View Full Version : DBR Christmas Tree--Help Me Decorate It!

I have taken the liberty of drawing up a Christmas tree for DBR.

http://johnsbrevard.blogspot.com/

I need your help! Please give me suggestions for ornaments (e.g., retired jerseys, outstanding accomplishments, etc.) Keep the labels very short (but informative) since the ornaments are rather small and I want them to show up. We should be able to fill up the tree in no time!! I will take your suggestions into account and draw up our final "tree" as quickly as I can

Suggestions for packages (that we could open up after Christmas) are welcomed too.
Merry Christmas!!

Retired jerseys are good. So are 1991, 1992 and 2001. A picture of Coach K. A picture of CIS.

Any chance of a broken UNC ornament on the ground?

Excellent suggestion!

What about ornaments with current players initials?

I definitely think we should honor the current players. They are our hope.

A miniature Speedo! This is a must. An absolute must. Along with a towel, preferably a crazy one.

Lederhosen!

A CD of either Mitch Ryder or Bruce Springsteen's version of "Devil With a Blue Dress."

And a GTHC car sticker!
Cheers,

The music has to be Mitch Ryder's "Devil with the Blue Dress on" ..... that was the inspiration for the cheerleaders' choreographed routine. Vic Bubas requested it and Emily "Love" Meeker created the choreography.

I have one of those, in fact I have several of those. If you bring your lederhosen, I will stuff them... with a GTHC sticker, silly man:D

Agreed-it has to be Mitch Ryder, in fact I did not even know The Boss did a version of Devil with a Blue Dress(live, perhaps?), though I have been a huge fan, but less so in the last decade or more. He did do a rather bad(but amusing) version of Santa Claus is Comin' to Town many years ago.

I like both versions; I was part of the New Jersey diaspora to Duke in the late 70's. The tradition side of me will side with Ryder; the 70's Boss side of me goes with Bruce. Didn't know that about Bubas. Thanks.

You could also have DUMB/pep band's version of Devil in a Blue Dress on their CD on your tree.

That would be the one featuring OZZIE on the bonus track.

MUST go with that one!

the jersey of UNC that wouldve had MJ's 23 turned into a 33 with hill on it. IF not for that prank being found out before gametime that would've been the greatest prank in college hoops history.

Some great ideas so far... I am making notes and will be incorporating as many as I can for the final "tree"...

Keep them coming...

You know you're getting older when you say that you're the same age as John Lennon would have been had he lived, and a thirty year old woman says, "Who?" Actually happened to me at University of Montreal!!!

It actually would not make a good tree-topper as it is kinda flimsy(no offense, camcraz). It makes a MUCH better ornament hung carefully from a prominent branch on the Christmas tree, next to any Duke ornament. It also makes a great window/bumper sticker(of course), bookmark, wall decal, screen saver, stocking stuffer, pocket 'square' for a shirt(my favorite use) or sport coat, or, oh well, you get the picture...
