Congrats to Kevin Streelman (Duke '01) who has tied for 10th in the PGA Q school. He's worked very hard on his game over the few years and deserves a well done for getting his card.

Just got an email from someone telling me there's one more round? That's odd. If my congrats were, in fact, premature...let's just think good thoughts.

Kevin was not a golf "star" at Duke but has really applied himself trying to pursue this opportunity.

Most of the Duke women on the LPGA tour had a pretty rough year in 2007. Congratulations to Liz Janangelo for getting her card, and to Virada Nirapathpongporn on getting conditional status.

What is the status of Beth Bauer, and Jenny Chuasiriporn?

...who also received her provisional card.

As usual, the young ladies from Duke comported themselves well. I urge that when they play in your area, that you please go out and support them. Wear some Duke apparel and I can assure you that at the end of the day, they will come to you and thank you for your support. And do it, regardless of the kind of day they "had." And it always amazes me to see the look on the faces of other spectators which clearly says, "Wow, no one has ever thanked me for coming out."

I have said it before and will say it again, Coach Brooks and his team do us proud.

Kevin is at -19 through 11 and is 6 strokes above the cut line (Top 25 and ties) which is -13. He'd have to bogey out to miss getting his card. Good luck Kevin!!!

What is the status of Beth Bauer, and Jenny Chuasiriporn?

Beth missed the cut at Q school (as did Jean Bartholomew). No info on Jenny C, although I vaguely remember reading that she had taken a college assistant coaching job somewhere.

It was a scary struggle on the back nine but Kevin has his card. He's currently tied for 14th after shooting 1 over today.

They just had a good interview with him on the Golf Channel's coverage. He acquitted himself well and was very gracious in thanking those who have supported him.

Great to see another Duke man on tour in addition to the stellar group of women.

What does conditional status mean? Does it get you into a few tournaments? I can't find the rules on this.

I knew Anna while she was at Duke. Really great person. Very psyched that she got this!

conditional status basically means you are at the bottom of the list to get into tournaments. very hard to plan your schedule. you are allowed into a certain number of events, but a lot of tournaments you are an alternate, waiting for someone to drop out right before the event starts. however, if you do well early in the season, your status can jump up to regular status, they re-jigger the money list a few times per year. it's kinda complicated, but that is what i've been told by many tour pros.

Basically you're right. When you get into tournaments, you have to produce, ie, make the cut, and you will get into more tourneys. The more money you make (the higher you finish), the more opportunities you'll get. Win and you get a two year exemption (on the PGA tour, I think it is the same in the LPGA).
