph and Mamadi Diane both shoot well, UVA plays well.

When one or the other shoot well, they compete.

When neither shoots well, they collapse.

The two combined to shoot 4-15 against Xavier.
