I voted for the Laettner shot because of my love for Duke. But I have to admit there were other choices that tugged at my heart. YIKES, such choices. sigh....

You can vote more than once! So skew away, my friends.

Was I supposed to vote for Charlotte Smith's shot that was taken AFTER the buzzer?

That was great. I mean, really great. Thanks for the link. I've bookmarked it.

Here's a chance to stick it to those awful folks in Bristol who hate Duke. (I'm of the opinion that they don't like or hate anyone, but really do like raking in the long green - if it brings ratings, like showing Duke's games, great; and if it brings ratings like commentators trash Duke, great). In any case, espn.com has a poll up on the 100 greatest highlights of all time. One of those is The Shot. You know what to do.

Thanks dukerev!

They asked for the top ten moments. As for the other 9 moments, I went with ones that simply won't make, and have no chance of competing with the Pass/the Shot/"SCORRRRRRRRRRRE"/pan to thomas hill. I mean, if Gar Heard, David Pearson, the NASCAR fight with Richard Petty, Vinko Bogataj, and Gene Sarazen's 1935 Masters compete in the Top Ten, I'll be shocked!

How else can we take a shot at the ESPN folks? VOTE SOME MORE!
Thanks again,
Lavabe

It was great to see that the Sampras - Agassi point of '95, the greatest tennis point that I have ever seen, made it.

Only one highlight can be proclaimed ESPN's "Greatest Sports Highlight." You know what it must be:

For those of you who don't know, ESPN is holding a competition to decide the greatest highlight ever in sports. Tomorrow (February 12) everyone can vote for Laettner's shot against Cal's "the band is on the field" clip. It should be tough to win it so I hope everyone heads over to ESPN to vote.

I personally think Laettner's shot should at least be in the final four... It might be hard to beat Eruzione's goal (Do you believe in miracle's? YES" or Bill Buckner's missed groundball.

Don't forget to head over to http://proxy.espn.go.com/chat/sportsnation/highlights/index

Go Laettner!!!

After voting for Christian on the 12th, come back the next day & vote for the underdog Boise St over MJ.:p

Seriously, though, stiff competition from the 'Cal v. the Band'. As much as we love Christian's shot, that highlight will be hard to beat on a nationwide vote.

Go Duke! & GTHC!

Yeah. We can't have a vol beating our man DeMarcus.

Had to vote for The Hatchet Man's dunk as well - I mean it was for the National Championship.

Tomorrow, on ESPN.com, The Shot is up against the Cal-Stanford Band on the Field play in the round of sixteen of The Greatest Highlight contest. We all know what is the greatest play of all time. There is no way Hill to Laettner loses to two mediocre football teams and a guy holding a trombone.

I don't see the poll on EPSN.

I just checked the site and as of now they still have the two home runs up for voting. (There's a logo link instead of a poll voting option on the ESPN front page.) I assume they'll close that "playoff" and open the vote for "Laettner's Shot vs. Cal/Stanford Finish" later this morning.

I just voted again this morning, and it accepted. Everyone else feel free to try, voting is still going on!

Also, the once with firefox and once with IE also works here like it did for DeMarcus, if you're into that kind of thing.

The Band won

Next up - Boise State vs the other one, which I can't recall.

Edited to add: No wonder I couldn't recall. Some goy named Michael that played in powder blue in college.

Booooo.

Tough matchup for Laettner. The Play will probably go on to win the whole thing. There's a reason that it can be identified simlpy as "The Play."
