The Search Committtee picked a solid coach with Coach Cut. The Committee's runner-up, or perhaps third place, candidate was Falcons' Offensive Coordinator, Hue Jackson, who was interviewed very late in the process. As such, not many outside of the committee may have heard much about him.

Since B. Petrino's departure from the Falcons, Hue's profile has risen. It appears in hindsight the Search Committee had a bit of depth with their finalists.

It was just two weeks ago that Falcons quarterback Chris Redman posted a dubious 0.0 passer rating in a 37-3 loss to Tampa Bay. It was the type of game that, just a few weeks earlier under former coach Bobby Petrino, could have cost Redman his starting job.

However, the interim coach who stepped forward after Petrino bolted to the University of Arkansas stuck with the hard-luck Redman, who'd overcome injuries and a stint as an insurance salesman to play again in the NFL.
